Methuselah (Hebrew: מְתוּשֶׁלַח / מְתוּשָׁלַח, ModernMetušélaħ / MetušálaħTiberianMəṯûšélaḥ / Məṯûšālaḥ; "Man of the dart/spear", or alternatively "his death shall bring judgment") is the man reported to have lived the longest at the age of 969 in the Hebrew Bible. Extra-biblical tradition maintains that he died on the 11th of Cheshvan of the year 1656AM (Anno Mundi, after Creation), seven days before the beginning of the Great Flood. Methuselah was the son of Enoch, the father of Lamech, and the grandfather of Noah.
The verses are available in three manuscript traditions, the Masoretic, the Septuagint and the Samaritan Torah. The three traditions do not agree with each other. The differences can be summarized as follows:
Methuselah is a 7003484700000000000♠4,847-year-oldGreat Basin bristlecone pine (Pinus longaeva) tree growing high in the White Mountains of Inyo County in eastern California. For many years it was the world's oldest known living non-clonal organism, until superseded by the discovery in 2012 of another bristlecone pine in the same area with an age of 7003506500000000000♠5,065 years (germination in 3050 BC).
Geography
Methuselah is located between 2,900 and 3,000m (9,500 and 9,800ft) above sea level in the "Methuselah Grove" in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest within the Inyo National Forest. Its exact location has not been publicly disclosed.
Status as oldest known tree
Methuselah was 4,789 years old when sampled (likely in 1957) by Edmund Schulman and Tom Harlan, with an estimated germination date of 2833BC. Methuselah was for many years considered the world's oldest living tree, until 2012 when an older bristlecone pine was discovered and later announced in 2013.
Known as "Martin the Warrior" throughout the Redwall series, Martin, a woodland mouse, is the son of Luke the Warrior and his mate Sayna. Luke is the kindly leader of an idyllic tribe of mice. Their settlement is sacked by a wicked stoat pirate named Vilu Daskar, and Sayna is killed. Luke vows revenge against the corsair captain and sets out after him, refusing Martin's wishes to join him, but leaving his sword in his son's possession. Sometime later, Martin is captured by another tyrannical stoat called Badrang and becomes one of his horde of slaves. The young mouse is rebellious and insolent, however, and after spending some time as a slave, he manages to escape his captors. The son of Luke strikes out into the wilderness to rally help from other woodland creatures to come back with him to help liberate the rest of the slaves. He meets Laterose of Noonvale (normally called Rose), a mousemaiden with whom he develops a romantic relationship. She saves him from death numerous times, and shows that she is as much of a warrior as Martin. In the eventual assault on Badrang's fort, called Marshank, many of Martin's companions perish, including Rose, who is killed when Badrang throws her against a wall (in the TV series she dies when Badrang stabs her). However, Marshank is ultimately taken and Badrang slain by Martin himself, who reclaims his father's sword from the tyrant. The young mouse is devastated by the deaths of his friends, especially Rose, and he never takes on another love interest.
Damascus (Arabic:دمشقDimashq IPA:[ˈdiːmaːʃq]) is the capital and the second-largest city of Syria after Aleppo. It is commonly known in Syria as ash-Sham (Arabic:الشامash-Shām) and nicknamed as the City of Jasmine (Arabic:مدينة الياسمينMadīnat al-Yāsmīn). In addition to being one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Damascus is a major cultural and religious center of the Levant. The city has an estimated population of 1,711,000 as of 2009.
Located in southwestern Syria, Damascus is the center of a large metropolitan area of 2.6 million people (2004). Geographically embedded on the eastern foothills of the Anti-Lebanon mountain range 80 kilometres (50mi) inland from the eastern shore of the Mediterranean on a plateau 680 metres (2,230ft) above sea-level, Damascus experiences a semi-arid climate because of the rain shadow effect. The Barada River flows through Damascus.
First settled in the second millennium BC, it was chosen as the capital of the Umayyad Caliphate from 661 to 750. After the victory of the Abbasid dynasty, the seat of Islamic power was moved to Baghdad. Damascus saw a political decline throughout the Abbasid era, only to regain significant importance in the Ayyubid and Mamluk periods. During Ottoman rule, the city decayed while maintaining a certain cultural prestige. Today, it is the seat of the central government and all of the government ministries.
Damascus (April 14, 1964 – August 8, 1995) was a Thoroughbredrace horsesired by Sword Dancer (1959's Horse of the Year) out of Kerala (by My Babu) foaled at the Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. In 1967, he won the Preakness Stakes, Belmont Stakes*, Jockey Club Gold Cup*, Wood Memorial, Travers Stakes, Dwyer Stakes (closing from 12 lengths back and spotting the runner up 16 pounds), and Woodward Stakes and was named Horse of the Year and champion three-year-old colt, plus he shared the champion handicap male honors with Buckpasser. Also in 1967, Damascus finished third in the 1967 Kentucky Derby. A high-strung horse, he was enervated by the humidity and spooked by the crowd noise, so he was thereafter given a stable pony to calm him. During the same year, top horses Dr. Fager and Buckpasser were also competing. In Blood-Horse magazine's top 100 U.S. thoroughbred champions of the 20th Century, Buckpasser ranks 14th and Dr. Fager ranks 6th. In a race many consider the "Race of the Century," Damascus won the 1967 Woodward by 10 lengths over both of these horses after his connections, as well as those of Buckpasser, used stablemates to set a blistering pace, thus weakening Dr. Fager. Damascus himself ranks number 16 in the Blood Horse listing.

