Mr Big were a Britishpop rockband, active in the 1970s and 1990s. They were formed by Jeff Pain (aka Dicken) and best known for their 1977 Top 5 hit, "Romeo". The band was originally active from 1972–78 and then for a second period from 1990–98.
Biography
The members of Mr Big had been playing together since the late 1960s, under the name 'Burnt Oak'. They first played under the name, 'Mr Big', in 1972, at the Marquee Club in Wardour Street, London, when the manager billed them as Mr Big instead of Burnt Oak. The manager refused to change it, so it stuck for the rest of the band's career.
In 1974, the band signed to Epic Records, releasing three singles, none of which made a significant breakthrough, but which did lead to appearances on Lift Off, a TVpop show presented by Ayesha Brough, and Softly, Softly: Taskforce, a police drama in which actor/singerPaul Nicholas had the leading role.
In 1975, Bob Hirschman, then manager of Mott the Hoople, took over as the band's manager. Their first album, Sweet Silence, was released on EMI, to greater acclaim than their previous singles. Promotional TV appearances for this album included Supersonic with Mike Mansfield and Superpop. In November 1975, Mr Big supported Queen on their A Night at the Opera tour.
Mr. Big is an American hard rock band, formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1988. The band is a quartet composed of Eric Martin (lead vocals), Paul Gilbert (guitar), Billy Sheehan (bass guitar), and Pat Torpey (drums); The band is noted especially for their musicianship, and scored a number of hits. Their songs were often marked by strong vocals and vocal harmonies. Their hits include "To Be with You" (a number one single in 15 countries in 1992) and "Just Take My Heart".
Mr. Big have remained active and popular for over two decades, despite internal conflicts and changing music trends. They broke up in 2002, but after requests from fans, they reunited in 2009; their first tour was in Japan, in June 2009. To date, Mr. Big has released eight studio albums, the latest being ...The Stories We Could Tell (2014).
The band takes its name from the song by Free, which was eventually covered by the band on their 1993 album, Bump Ahead.
Goes was founded in the 10th century on the edge of a creek: de Korte Gos (the Short Gos). The village grew fast, and in the early 12th century it had a market square and a church devoted to Mary Magdalene. In 1405 Goes received city rights from William, Duke of Bavaria, by his right as count of Holland, and in 1417 it was allowed to build town walls. The prosperity of the city was based upon the cloth industry and the production of salt. In the 16th century Goes declined. Its connection to the sea silted up and in 1554 a large fire destroyed part of the city.
In Autumn 1572, during the course of the Eighty Years' War, Goes, in the Spanish Netherlands, was besieged by Dutch forces with the support of English troops. The siege was relieved in October 1572 by Spanish Tercios, who waded across the Scheldt to attack the besieging forces. In 1577 the Spanish soldiers who occupied Goes were driven out by Prince Maurits of Nassau. The prince built a defence wall around Goes, which is still partly standing. From the 17th century Goes did not play an important role, except as an agricultural centre. In 1868 a railway was constructed through it, but this did not lead to industrialisation. Agriculture remains the most important economic activity.
GOES-L was launched aboard an International Launch ServicesAtlas IIA rocket, flying from Space Launch Complex 36A at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The launch occurred at 07:07 GMT on 3 May. The launch was originally scheduled for 15 March 1999, however it was delayed to allow the Eutelsat W3 satellite to be launched first. Following this, it was rescheduled for 15 May. On 30 April, the Centaur upper stage of a Titan IV(401)B failed during the launch of USA-143. Since a version of the Centaur was also used on the Atlas II, the launch of GOES-L was delayed a week to ensure that the same problem would not affect its launch. Less than five days after the Titan failure, a Delta III failed to launch Orion 3. The failure occurred during the second stage restart, and as the Delta III and Atlas II both used RL10 engines on their second stages, this resulted in a further delay.

The source video I used to create this video is no longer online. It was the best-quality upload of this music video I could find online. I have replaced the audio track with a higher-quality, full-length one. The original audio track on this music video fades out ten seconds earlier than the single and album track and in my opinion it sounds awful, so I wanted my video to have the missing ten seconds included. To accompany those ten seconds, I have put up on screen a picture of the single as released in Germany. Replacing the audio track involved slowing the footage down slightly, as it was running a bit too fast compared to the audio track I am using. I have also cropped the edges of the video picture, just enough to clean them up. I have also added optional subtitles for the lyrics.
This song was written by Jeffrey Robert Dicken and Edward Carter. These are the two lead singers of the song. At the time, Jeffrey was known simply as Dicken, and he was later known as Jeff Pain, but these days he calls himself Jeffrey Robert Dicken, and he has a YouTube channel which is currently called Jeffrey Robert, which can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/@jeffrey1950
This track was produced by Val Garay, and was released in 1976. It is usually considered to have been released in 1977, but the Discogs website documents releases of it as a single in the USA and Canada in 1976, and pictures of these can be seen here:

This band are not to be confused with the American band of the same name. This band are English and formed two decades before the American band did, and started using the name 16 years before the American band did. Sometimes the two bands are distinguished by having their name spelt differently, with the English band having no dot (Mr Big) and the American band having a dot (Mr. Big). The fact that the American band formed so much later means that they are clearly guilty of stealing another band's name, and of having no respect for music history. This is not the case with either of the two different bands known as The Spinners, as both bands formed at approximately the same time in the 1950s.

Before that Mr Big where toured as support for QUEEN:s "A night At The Opera-tour". In that time EMI records wasn´t satisfied with Rock Music, they rather wanted a punk band or New Wave. They didn´t released the third album even if it had been a big sucess with Mr Big second album and their no.1 hit ROMEO. So it took 23 years before Seppuko were released by Angel Air. Crazy.
Dicken started a new band in 1979 BROKEN HOME, amazing band too.
But thats another story. Mr Big were started up again in 1989, but it took 7 years before there were an album out "Rainbow Bridge"-1996. But truly, it was in reality a soloalbum with the best Dicken songs from the last 6-7 years.
No it took until 2006 before christmas there were a live act with Mr Big.
In 2007 DICKEN:s album "From Mr Big to Broken Home and back.."the best songs from whole DICKEN:s career and also include som new songs from Mr Big.
The brand new album "Bitter Streets"were released in June 2011, Relesed by Soundfactor Records and distributed by Universal.
well worth to wait for. Now the band tour Britain again and hopefully they will have a great sucess, they and Dicken deserves it. This is the new recorded version of Romeo and it has a small gospel touch and its a wonderful ballad.

When she cried It felt like her last tear for nothing It's her life, a toss of the coin For everything, yeah Oh, the girl began to see That you don't need just any man, oh no And her pride is a kiss goodbye On graduation day She always said, she'd be happier alone She always said, she won't be anybody's second hand rose She's scared, she dares She'd be a rose alone Daddy says, you can't pay the rent On a fairy tale It's her play, she'd rather be free Than be safe in jail Oh, make it or break it You do what you gotta do 'cause you can, oh yeah Taste the wine, bittersweet But the bite still gets you high She always said, she'd be happier alone She always said, she won't be anybody's second hand rose She always said, she'd be happier, happier alone She's scared, she dares, she'd be a rose alone Somebody Hey, hey, hey Taste the wine, bittersweet But the bite still gets you high She always said, she'd be happier alone, yeah She always said, she won't be anybody's secondhand rose, yeah She always said, she'd be happier, happier alone
