Singing a scale - solfa | Music class for kids | Toddler & Preschool singing lesson - Pitch
Singing a scale with solfa!
Solfa (do, re, mi) originated in Italy during Medieval times. It was used by cathedral singers to help them learn their chants. It was then made famous in the film The Sound of Music!
This activity is a fantastic introduction to Solfa before introducing Kodály's handsigns. Using our body, we can move up through the notes as we sing! This exercise will help improve pitch accuracy by making the spaces in between the notes easier to learn.
Happy singing Jiggle Jammers!

First, you’ll learn about vibrations and how they make sound. From there, you’ll learn about how vibrations are measured as frequencies.
Next, you’ll learn about labelling frequencies so that they’re easy to access when you are making music. This is where you’ll get your musical notes.
After labelling your notes, you’ll learn about how those notes exist on the piano. This is how they're organized for music making.
Once you label the notes, you'll learn how to organize them into the major scale formula. Knowing this will help you to determine the musical keys of music.
To finish up, you’ll learn about some efficient practice techniques. These techniques will allow you to absorb and apply this information.

About:
BENJAMIN SCHIPPRITT is an enthusiastic and passionate musician since the early 1980s. His main instruments and the foundation of his musical thinking are the electric and western acoustic guitar, but he also enjoys singing and playing the electric bass guitar. Additionally, he produces, records, and mixes music in his studio.
Spending a lifetime around his guitar, Benjamin has developed a virtuosic playing style and completed a full-time jazz guitar study at the Institute for the Arts (Artez) in the Netherlands. Despite his jazz background, he has a strong passion for rock music. His creative songwriting and contributions span many different styles of music, perfectly fitting that rocking attitude. Besides being a live and studio musician, he is utterly passionate about guitar teaching.
