EZY Wheels | Shipping Container Moving Parts | Shipping Container Axels
Our EZY wheels are available in 6 or 8-lug options. They come as a set of 2 axles with lug nuts. You provide wheels and tires, with either a 6x5.5 lug pattern or an 8x6.5 lug pattern. These common lug patterns on modern trailers are readily available at farm supply stores or tire shops.
Shipping containers can be difficult to move without the right equipment. These rugged and simple adapters mount in a jiffy to any shipping container so you can lift the other end and tow it along like a trailer in your yard or around the farm.
Paired with suitable wheels and tires, these are ideally suited to off-road applications where the terrain is less than smooth or soft.
Review: We started using Witte Fabrication and the EZY Wheels products about three years ago. Since then, we've been able to mov...

Shipping Containers: The Box that Changed the World
By some estimates, there are as many as a half billion intermodal shipping containers in the world today, and they move virtually everything that can be moved for a fraction of the previous cost.

Should you buy a shipping container pool?
This topic was a popular request on earlier comments.
Swimming pools have become a suburban status symbol. Not only are they glamorized in movies and tv shows, but youtube channels such as Architectural Digest showcase envy inducing swimming pools in the backyards of celebrities signifying luxury, leisure and glamor. To the rest of us, they are a symbol of prosperity and an escape from the daily grid.
But behind all the glamor, pool construction is actually very disruptive, it’s a laborious undertaking, and is pretty expensive. So when shipping container pools come along promising an all in one solution, where a box holding a pool and all the pool equipment can be simply delivered to your site, connected to your water supply and set up in just one day, it seems like a very appealing alte...

In this week's video, Channing will take you around our Container Yard to show you what to look for, and what to avoid while looking to buy or rent a shipping container!
Things to consider while purchasing a Shipping Container:
Only Used Once (One Trip):
-Perfect for Storage
-Can be CSC Certified for Ocean-Vessel Shipment
-Very few dents or scratches (if any at all)
-Won’t require any painting
-Won’t require pressure wash
-Surface rust is very minimal
Many local municipalities or inspectors require the use of OTU condition containers for varying reasons. These are only a few examples and the important lesson here is that you do not want to spend thousands of dollars modifying a container only to find out afterwards it does not pass inspection or code.
-Perfect For Storage
-Secure, Rodent Proof & Watertight
-Can be CSC Certified for Ocean-Vessel Shipment
-Many dents or scratches (if any at all)
-May require some painting
-May require a pressure wash
-Some surface rust should be expected
If you’re looking for a used shipping container to export, we recommend a CWO (cargo-worthy) container. CWO containers are used shipping containers ranging in age from 10-15+ years old that will pass a CSC (container safety certification) survey.
Roughly 12-15+ years in age, wind and water tight containers have been retired from shipping service by the intermodal companies that own them.
International vs Domestic Containers
Ocean-going containers are all 8′ wide which is the width of a container vessel slot. Ocean going containers are utilized on roads, rail and ship which allow them to transport internationally. Ocean-going containers include both standard and high cube versions of 20′, 40′, and 45′. Containers must have a valid CSC plate in order to sail with cargo. One time use containers come with a valid CSC for a duration of 5 years before re-inspection is required.
You will notice some containers (48’s and 53’s) are 6″ wider (8’6″ wide outside). These are domestic containers meaning they stay in North America and only used on roads and rail. The extra 6″ of width is huge for some modifications that require over 8′ of interior width. The 53′ steel, non-insulated and aluminum insulated both provide 8’2″ width inside.
Manufacture Types – Container Selection for Your Next Mod Project
Container design for the most part has become standardized where most manufacturers’ finished products look pretty much identical. Container Modification World products are designed after the most common container type. If you are shopping for a container to modify and pan to use our kits, ensure the container you purchase has the following:
a 60 mm square tubing running the length of the container along the top of the corrugations.
corrugations that are 11″ o/c (actually 10 15/16″ or __mm) similar to Figure A. below
Conversely, what you do not want buy is a container with the flat bar running the length of the container welded to the top of the corrugations and the Hanjin style corrugations similar to Figure B. below.
Even if this seems confusing to yourself as the consumer, the two varying types should be common knowledge to your container retailer. If your retailer doesn’t know the difference, they likely do not have much experience in the industry and you might want to continue to call around.
B E W A R E O F S C A M S:
You may have heard about last year's scams that targeted unsuspecting buyers looking to purchase containers online in Eastern Canada. They are now targeting customers in North America using companies like The Container Guy to scam honest people out of thousands of dollars.
We want to take some time to address our customers and show you a few ways to protect yourself from being scammed.
1. Verify the number you’re calling matches the company’s. You can do a simple Google search or look them up in a phonebook.
2. Check the email closely for any inconsistencies. For example, our email domains are @thecontainerguy.ca and @tcg.ca. If the email they provide is any different, it is a scam.
3. Ensure you receive an official estimate and/or sales order before sending payment. At TCG we ALWAYS send a sales document before asking for payment.
4. If in doubt, you can verify you’re dealing with the correct dealer by calling their office.

