A Patch of Blue is a 1965 American drama film directed by Guy Green about the relationship between a black man, Gordon (played by Sidney Poitier), and a blind white female teenager, Selina (Elizabeth Hartman), and the problems that plague their relationship when they fall in love in a racially divided America. Made in 1965 against the backdrop of the growing civil rights movement, the film explores racism from the perspective of "love is blind."
Scenes of Poitier and Hartman kissing were excised from the film when it was shown in film theaters in the Southern United States. These scenes are intact in the DVD version. According to the DVD audio commentary, it was the decision of director Guy Green that APatch of Blue be filmed in black-and-white, although color was available.
The main title is the music, often later recorded on soundtrack albums, that is heard in a film while the opening credits are rolling. It does not refer to music playing from on-screen sources such as radios, as in the original opening credits sequence in Touch of Evil.
A main title can consist of a tune sung by the leading character over the credits, such as Moon River, sung by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, or the main orchestral theme as written by the composer, such as the famous The Pink Panther Theme. It can also be a medley of themes from the film, as in the 1959 Ben-Hur. In the film A Hard Day's Night, the title tune was heard over the opening credits showing the Beatles running from their fans. An overture may serve as a main title, as in The Sound of Music. However, there is a very strong difference in a roadshow theatrical release between an overture and a main title. The overture in such films is heard on pre-recorded tape or film, before the film even begins, while the house lights are still up and there is yet no picture on the screen. The main title begins when the film actually starts. In the case of The Sound of Music though (and also Fiddler on the Roof), no overture was heard before the lights in the theatre went down; therefore, in these cases, the main title did serve as an overture. Both films had pre-credits opening sequences; during these, the first song from the film was sung, and immediately afterwards, the main title music followed.
Mark Lawrence (born January 1, 1968) is a novelist of dual nationality (American and British), best known for his The Broken Empire trilogy of books. In 2014, Lawrence won the David Gemmell Legend Awards for best novel for Emperor of Thorns.
Biography
Mark Lawrence was born on January 1, 1968, in the United States. While he was still young, his parents moved to the United Kingdom. He is married and has four children, one of whom is severely disabled. He works as a novelist and was a research scientist in the field of artificial intelligence. He has held secret level clearance with both US and UK governments, and at one point he was qualified to say "this isn't rocket science ... oh wait, it actually is."
Reception
Lawrence’s first work, Prince of Thorns, was published by Ace / Voyager in August 2011 and was a finalist in the Goodreads Choice Award for "Best Fantasy 2011", a David Gemmell Morningstar Award Finalist in 2012 and short listed for the Prix Imaginales (Roman étranger) in 2013. Prince of Thorns was also one of Barnes & Noble's "Best Fantasy Releases of 2011".

Sidney Poitier cemented his ascent to the Tinseltown firmament with this Guy Green (Light in the Piazza ) directed drama about a friendship between a black office worker (Poitier) and an uneducated blind white girl (Elizabeth Hartman in her screen debut). Selina d'Arcy lives with her racist, prostitute mother Rose-Ann (Shelley Winters, in an Academy Award® winning performance) and her alcoholic grandfather Ole Pa (character great Wallace Ford in his final film performance) and has scant knowledge of the outside world. But a chance encounter with the kindly Gordon Ralfe alters the trajectory of her life. This groundbreaking drama's glorious black and white photography from Robert Burks (Vertigo) shines as never before in this crisp 1080p HD presentation, while Jerry Goldsmith's soaring score has all the room it needs to deliver its sweep.
Special Features: Commentary by Director Guy Green; Featurette "A Cinderella Named Elizabeth"; Theatrical Trailer (HD). 16x9 Letterbox.

This video takes a look at some of the elements of Mark Lawrence’s Broken Empire Trilogy that place it among the greatest fantasy books of all time, including its narration, character development, and setting.

The Marketplace Conference is a one day event focused on all things marketplaces and unites marketplace entrepreneurs, investors and industry experts. It provides a platform for exchanging knowhow and best practices and attracts marketplaces entrepreneurs and investors of all stages.
So here I am Just a man with his empty hands Right here I'd go down on my knees And offer submission If it made my grey skies blue So hear my call Well, it won't make no difference at all Right here I would speak any vow And promise I'd give If it made my grey skies blue I know that I have a habit Of taking things too hard How often you've almost got mad about that Well, I know what you mean When you say things are never as bad as they seem Although I don't really think That you are truly right Every word I'll deny If I get through this night So here I am Just a man with his empty hands Right here I'd go down on my knees And offer submission If it made my grey skies blue So hear my call Well, it won't make no difference at all Right here I would speak any vow And promise I'd give If it made my grey skies blue Sometimes I wonder Why we try to plan anything at all It never works out And life goes on its own secret ways When I feel like I'm losing my grip I remind you still saying "Those days won't last forever, I swear you'll be back under skies of blue" Well, I know what you mean When you say life is not as unfair as it seems Although I don't really think That you are truly right Every word I'll deny If I get through this night So here I am Just a man with his empty hands Right here I'd go down on my knees And offer submission If it made my grey skies blue So hear my call Well, it won't make no difference at all Right here I would speak any vow And promise I'd give