The Oldest Living Thing In The World: The Mysterious Methuselah Tree | Oldest Tree | Timeline
On a desolate mountain top in California lives the world’s oldest organism – a gnarled and twisted bristlecone pine. The scientist who discovered the tree gave it the name Methuselah. It was a seedling when the Egyptian pyramids were being built and a mature tree at the time of Christ. It is now over 4,000 years old. The Curse Of The Methuselah Tree shows how the climate and dramatic events – from volcanoes to nuclear tests – over the last 4000 years have affected Methuselah’s growth rings. Archive footage and stunning computer animation are interspersed with Methuselah’s own narration, supplied by poet Roger McGough. The programme also contemplates the tree’s future and reveals the curse that has followed anyone who has dared to work on the tree – an early death.

Top 15 OLDEST Trees Still Living
The battle for the title of ‘the oldest tree still living’ is an on-going battle. But the battle is not as simple as it seems. Some trees of non-clonal, and some are clonal, so the battle is a ‘clone war’ of sorts. Clonal trees are genetically identical trees that share one root system, so their can be lots of clonal trees of different ages. Non-clonal trees don’t do that – they don’t practice cloning. And when it comes to the oldest tree still living, there is a distinction between clonal and non-clonal trees. So, in short, there isn’t just ‘one title’ for the world’s oldest tree that’s still living. There are several based on the type of tree. Today, we’re going to take a look at them all, from the most ancient non-clonal, to the oldest clonal. Here are the Top 15 Oldest Trees Still Livi...

Searching for the Oldest Trees in the World - Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest
The Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest is located about 24 miles off Highway 395 in Inyo County, California, and is home to the oldest trees in the world. In July 2020 we visited the park and did the Methuselah Loop Trail, a little over 4 mile hike that takes you to the Methuselah Grove, where the world's oldest trees reside, including the Methuselah Tree, the oldest confirmed tree in the world at 4,851 years old.
In addition to seeing trees that were around before the pyramids, the hike offers great views of the surrounding area, including Death Valley National Park.
Getting to the park is fairly easy, it is a short side trip off Highway 395 and the road is paved the entire way to the visitor center. The hike is not too strenuous, but is at over 10,000 feet elevation for the majority of it...

THE WORLD'S OLDEST TREE | Methuselah Tree Location (INYO Forest, White Mountains)
After spending a week in Yosemite, we ventured to Bishop, CA in search for the world’s oldest tree, the Methuselah tree, located high in the White Mountains of INYO National Forest. This tree was named after the biblical patriarch Methuselah, who is said to have the longest lifespan of all in the Bible at a ripe 969 years old.
The Methuselah tree is over 5,000 years old, and its exact location is kept a secret to help preserve the tree and avoid and knuckleheads damaging the area. After a bit of research, we found enough clues to piece together the approximate whereabouts and set off on a mission to find this ancient tree. But do we find it??? You’ll have to watch and see!!
Have a great day everyone.

Here are the Top 15 Oldest Trees Still Living.

Ancient trees are fascinating, but the answer to the question in the title isn't as cut and dried as it might first seem. There are two major contenders for the superlative, and Hank has all the important information on both of them in this episode of SciShow. Which one would you give the title to?

The hike is not too strenuous, but is at over 10,000 feet elevation for the majority of it, with and 800 foot elevation drop/gain. It is not wheelchair accessible. But we managed to do it with sea-level living city folk and a 7 year old, so not too bad.

Here are the Top 15 Oldest Trees Still Living.

So you're the motherfucker they call....Immortal Technique. What the fuck make you so special nigga? Huh... what the fuck do you do?