Since then, we've been able to move containers, more quickly than ever. The staff at Witte Fabrication is professional, knowledgeable and efficient. No need to look elsewhere and there is no better product than EZY Wheels. Thanks Jason!

Since then, we've been able to move containers, more quickly than ever. The staff at Witte Fabrication is professional, knowledgeable and efficient. No need to look elsewhere and there is no better product than EZY Wheels. Thanks Jason!

So when shipping container pools come along promising an all in one solution, where a box holding a pool and all the pool equipment can be simply delivered to your site, connected to your water supply and set up in just one day, it seems like a very appealing alternative. This shipping container pool company based in Australia repurposes both 20’ and 40’ containers. The containers are cut in half, reinforced with steel. The heater, pool pump, sand filter and salt chlorinator are tucked away on one side of the container. Steps lead up to a landing, allowing easy access into the swimming pool. The inside of the pool is made of a molded fiberglass shell which is smooth and nonporous. You can customize your shipping container pool on their website by choosing three different fiberglass shell colors and six different outside polyurethane paint colors. You can choose a standard chlorine pool, a salt pool or a mineral pool. They also say that if you are moving houses, their pools are fully portable.
The biggest advantage of a shipping container pool is the ease of installation. It’s a complete product, ready to be used. It’s not as disruptive as traditional pool construction, You don’t have to excavate earth and build retaining walls which can be very tricky when you’re on a sloped site. If, for some reason, you wanted to transfer your pool to another location, you could rent a crane and put it on a trailer to a new site.
But let’s look at all the disadvantages of it. First off, the reinforcement. The walls of the container are made of 3/16” sheet metal which cannot withstand the outward and downward force of water. Also, when these containers are cut in half, the corrugated walls are going to flex because they aren’t tied to the structural frame any more, so the top rim of the container has to be reinforced.
Waterproofing is another issue. Shipping containers are designed to keep water out, not to hold water inside. To make it waterproof, you can use a fiberglass insert like we saw earlier, or the container can go through an expensive conversion process where another layer of steel is welded to the corrugated walls. A pvc liner or a cement plaster lining is applied to the new steel walls. This extra layer also adds a considerable amount of weight to the pool so the foundation slab that it sits on has to be designed accordingly.
Next up, insulation. As we saw in the earlier video, there is no additional insulation around the fiberglass insert. If your shipping container pool is temperature controlled, it’s going to lose a lot of heat through the side walls. The earth surrounding inground pools provides more insulation than people realize and without it, the perfect water temperature can be difficult and expensive to maintain. Shipping container pools are best used over ground because steel can corrode underground. If you choose to place these pools underground, you have to pour retaining walls and a slab to keep the earth from pushing the flimsy corrugated steel walls in. At that point, you might as well have a typical inground pool.
