The Ministry of Employment was established in 1974, when the Ministry of the Interior (Swedish:Inrikesdepartementet) was split into two new ministries. The Ministry of Employment assumed responsibility for labour market, labour protection and immigration issues. Housing policies were transferred to a new Ministry of Housing (Swedish:Bostadsdepartementet).

The Cold Weather Payment is extra money to help with the added cost of heating your home when it is very cold.
How cold it needs to be.
Payments are made when the temperature in your postcode area is recorded as, or is forecast to be, zero degrees Celsius or below for 7 days in a row.
The Cold Weather Payment scheme runs between the 1st of November 2023 and the 31st of March 2024 in England and Wales.
Scotland has a separate Winter Heating Payment scheme.
You may get a payment if you get:
Pension Credit
Income Support
income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Universal Credit, or
Support for Mortgage Interest
Extra qualifying criteria is also required.
How much you get.
You will get £25 for each 7 day period of very cold weather. Payments are usually made within 14 working days after each cold weather period.
Check your postcode.
From November 2023, you can go online to check if your postcode area has qualified for a Cold Weather Payment.
You do not need to claim. Cold Weather Payments are automatically paid into the same account as your other benefits.
Let DWP know straight away:
if you go into hospital, as this may affect your payment, or
if you think you are eligible for a payment, but have not received it
