It took years to design the space probe and its small helicopter drone, called "Ingenuity". This documentary follows the rover's development, right up to its landing in the Jezero Crater on February 18, 2021.
The mission proved to be a complete success: the robot landed safely and all the instruments on board functioned smoothly. As a result, "Perseverance" was able to deliver high-resolution images of Mars. But getting there was an arduous journey for all involved.
On site, "Perseverance" takes samples from the crater, which scientists believe was once a river delta. Geological traces of past life - so-called biosignatures - could be hidden in the rock. Eventually, these samples will be brought back to Earth for analysis. Among other things, they could provide insights into possible life on Mars.
The four-pound mini-helicopter "Ingenuity", which traveled in the belly of the rover, is now carrying out a series of test flights. These are the first of their kind to be undertaken on another planet. Another task of "Perseverance" is to test an innovative technology for extracting oxygen from the atmosphere. It is hoped that the gas can be used as fuel -- or to supply oxygen for future manned flights to Mars.

New Evidence of Water on Mars Thanks to NASA Curiosity Rover Discovery | Spacing Out
Curiosity’s still got it.
It’s been over a decade since NASA’s Mars Curiosity Rover first touched down on the Red Planet, but it continues to make amazing new discoveries. Curiosity’s latest? A set of rippled rocks in the foothills of a Martian mountain, formed when waves stirred up sediment on the bottom of an ancient lake. This is some of the strongest evidence of water on Mars that Curiosity has ever seen.
Among the world's largest science centers, the Museum of Science engages millions of people each year to the wonders of science and technology through interactive exhibitions, digital programs, giant screen productions, and preK – 8 EiE® STEM curricula through the William and Charlotte Bloomberg Science Education Center. Established in 1830, the Museum is home to such iconic experie...

Mars Exploration!
Mars exploration refers to the scientific efforts to study and understand the Red Planet through robotic missions and, eventually, human expeditions. Since the 1960s, spacecraft, rovers, and landers have been sent to Mars to gather data on its atmosphere, surface, geology, and potential for life. Key missions include NASA's rovers like Curiosity and Perseverance, which analyze Martian soil and search for signs of past life, and orbiters like Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter that map the planet in detail. The exploration of Mars aims to answer fundamental questions about the planet's history and its potential for future human colonization.

Nasa Perseverance Mars rover begins key journey to find life - BBC News
Nasa's Perseverance rover has reached a big moment in its mission to find evidence of life on Mars.
The robot will begin to climb up an ancient delta feature in the crater where it landed, stopping to examine rocks that could possibly retain evidence of life.
On its way back down, Perseverance will collect some of these rocks, placing the samples at the base of the delta to be retrieved by later missions.
The goal is to bring this material back to Earth in the 2030s for detailed inspection.
The BBC’s Science editor Rebecca Morelle reports.

From Wiki : Spirit, MER-A (Mars Exploration Rover -- A), is a robotic rover on Mars, active from 2004 to 2010. It was one of two rovers of NASA's ongoing Mars Exploration Rover Mission. It landed successfully on Mars at 04:35 Ground UTC on January 4, 2004, three weeks before its twin, Opportunity (MER-B), landed on the other side of the planet. Its name was chosen through a NASA-sponsored student essay competition. The rover became stuck in late 2009, and its last communication with Earth was sent on March 22, 2010.
The rover completed its planned 90-sol mission. Aided by cleaning events that resulted in higher power from its solar panels, Spirit went on to function effectively over twenty times longer than NASA planners expected following mission completion. Spirit also logged 7.73 km (4.8 mi) of driving instead of the planned 600 m (0.4 mi), allowing more extensive geological analysis of Martian rocks and planetary surface features. Initial scientific results from the first phase of the mission (the 90-sol prime mission) were published in a special issue of the journal Science.
On May 1, 2009 (5 years, 3 months, 27 Earth days after landing; 21.6 times the planned mission duration), Spirit became stuck in soft soil. This was not the first of the mission's "embedding events" and for the following eight months NASA carefully analyzed the situation, running Earth-based theoretical and practical simulations, and finally programming the rover to make extrication drives in an attempt to free itself. These efforts continued until January 26, 2010 when NASA officials announced that the rover was likely irrecoverably obstructed by its location in soft soil, though it continued to perform scientific research from its current location.
The rover continued in a stationary science platform role until communication with Spirit stopped on sol 2210 (March 22, 2010). JPL continued to attempt to regain contact until May 24, 2011, when NASA announced that efforts to communicate with the unresponsive rover had ended. A formal farewell was planned at NASA headquarters after the Memorial Day holiday and was televised on NASA TV.
Hope you enjoyed it!

A few years ago I threw together some Mars images and rendered them in 4k. Back then, I had little editing knowledge. The video went on to get over 60 Million views. It was something that hadn't been done before, and was a case of the right place at the right time. I'm not expecting this video to come close to the view count of the original, but I just wanted to do it justice and give you all something nice to watch. Thank you all so much for your support over the years, and thanks to our patrons for your contributions to the channel. - ElderFox

The footage, captured directly by NASA's Mars rovers - Spirit, Opportunity, Curiosity, and Perseverance - unveils the red planet's intricate details. These rovers, acting as robotic geologists, have traversed varied terrains, from ancient lake beds to towering mountains, uncovering Mars' complex geological history.
As viewers enjoy these images, they will notice informal place names assigned by NASA's team, providing context to the Martian features observed. Each rover's unique journey is highlighted, showcasing their contributions to Martian exploration.
Spirit and Opportunity, the trailblazers, revealed the first conclusive evidence of water on Mars, forever changing our understanding of the planet. The Curiosity rover, a mobile laboratory, has been climbing Mount Sharp for over a decade, unveiling layers of Martian history and providing insights into the planet's climatic changes.
Perseverance, the latest rover, accompanied by the Ingenuity helicopter, explores Jezero Crater, an ancient lakebed. This duo represents the pinnacle of Mars exploration technology, with Ingenuity serving as the first aircraft to fly on another planet, scouting and capturing breathtaking aerial images.
The video also delves into the scientific achievements of these missions. Discoveries of past water systems on Mars lead to the tantalizing question of past life on the planet. Each rover's journey, such as Opportunity's 28-mile trek, is a testament to human ingenuity and the relentless pursuit of knowledge.
As viewers immerse themselves in this Martian experience, they are reminded of the significance of these moments in cosmic history. The video encourages viewers to appreciate the monumental strides made in understanding our celestial neighbor and to share this awe-inspiring journey with others.
Finally, the video invites viewers to delve deeper into the ongoing saga of the Perseverance rover and Ingenuity helicopter, encouraging exploration of the full journey these incredible machines have embarked upon on the Martian surface.
