Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle For Earth(ゴジラvsモスラ,Gojira tai Mosura) is a 1992 Japanese science fictionkaiju directed by Takao Okawara. It is the 19th film in the Godzilla franchise and the fourth film in the Heisei series. Unadjusted for inflation, the film remains the highest grossing film of the Toho Godzilla films and was the second highest grossing film in Japan in 1993, second only to Jurassic Park. The film was released in Japan on December 12, 1992 and in direct to video in the United States in 1998 by Columbia Tristar Home Video as Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth.
Plot
In 1993, an asteroid lands in the ocean and awakens Godzilla. The next day, a young man named Takuya Fujita is detained after stealing an ancient artifact. Later, a representative of the Japanese Prime Minister arrives to the jail where Takuya is being held with Takuya's ex-wife, Masako Tezuka, and offers him to explore an island with Masako and Marutomo company secretary, Kenji Ando, and become a free man. Takuya initially turns down the offer, on the basis that he is to be released in another week. But after his ex-wife informs him that his sentence has been reconsidered, he accepts. After the trio arrives on the island, they find a cave behind a waterfall. Inside, they discover ancient paintings, including a picture of two giant insects fighting one another. While studying them, the sun shines through a hole in the wall, and the light points to a small opening in the cave, where they come upon a giant egg. The three hear a pair of voices, which belong to the Cosmos. They keep the earth's natural order in balance, and informs them the egg belongs to Mothra.

Mothra Suite | Godzilla vs Mothra 1992 (Original Soundtrack) by Akira Ifukube
Mothra has always had her iconic song since her debut film, but since clashing with Godzilla in the Showa films, Ifukube gave her a new theme that he used whenever he scored for the moth character. It's a slow, gentle lamentation usually performed on soft strings or woodwinds, and of course female vocalizations. It's a reflective melody that can also sound grand and powerful with brass and a four note drum beat following each phrase. It's a fitting theme for the moth monster, befitting her benevolence and kindness.

Battra is... A cool enough antagonist, I liked he wasn't portrayed as 100% evil but that aside there's not much of him in the movie to really make him stand out, he's a good Mothra villain, but not so much a Godzilla villain.
