The Malayan National Liberation Army (MNLA), often mistranslated as the Malayan Races Liberation Army or MRLA, was a guerrilla army based in the Malayan peninsula and Singapore. It originally fought the Japanese during the second world war as the Malayan People's Anti-Japanese Army (MPAJA), from 1948-1960 it fought British and Commonwealth forces for an independent Malaya. In 1968 the MNLA resurged operating from Southern Thailand it fought against the Malaysian government in various areas of the Malayan jungle mainly in the North. In 1989 the Malayan Communist Party signed a peace treaty with the Malaysian state and the MNLA and the Party settled in villages in southern Thailand.
Name
Malayan Races Liberation Army is a translation from the Chinese 马来亚民族解放军 where 民族 means "nationality" in the ethnic sense. The organization's leader Chin Peng has called this a mistranslation and corrected it to Malayan National Liberation Army (MNLA). The name of the MNLA in Malay (Malay:Tentera Pembebasan Rakyat Malaya) could also be translated as the Malayan People's Liberation Army although extant records show that the title Tentera Pembebasan Nasional Malaya or MNLA became the normal self-identity by the 1970s.
The National Liberation Army (Albanian:Ushtria Çlirimtare Kombëtare - UÇK; Macedonian:Ослободителна народна армија - ОНА, Osloboditelna narodna armija - ONA), also known as the Macedonian UÇK, is a militant organization that operated in the Republic of Macedonia in 2001 and was closely associated with the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
Following the 2001 Macedonian War, it is believed it was disarmed under the terms of the Ohrid Agreement, under which greater rights and autonomy were to be given to the state's Macedonian Albanians, but incidents linked to splinter groups have taken place since 2010.
Background
Ali Ahmeti organized the NLA of former KLA fighters from Kosovo and Macedonia, Albanian insurgents from Preševo, Medveđa and Bujanovac in Serbia, young Albanian radicals and nationalists from Macedonia, and foreign mercenaries. The acronym was the same as KLA's in Albanian.
The NLA and the Macedonian War
The NLA was founded in the fall of 1999, and was led by former KLA Commander Ali Ahmeti, nephew of one of the founders of the KLA, but was out of the public eye until it began to openly engage the Macedonian military and police. The NLA's proclaimed goal was equal rights for the ethnic Albanian minority within a confederate Macedonia. Senior NLA commanders insisted that "We do not want to endanger the stability and the territorial integrity of Macedonia, but we will fight a guerrilla war until we have won our basic rights, until we are accepted as an equal people inside Macedonia." The Macedonian government claimed the NLA were an extremist terrorist organization seeking to separate Albanian majority areas and unite those territories with Albania.
The National Liberation Army (abbreviated as ELN, Spanish: Ejército de Liberación Nacional) was a Peruvianguerrilla group. It sought to gather militants regardless of their political affiliation. A short-lived movement that was formed in 1962 and carried out numerous small skirmishes and actions culminating in a seven-month peak of militant actions in 1965, the ELN was largely scattered by the Peruvian Army by December 1965.
Formation
The group had a varied composition that grew to share a "certain disdain of 'politics' and suspicion of any type of party organisation", as well as a few discontent members from the Peruvian Communist Party. This new movement included some former members of the MIRyouth branch.
Hector Bejar, http://www.hectorbejar.com one of the military commanders of the ELN, later summarised it as an attempt to create a "free association of revolutionaries" and "an army which would draw combatants together regardless of their ideologies or political affiliations". Following their collapse, Bejar remarked that one of their core mistakes had been not liaising and keeping communications open with larger revolutionary movements that could have supported them as they were attacked by the Peruvian Army; instead, they had opted to believe they could remain self-sufficient and rely on local recruits from the villages and plantations.

The National Liberation Army, known as the ELN is one of many 20th century Latin American guerrilla movements inspired by Marxist ideology and the success of the 1959 Cuban revolution.

Was there ever a Scottish IRA? | Scotland's Paramilitaries (1969-2014)
Northern Ireland was, and to an extent, still is famous for its paramilitary organisations. Republican paramilitaries like the IRA, and their Unionist or Loyalist counterparts the UDA and the UVF were infamous for their attacks in Northern Ireland and abroad. In Scotland, there was remarkably little violence during the period of the Troubles, and no real groundswell of support emerged for creating their own armed organisations. Having said that, there were some attempts to set up Scottish Nationalist militias determined to achieve Scotland's independence.

Although Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos is still not ready for the Colombian military to enter into the ceasefire declared by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), it appears the the National Liberation Army (ELN) is ready to lay down its weapons, on the condition that President Santos guarantees his group a legitimate place in the countrys political forum and peace process. teleSUR http://multimedia.telesurtv.net/v/colombias-national-liberation-army-ready-to-lay-down-its-weapons/

The war was largely fought in the jungles between the pro-independence communist fighters of the MalayanNationalLiberationArmy, and the soldiers of the British colonisers ... National Liberation Army.
