Minnesota Orchestra
The Minnesota Orchestra is an American orchestra based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Founded in 1903, the Minnesota Orchestra plays most of its concerts at Minneapolis's Orchestra Hall.
Osmo Vänskä is the music director. Andrew Litton is the artistic director of the Orchestra's yearly Sommerfest concert series, and Stanislaw Skrowaczewski is Conductor Laureate.
History
Emil Oberhoffer founded the orchestra as the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra in 1903, and it gave its first performance on November 5 of that year. In 1968, the orchestra changed its name to the Minnesota Orchestra. It makes its home in downtown Minneapolis at Orchestra Hall, which was built for the ensemble in 1974. The orchestra's previous hall, starting in 1929, was Northrop Memorial Auditorium on the University of Minnesota's Minneapolis campus.
Financial concerns
In 2007 the Minnesota Orchestra's assets began declining, a trend exacerbated by the financial crisis of 2007–2008. In August 2008, the Minnesota Orchestra Association's invested assets totaled $168.5 million, 13% less than the $192.4 million the Association had projected in its 2007 Strategic Plan. In fiscal year 2009, the Minnesota Orchestra's board "sold $28.7 million in securities at a nearly $14 million loss".

Orchestra
An orchestra (/ˈɔːrkᵻstrə/ or US /ˈɔːrˌkɛstrə/; Italian: [orˈkɛstra]) is a large instrumental ensemble used in classical music that contains sections of string (violin, viola, cello and double bass), brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. Other instruments such as the piano and celesta may sometimes be grouped into a fifth section such as a keyboard section or may stand alone, as may the concert harp and, for 20th and 21st century compositions, electric and electronic instruments. The term orchestra derives from the Greek ὀρχήστρα, the name for the area in front of an ancient Greek stage reserved for the Greek chorus. The orchestra grew by accretion throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, but changed very little in composition during the course of the 20th century.

Minneapolis
Minneapolis (
i/ˌmɪniˈæpəlɪs/) is the county seat of Hennepin County, and larger of the Twin Cities, the 14th-largest metropolitan area in the United States, containing approximately 3.8 million residents. As of 2016, Minneapolis is the largest city in the state of Minnesota and 46th-largest in the United States with 407,207 residents. Minneapolis and Saint Paul anchor the second-largest economic center in the Midwest, behind Chicago.
Minneapolis lies on both banks of the Mississippi River, just north of the river's confluence with the Minnesota River, and adjoins Saint Paul, the state's capital. The city is abundantly rich in water, with twenty lakes and wetlands, the Mississippi River, creeks and waterfalls, many connected by parkways in the Chain of Lakes and the Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway. It was once the world's flour milling capital and a hub for timber, and today is the primary business center between Chicago and Seattle, with Minneapolis proper containing America's fifth-highest concentration of Fortune 500 companies. As an integral link to the global economy, Minneapolis is categorized as a global city.

Minnesota Valkyrie
The Minnesota Valkyrie was a sports team that played in the Legends Football League (formerly the Lingerie Football League). Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the team played their home games at the Target Center. On March 23, 2011, it was announced that the LFL would add an expansion team to Minneapolis. On April 4, 2011, the team was officially named Minnesota Valkyrie. The LFL announced that it would suspend operations of the American teams for the 2012–13 season. The LFL returned for summer 2013. Tony Nguyen was the head coach for the first season (2011–12). Benson Manento was the head coach in 2013. The team folded in December 2013.

Ulmus americana 'Minneapolis Park'
The American Elm cultivar Ulmus americana 'Minneapolis Park' was a selection made by the Minneapolis Park Department as being particularly suited to boulevard planting.
Description
The tree has a relatively high number of stiff, upright branches creating a broad pyramidal shape.
Pests and diseases
'Minneapolis Park' was ultimately found to be very susceptible to Dutch elm disease.
Cultivation
First advertised for sale in 1958, but owing to its susceptibility to disease it is unlikely the tree remains in cultivation. However, some authorities regard the tree as identical to 'Moline', an example of which survives at the Morton Arboretum.

In this video we take a drive through the heart of Downtown Minneapolis on a sunny day in June, 2021. Join me as we take a drive up, down, and around several blocks of Minnesota's largest city. We start on the west side near the Basilica of St. Mary, and wind our way among the skyscrapers and skyways, winding our way to the edge of downtown along the Mississippi River. Along the way, we'll pass the Theater District, the IDS Center, the Foshay Tower, First Avenue Nightclub, Target Center, the Warehouse District, the North Loop, The River Road, and the Hennepin Avenue Bridge. Along the way, we'll pass the Theater District, the IDS Center, the Foshay Tower, First Avenue Nightclub, Target Center, the Warehouse District, the North Loop, The River Road, and the Hennepin Avenue Bridge.

Minnesota Orchestra
The Minnesota Orchestra is an American orchestra based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Founded in 1903, the Minnesota Orchestra plays most of its concerts at Minneapolis's Orchestra Hall.
Osmo Vänskä is the music director. Andrew Litton is the artistic director of the Orchestra's yearly Sommerfest concert series, and Stanislaw Skrowaczewski is Conductor Laureate.
History
Emil Oberhoffer founded the orchestra as the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra in 1903, and it gave its first performance on November 5 of that year. In 1968, the orchestra changed its name to the Minnesota Orchestra. It makes its home in downtown Minneapolis at Orchestra Hall, which was built for the ensemble in 1974. The orchestra's previous hall, starting in 1929, was Northrop Memorial Auditorium on the University of Minnesota's Minneapolis campus.
Financial concerns
In 2007 the Minnesota Orchestra's assets began declining, a trend exacerbated by the financial crisis of 2007–2008. In August 2008, the Minnesota Orchestra Association's invested assets totaled $168.5 million, 13% less than the $192.4 million the Association had projected in its 2007 Strategic Plan. In fiscal year 2009, the Minnesota Orchestra's board "sold $28.7 million in securities at a nearly $14 million loss".

In January 2018, The Danish Broadcast Corporation (DR) aired a concert called “The Morricone Duel” performed by The Danish National Symphony Orchestra /DR SymfoniOrkestret, The Danish National Concert Choir with various soloists conducted by Sarah Hicks.
The score is available on all regular Streaming-Platforms.
The music performed was titles from a wide range of western movies and mafia movies reflecting different perspectives on an Italian-American movie and film music style.

In this video we take a drive through the heart of Downtown Minneapolis on a sunny day in June, 2021.
Join me as we take a drive up, down, and around several blocks of Minnesota's largest city. We start on the west side near the Basilica of St. Mary, and wind our way among the skyscrapers and skyways, winding our way to the edge of downtown along the Mississippi River.
Along the way, we'll pass the Theater District, the IDS Center, the Foshay Tower, First Avenue Nightclub, Target Center, the Warehouse District, the North Loop, The River Road, and the Hennepin Avenue Bridge.
Minneapolis is the larger of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul and is the largest city in the state of Minnesota. Thanks for joining me on the drive - hope you enjoy the scenery!
