One of the most brutal executions of the Tudor period saw a young woman from York being crushed to death on a bridge near to the historic city. The Tudor period was a very dangerous time in History for people to live, especially those who held different religious beliefs to the King or Queen. Margaret Clitherow was one of these people, and she became a Catholic after converting in her younger years. She lived during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, who tried to solve problems with religion by issuing a religious settlement, but this was tough for Catholics and their worship was banned and outlawed. Clitherow was imprisoned a number of times for refusing to attend Protestant Church of England services, and was held inside York Castle. But as the years went on she became more staunchly Catholic and rebellious, and she began to hide priests and Catholic artefacts in her house on the Shambles in York. The Shambles is a historic and incredibly busy street, but under her husbands nose, Clitherow was organising secret Catholic worship. This was a crime which was punishable by death, and her husband was even one of those who told the local government about Catholic worship.
Clitherow hid priests in her house on The Shambles, and continued to do so until she was caught. She was arrested again and was then brought to trial for her religious crimes, but she refused to give either an innocent or guilty please. She did this to protect her husband and children from torture or being forced to testify. To try to get a plea from Clitherow, the judge ordered that she should be put to death by her own door. She was to be executed in a horrifically brutal way. She was taken to a bridge in York and her front door was brought, and then she was forced to lie down on top of a large rock that jabbed into her back and spine. Her door was lay on top of her, and then 900 pounds of weight was added. This brutally killed Margaret Clitherow and her ordeal was 15 minutes of pure agony. After her death, she became known as a martyr and as 'The Pearl of York,' for her brutal death.

3 Verses That “Destroy” Catholicism
It's often the case that anti-catholic people throw certain verses out with the mindset that they alone destroy the catholic faith. These are the top three that I have heard in my interactions here in Youtube world and other places.
You're going to have to bear with me in some of my sarcasm here, but I think you will get the idea. Maybe you have others or have heard others. Feel free to list them in the comments, but please be nice. God bless you all!

The Catholic Church has a history that spans over two thousand years, and it began with none other than Jesus Christ himself. At least, that is what modern popes believe. But at first, there was just one church, and there was no division between Catholics, Protestants, Eastern Orthodox, and other branches of Christianity. Christians all over the known world were united, and together, they made their spirituality bloom. Their religion took over the lives of villagers, nobles, kings, queens, and even newly-arrived pagan armies that came to conquer Europe.

I recently did a couple videos about stupid things Catholics and Protestants say to each other and one particular topic got a LOT of attention which was the idea that Catholics pray to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints and, as the accusation goes, this is a form of idolatry or divination or some such thing.
And while I made a few quick points in that video, I thought, given how much attention that got, I should give this topic a little more time and nuance here.
To set the stage here, I’m going to repeat what I said in that previous video which is that Catholics do not worship saints, but we do pray to them. And while all worship includes prayer, not all prayer is a form of worship.
In the same way that all singing involves the use of your voice but not all use of your voice is singing.
Prayer just means communication and as Catholics, we communicate with saints and seek their intercession. Now, even if that’s not worship, that’s bad enough in the eyes of many protestants because that is seen as looking for an intermediary other than Jesus or it’s simply communicating with the dead, both of which are forbidden in scripture.

The Confusing Hierarchy of the Catholic Church
The bishop of Rome, better known as the pope, is at the top of the hierarchy of the Catholic Church. Below him are the cardinals, who pick the next pope. Then there are the archbishops and the bishops. Then the priests, then the deacons, then the non-clergy, the laity. It’s a ladder that can be confusing. In this episode of Intrigued Mind, we are taking a look at the sometimes confusing ladder of authority for the biggest church in the world.
