Wall is a 2009 play by David Hare, in the form of a monologue. It was first performed in March 2009 at the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs at the Royal Court Theatre by the author himself, directed by Stephen Daldry. Its topic is the Israeli Security Barriers in the West Bank and Gaza and it is intended by Hare as a companion piece to his monologue Berlin and its passages on the Berlin Wall.
The Walking Stiletto is a robotsupervillain created by Stan Lee, John Romita, Sr., and Sal Buscema, first appeared in Captain America #114 (June 1969). Within the context of the stories, the Walking Stiletto is a creation and agent of AIM. When Sharon Carter attacks a group of AIM leaders, they let loose the Stiletto to attack her, but she is saved by Captain America and Rick Jones, who destroy the robot. Many years later, the Walking Stiletto is among the robotic collection of the Reanimator, who unleashes it on Wolverine and Nova. Wolverine eviscerates the Walking Stiletto, rendering it inoperative.
Wall
Wall is a mutant whose first appearance was in Cable vol. 2 #79. Wall was a member of Randall Shire's small traveling carnival in Australia before Shire was possessed by the alien Undying known as Semijan and subsequently enslaved Wall and his brother Key with his mutant vocal power. Wall is a low-level mutant whose body is denser than adamantium, and is resistant to injury. Wall also possesses enhanced strength.
Mud is a mixture of water and any combination of soil, silt, and clay, and usually forms after rainfall or near water sources. Ancient mud deposits harden over geological time to form sedimentary rock such as shale or mudstone (generally called lutites). When geological deposits of mud are formed in estuaries the resultant layers are termed bay muds.
Building and construction
Adhesive
In the construction industry, mud is a semi-fluid material that can be used to coat, seal, or adhere materials. Depending on the composition of the mud, it can be referred by many different names, including slurry, mortar, plaster, stucco, and concrete.
Material
Mud, cob, adobe, clay, and many other names are historically used synonymously to mean a mixture of subsoil and water possibly with the addition of stones, gravel, straw, lime, and/or bitumen. This material was used a variety of ways to build walls, roofs and floors.
Mudbrick
Mud can be made into mud bricks, also called adobe, by mixing mud with water, placing the mixture into moulds and then allowing it to dry in open air. Straw is sometimes used as a binder within the bricks, as it adds a support lattice. When the brick would otherwise break, the straw will redistribute the force throughout the brick, decreasing the chance of breakage. Such buildings must be protected from groundwater, usually by building upon a masonry, fired brick, rock or rubble foundation, and also from wind-driven rain in damp climates, usually by deep roof overhangs. In extremely dry climates a well drained flat roof may be protected with a well-prepared (puddled) and properly maintained dried mud coating, viable as the mud will expand when moistened and so become more water resistant. Adobe mudbricks were commonly used by the Pueblo Indians to build their homes and other necessary structures.

Imagining Asia through “Tour of the Orient”: Cathay Pacific’s “Contemporary Art in Asia” Exhibitions (1965)

Imagining Asia through “Tour of the Orient”: Cathay Pacific’s “Contemporary Art in Asia” Exhibitions (1965)
On April 22, 1965, Hong Kong’s signature airline Cathay Pacific launched its multiple-city touring exhibition Contemporary Art in Asia in Singapore. With around 130 artworks, the exhibition toured to Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jesselton, Manila, Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Taipei before returning to Hong Kong. Arguably, the exhibition was no more than a commercial promotion for Cathay Airways’s flight network around Asia and may carry limited significance in art history. Pan Lu, however, tries to situate this exhibit in a broad historical context. By examining city networks, Asian art, and representations of air hostesses from the perspective of Hong Kong, she argues that these corporate-sponsored “Tour of the Orient” exhibits reveal diverse imaginations of Asia and its modernity beyond the Orient–Occident binaries in the 1960s.
This research supplements the existing literature methodology-wise and focuses on several alternative aspects. It goes beyond examining the US–China confrontation in Asia during the Cold War by adopting a “Hong Kong perspective,” which mobilizes the imaginations on Asia through the lens of a time and space that deterritorializes national boundaries. By taking an art exhibition as its starting point, Pan discusses what type of “Asianess” was conceived in this event based on the style of the presented artworks and the artists’ community-building in other exhibits launched around Asia at that time. Specific attention is oriented towards the promotional texts and reports of these exhibits, in which the presence of airlines’ air hostesses was highlighted in its own magazine Oriental Travels.
