Professional Fossil Hunter’s Luck At Lyme Regis.
Let’s go fossil hunting along the Jurassic Coast. I am fossil hunting West of Lyme Regis today.I’m going fossil hunting along the Jurassic Coast at low tide. I’d like to find some of the beautiful little pyrite ammonites that wash out along the beach at low tide. Little nuggets of gold delight, saved from the shifting sands. I recommend wearing safety glasses and sturdy rubber gloves when hammering the right little rocks. I am going to show you a video of me splitting an ammonite out of a limestone rock.I have spent along time sizing up the manner in which certain ammonites 'pop' out of the rock. So look and learn how i spend alot of time sizing the rock up. Fossil hunting really does take hours of patience and persistence. I’m going to show you me looking for those ammonite bearing rocks...

Fossil Hunting At Lyme Regis Beach In Dorset - Jurassic Coast, UK
See this extraordinary film of Mike Harrison finding an ammonite block. Mike is a Professional fossil collector in the Winter months, along the Jurassic Coast. You really need to know what you are looking for when out fossil hunting . I recommend wearing safety glasses and sturdy rubber gloves when hammering the right rocks. Remember the cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning. Keep away from the dangerous cliffs, the best fossils are washed out onto the beaches at low tide, by the sea's actions. Look out for the slippery seaweed on the ledges and rocks. I offer fossil walks along the Jurassic Coast on the following website, so feel free to take a look at the website I made, with our online fossil walks ——————http://www.lymeregisfossilwalks.com There is a fossil...

Lyme Regis is a town in west Dorset, England, 25 miles west of Dorchester and east of Exeter. Sometimes dubbed the "Pearl of Dorset", it lies by the English Channel at the Dorset–Devon border. It has noted fossils in cliffs and beaches on the Heritage or Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site.
Lyme Regis is a really lovely place to visit in Dorset. The town centre has some lovely shops and museums and the coastline, beaches and harbour in Lyme Regis are lovely to visit all year round.
Lyme Regis is a hotspot for fossil hunting!
This 95-mile-long stretch of coast is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of it's geological and historical importance. Among other things, that means the coast is rich with fossils.
The harbour wall, known as The Cobb, appears in Jane Austen's novel Persuasion, the John Fowles novel The French Lieutenant's Woman and the 1981 film of that name, partly shot in the town.

I’m going to show you me looking for those ammonite bearing rocks after Christmas time. Remember the cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning. Keep away from the dangerous cliffs, the best fossils are washed out onto the beaches at low tide, by the sea's actions. Look out for the slippery seaweed on the ledges and rocks. I offer fossil walks along the Jurassic Coast on the following website, so feel free to take a look at the website I made, with our online fossil walks ——————http://www.lymeregisfossilwalks.com There is a fossil collecting code of conduct in place along the Jurassic Coast.
