Ronnie Lee Milsap (born January 16, 1943) is an American country music singer and pianist. He was one of country music's most popular and influential performers of the 1970s and 1980s. He became country music's first successful blind singer, and one of the most successful and versatile country "crossover" singers of his time, appealing to both country and pop music markets with hit songs that incorporated pop, R&B, and rock and roll elements. His biggest crossover hits include "It Was Almost Like a Song", "Smoky Mountain Rain", "(There's) No Gettin' Over Me", "I Wouldn't Have Missed It for the World", "Any Day Now", and "Stranger in My House". He is credited with six Grammy Awards and forty No. 1 country hits, third to George Strait and Conway Twitty. He was selected for induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2014.
Milsap was born January 16, 1943, in Robbinsville, North Carolina. A congenital disorder left him almost completely blind. Abandoned by his mother as an infant, he was raised by his grandparents in the Smoky Mountains until the age of five, when he was sent to the Governor Morehead School for the Blind in Raleigh, North Carolina. During his childhood he lost his remaining vision, and both his eyes were eventually removed. Throughout his childhood, he was interested in music—particularly the late-night broadcasts of country music, gospel music, and rhythm and blues. In concert, he has often paid tribute to the artists who have inspired him the most including Ray Charles, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley.
Ronnie Milsap is the first studio album from country music artist Ronnie Milsap. It was released in 1971 on Warner Bros. Records. It remains the only Milsap album that has never been released in the CD format.
Among the tracks on the album was "Please Don't Tell Me How the Story Ends," which he re-recorded in 1974 after he signed a contract with RCA Nashville and established himself as a hitmaker in country music. The remake went on to be a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart.
Kenneth Ray "Kenny" Rogers (born August 21, 1938) is an American singer, songwriter and record producer. He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Though he has been most successful with country audiences, he has charted more than 120 hit singles across various music genres, topped the country and pop album charts for more than 200 individual weeks in the United States alone and has sold over 120 million records worldwide, certifying his position as one of the best-selling music artists of all time. On September 25, 2015 he announced on NBC's "Today" Show that he was retiring from show business after a final tour to spend more time with his wife and twin boys.
Two of his albums, The Gambler and Kenny, are featured in the About.com poll of "The 200 Most Influential Country Albums Ever". He was voted the "Favorite Singer of All-Time" in a 1986 joint poll by readers of both USA Today and People. He has received numerous such awards as the AMAs, Grammys, ACMs and CMAs, as well as a lifetime achievement award for a career spanning six decades in 2003.
Kenneth Scott Rogers (born November 10, 1964 in Savannah, Georgia) is a former American Major League Baseball (MLB) left-handed pitcher. During a 20-year baseball career, he pitched from 1989 to 2008 for six different teams. In addition to being known for his fielding (winning five Gold Glove Awards), he pitched the fourteenth perfect game in major league baseball history. In 2008, he was the oldest baseball player in the American League.
Rogers is sometimes nicknamed "The Gambler", after a song made famous by a singer who shares his name.
Rogers grew up on a 15-acre (6.1 ha) farm in Dover, Florida.
He, his wife Rebecca Lewis, and children Jessica and Trevor Rogers reside in Westlake, Texas. He enjoys golf, fishing, and building houses for Habitat for Humanity.
Rogers was assigned to the Texas Rangers farm team after being drafted in the 39th round for $1,000 when he was 17 years old. He graduated from Plant City High School in Florida in 1982, where he played baseball only during his senior season, hitting .375 as a right fielder (he played shortstop in his senior league). He was converted into a pitcher on the strength of his throwing arm and left-handedness. Rogers spent seven years in the minor leagues before making it to the Rangers in 1989 as a reliever. He became a starting pitcher for the club in 1993.
Kenny Rogers is the title of Kenny Rogers' second solo album for United Artists Records, released worldwide in 1977. The album marked his first major solo success following the minor success of Love Lifted Me in 1976.
The album produced two singles. The first single, 1976's "Laura (What He's Got That I Ain't Got?)", peaked at #19. This song was originally a #1 country hit for Leon Ashley in 1967. In 1977, Kenny gained stardom with the single "Lucille", which climbed to the top of the country charts (both in the U.S. and Canada) and placing him squarely on the U.S. Hot 100 in the #5 position. It also blew open his solo career in the UK, reaching #1 there. Another track from the album is "I Wasn't Man Enough" which makes appearances on some of Rogers' greatest hits compilations in years to come.
The album reached #1 on the Country charts and ranked as high as #30 overall, and was certified Platinum in the U.S. (only reaching Gold in Canada).

Ronnie Milsap - "Smoky Mountain Rain" is taken from the 1980 "Greatest Hits" album. (Lyrics) I thumbed my way from L.A. back to Knoxville I found out those bright lights ain't where I belong From a phone booth in the rain I called to tell her I've had a change of dreams, I'm comin' home But tears filled my eyes when I found out she was gone Smoky mountain rain keeps on fallin' I keep on callin' her name Smoky mountain rain, I'll keep on searchin' Can't go on hurtin' this way She's somewhere in the smoky mountain rain I waved a diesel down outside a cafe He said that he was goin' as far as Gatlinburg I climbed up in the cab, all wet and cold and lonely I wiped my eyes and told him about her I've got to find her, can you make these big wheels burn? Anyone can read the signs
Or the writing on the wall
It’s all right there to see
Except someone like me
Who can’t see the truth at all.
It takes a special kind of fool
To stand out in the rain
Somewhere in between
Nothing left to lose
And nothing to be gained.
What kind of fool does it take?
To go on loving alone
Like there’s some answer in the ruins
Some silver lining to be found.
An even bigger fool might think
You would care if my arm breaks
Before the time that I admit
I’m just the kind of fool love makes.
A wiser one would see
Nothing’s gonna change
There’s a time for giving up
A time for letting go
To learn from our mistakes.
But I keep holding on to hope
In spite of everything I know
What kind of fool ….
It takes a bigger fool to think
That the dawn will never break
On this day that I admit
I’m just the kind of fool love makes.
