A lunisolar calendar is a calendar in many cultures whose date indicates both the moon phase and the time of the solar year. If the solar year is defined as a tropical year, then a lunisolar calendar will give an indication of the season; if it is taken as a sidereal year, then the calendar will predict the constellation near which the full moon may occur. Usually there is an additional requirement that the year have a whole number of months. In this case ordinary years consist of twelve months but every second or third year is an embolismic year, which adds a thirteenth intercalary, embolismic, or leap month.
Examples
The Hebrew, Buddhist, Hindu, Kurdish, Bengali, and Tibetan calendars, as well as the traditional Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Mongolian and Korean calendars, plus the ancient Hellenic, Coligny, and Babylonian calendars are all lunisolar. Also, some of the ancient pre-Islamic calendars in South Arabia followed a lunisolar system. The Chinese, Coligny and
Hebrew lunisolar calendars track more or less the tropical year whereas the Buddhist and Hindu lunisolar calendars track the sidereal year. Therefore, the first three give an idea of the seasons whereas the last two give an idea of the position among the constellations of the full moon. The Tibetan calendar was influenced by both the Chinese and Hindu calendars. The Germanic peoples also used a lunisolar calendar before their conversion to Christianity.

Why Do Some Countries Use Different Calendars?
▶ In this video I talk about the different calendars that exist throughout the world. I explain how, in general, calendars are categorized as either being Solar, Lunar, or Lunisolar; with the first being related to the position of the sun, the second related to the position of the moon, and the third related to both. I list some of the more well known calendars in each of these categories - such as the Chinese calendar, the Hebrew, the Islamic, or the Indian National Calendar - explaining in which circumstances they are used and understanding how most of the world, save a few exceptions, has adopted the Gregorian Calendar as its main civil calendar, using local ones for cultural and religious purposes only.

Reasons to Consider the Luni-Solar Sabbath & The Creator's Calendar
Some of the reasons I have decided to look into, and ultimately, keep the luni-solar calendar.
This video is not meant to convince you to "keep" or "believe" the luni-solar calendar, but it is meant to encourage prayerful and intentional study, specifically in regard to how the Bible tells us to keep track of time.
I will include links to other studies and videos I have found helpful in my journey, but the most important study you can do is quiet, prayerful time with your Bible.

Metonic Cycle:
Ancient mathematicians realized that if they wanted to keep the solar and lunar dates in line, the shortest possible cycle would take 19 years.
How many leap years would we have in this 19-year-cycle?
• 19 solar years are approximately 6939.75 days (= 19 years x 365.25 days)
• 19 years made of 12 lunar months are approximately 6732.84 days (= 19 years x 12 months x 29.53 days)
• Missing (leap) days: 19 "solar years" - 19 "years made of 12 lunar months" =
6939.75 days - 6732.84 days = 206.91 days.
So, after a period of 19 years, the lunair calendar is missing 207 days. (Which means that we must add 207 days thoughout the 19 years, in order to place the months back within t...

(Which means that we must add 207 days thoughout the 19 years, in order to place the months back within their respective seasons).
How will we add these 207 days without messing up the cycle of moon phases and the seasonal cycle? The best way to do this is by adding these missing days in the form of leap months.
• Converting days to months: (206.91 days)/29.53 days = 7.007 months
So, approximately 7 leap months must be added to compensate for the missing days. This means that during a period of 19 years, 7 will be leap years (containing 13 months each) and 12 will be regular years (containing 12 months each).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Many people believe that the Islamic Calendar is lunar. Yet, upon closer examination of the meanings of the Islamic months, it becomes clear that most of them define distinct seasonal events. Why is it the case, when the calendar is supposed to be lunar (and thus cannot keep track of seasons)?
Is it possible that the Islamic Calendar is a solar one? Well, this is unlikely because solar calendars cannot keep track of the moon phases, while Quran 2:189 mentions their importance for time-keeping.
So then, which one is it?
This video gives a detailed explanation of what the true Islamic Calendar is and presents evidence from the Holy Quran.

Troy Miller has made some interesting videos about this.
