Lillie Langtry (born Emilie Charlotte Le Breton; October 13, 1853 – February 12, 1929), usually spelled Lily Langtry in the United States, was celebrated as a young woman of beauty and charm, who later established a reputation as an actress and producer. In May 1877, Lady Sebright invited her to "an evening at home", attended by some of the famous artists of the day. Her looks and personality attracted interest, commentary, and invitations from artists and society hostesses.
By 1881, she had become an actress and starred in many plays, including She Stoops to Conquer, The Lady of Lyons, and As You Like It, eventually running her own stage production company. In later life she performed "dramatic sketches" in vaudeville. She was also known for her relationships with noblemen, including the Prince of Wales, the Earl of Shrewsbury, and Prince Louis of Battenberg. She was the subject of widespread public and media interest.
Biography
Born as Emilie Charlotte Le Breton, Langtry was the only daughter of Rev. William Corbet Le Breton and his wife Emilie Davis (née Martin), who was known for her beauty. They eloped to Gretna Green and, in 1842, married at Chelsea. Emilie Charlotte was born in the rectory of St Saviour's Parish Church in Jersey where her father was Rector and Dean of Jersey.
Lillie Langtry is a dark bay or brown mare with a small white star and bred in Ireland by Kevin Lynch. Her dam, Hoity Toity, was an unraced daughter of the Prix du Jockey Club winner Darshan. Hoity Toity was a fourth-generation descendant of Noble Lassie, the dam of Vaguely Noble. Hoity Toity was bought for 50,000 guineas by Lynch and became one of only two mares kept at Lynch's Ballinahown Stud near Fermoy in County Cork. Lillie Langtry was sired by Danehill Dancer, who won the Phoenix Stakes, National Stakes and Greenham Stakes before becoming a very successful breeding stallion. His other progeny have included Choisir, Mastercraftsman, Legatissimo and Dancing Rain.

Maurice-Alexis Jarre (13 September 1924–28 March 2009) was a French composer and conductor, "one of the giants of 20th century film music" who was "among the most sought-after composers in the movie industry" and "a creator of both subtle underscoring and grand, sweeping themes, not only writing for conventional orchestras... but also experimenting with electronic sounds later in his career."
Jarre was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Three of his compositions spent a total of 42 weeks on the UK singles chart; the biggest hit was "Somewhere My Love" (to his tune "Lara's Theme", with lyrics by Paul Francis Webster) by the Mike Sammes Singers, which reached Number 14 in 1966 and spent 38 weeks on the chart.
