Dimitri from Paris (born Dimitrios Yerasimos in October 1963) is a Frenchmusic producer and DJ of Greek origin. His musical influences are rooted in 1970s funk and disco sounds that spawned contemporary house music, as well as original soundtracks from 1950s and 1960s cult movies such as Breakfast at Tiffany's, La Dolce Vita and The Party, which were sampled in his album Sacrebleu. Dimitri fused these sounds with electro and block party hip hop he discovered in the 1980s.
Biography
Contrary to his musical pseudonym, Dimitri was born not in Paris but in Istanbul, Turkey. Born in Turkey to Rûm parents (i.e. Turks of Greek origin), Dimitri grew up in France where he discovered DJ-ing at home, using whatever he could find to "cut and paste" samples from disco hits heard on the radio, blending them together to make tapes. This early experimentation helped him launch his DJ career.
Early career
He started out by DJ-ing at the French station Radio 7, before moving on to Skyrock and finally to Radio NRJ, Europe's largest FM radio network, in 1986. There, he introduced the first ever house music show to be broadcast in France, while simultaneously producing under the direction of sound designer Michel Gaubert, runway soundtracks for fashion houses such as Chanel, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Hermès and Yves Saint-Laurent. He also released two solo EPs from 1993 to 1994 and contributed to the Yellow Productions compilation La Yellow 357.
"Lost in Music" was one of the group's biggest hits. It reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart (along with "We Are Family" and "He's The Greatest Dancer") for two weeks in March 1979, while charting at #35 on the US Billboard R&B chart (then called the Hot Soul Singles chart)). It also reached the UK top twenty in three separate decades. The original version reached #17 in 1979, while a "Special 1984 Nile Rodgers Remix" reached #4 in 1984. In 1993, the 'Sure Is Pure' remix reached #14.
In 2006, the 'Special 1984 Nile Rodgers Remix' was used in the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories soundtrack. Two years later, the song featured prominently in the karaoke style game show Who Dares, Sings!, being performed by the presenters at the start of each show.
Paris (UK: /ˈpærɪs/PARR-iss; US: i/ˈpɛərɪs/PAIR-iss; French: [paʁi]) is the capital and most populous city of France. Situated on the Seine River, in the north of the country, it is in the centre of the Île-de-Franceregion, also known as the région parisienne, "Paris Region". The City of Paris has an area of 105km² (41mi²) and a population of 2,241,346 (2014 estimate) within its administrative borders essentially unchanged since 1860.
Since the 19th century, the built-up area of Paris has grown far beyond its administrative borders; together with its suburbs, the whole agglomeration has a population of 10,550,350 (Jan. 2012 census).Paris' metropolitan area spans most of the Paris region and has a population of 12,341,418 (Jan. 2012 census), or one-fifth of the population of France. The administrative region covers 12,012km² (4,638mi²), with approximately 12 million inhabitants as of 2014, and has its own regional council and president.
Paris was founded in the 3rd century BC by a Celtic people called the Parisii, who gave the city its name. By the 12th century, Paris was the largest city in the western world, a prosperous trading centre, and the home of the University of Paris, one of the first in Europe. In the 18th century, it was the centre stage for the French Revolution, and became an important centre of finance, commerce, fashion, science, and the arts, a position it still retains today.
Emily Piriz, a contestant on the thirteenth season of American Idol covered this song during "Rush Week," a round featuring the top 20 contestants of the season. The song was well received by the judges, but Harry Connick Jr. raised some concerns as to whether or not she wanted to perform rather racy songs in the future.
Paris, Texas is a city and county seat of Lamar County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population of the city was 25,171. It is situated in Northeast Texas at the western edge of the Piney Woods, and 98 miles (158km) northeast of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. Physiographically, these regions are part of the West Gulf Coastal Plain.
Following a tradition of American cities named "Paris", a 65-foot (20m) replica of the Eiffel Tower was constructed in 1993. In 1998, presumably as a response to the 1993 construction of a 60-foot (18m) tower in Paris, Tennessee, the city placed a giant red cowboy hat atop the tower. The current tower is at least the second Eiffel Tower replica built in Paris; the first was constructed of wood and later destroyed by a tornado.
History
Lamar County was first settled in different parts of an area to the west of Jonesborough and Clarksville. There was a settlement on the Red River at a place called Fulton, one near what is now called Emberson, one to the southeast of that near where today is the North Lamar school complex, a fourth southwest of that at the Chisum-Johnson community called Pinhook, and a group of pioneers east of that at Moore's Springs. In late 1839, George W. Wright moved from his farm northeast of Clarksville to a hill where he had purchased 1,000 acres of unoccupied land. It was on the old road from the Kiomatia River's mouth at the Red River to the Grand Prairie. Wright opened a general store on the road. By December 1840 a new county had been formed, named for Republic of Texas President Mirabeau B. Lamar. By September 1841 Wright's store was called Paris and served as the local postal office. In August 1844, the county commissioners took Wright's offer of 50 acres and made Paris the county seat.

Lost in Paris, Lost in paris You, shining like a falling star along my way Walking in the streets of Paris I, looking through the city lights, love's like a game I've never felt so lost in Paris. I've seen your face everywhere Coming out of nowhere Your shadow's fading away Please don't leave me here this way. Once in your lifetime You can free yourself from your state of mind Tell me why you are so scared of me We can build together a place to hide. Now, let me walk along with you just one more time Walking in the streets of Paris Stay, we can wait together for the morning light 'cause my heart is lost in Paris. I've seen your face everywhere Coming out of nowhere Your shadow's fading away Please don't leave me here this way. Once in your lifetime You can free yourself from your state of mind Tell me why you are so scared of me We can build together a place to hide.
