Second Harvest (French:Regain) is a 1930 novel by the French writer Jean Giono. The narrative is set in a nearly abandoned village, where the last heir succeeds to find love in a woman who saves him from a river.
The book was published in English in 1939 as Harvest, in 1967 as Regain and in 1999 as Second Harvest. It was the basis for the 1937 film Harvest directed by Marcel Pagnol.
Reception
Publishers Weekly wrote in 1999: "Giono invests his prose with stunning descriptions of the countryside and lyrical evocations of the majestic seasons ('Spring clung to his shoulders like a big cat'). The couple's romance is practical and their partnership utilitarian, but Giono renders their love lavish as they make a life where the air smells of lavender and where 'such a passion has seized the earth... such a passion!'"
"Golden" is a song by American singer and rapper Travie McCoy featuring Australian recording artist Sia. It was released digitally as a single on June 15, 2015 through Fueled by Ramen.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, McCoy said, "I think 'Golden' is a cog in the machine that is the next album. Every song has its own shape and sound in order to make the machine move and work the way I want it to."
Background
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly online, McCoy said he met Sia four years ago, and he had been a fan of hers for years. "When we finally [met] we were totally kindred spirits. We had both gone through a lot and she became a sister to me very quickly. [...] This was probably the third of about three or four that we've recorded together. Who knows if the others will ever be heard, but they all mean so much to me. She actually wrote a song for me when I was going through some really hard times that I will always hold dear to my heart. She's an angel with the voice of one." Speaking on Entertainment Tonight, McCoy said, "It's like second nature working with Sia. We have this brotherly-sisterly vibe going on. Once I heard the hook, I kinda knew where I wanted to go lyrically and I wrote it in about 45 minutes... I think a lot of people can relate to having those tinglies in their stomach about that special somebody."
Infinity on High is the third studio album by American rock band Fall Out Boy, released on February 5, 2007 by Island Records as the follow-up to the band's commercially successful 2005 album From Under the Cork Tree. Pre-production began in the group's hometown of Chicago, where writing and rehearsal sessions took place. It was recorded from July to October 2006 at the Pass Studios in Los Angeles, California and mixed at the Paramount Recording Studios in Hollywood. The music was composed by lead singer and guitarist Patrick Stump and the lyrics were penned by bassist Pete Wentz.
The album features collaborations with new producers and guest artists such as Babyface and Jay-Z, and sees the band experimenting with musical genres other than pop punk including R&B, soul, and flamenco. The group also utilized instruments such as horns, violins and pianos, which had not been used on previous releases. As reported by Billboard, Fall Out Boy "drifts further from its pop punk roots to write increasingly accessible pop tunes," a slight departure from the group's previous sound. Critics felt that the lyrics served as a response to the band's rise to fame. The group embarked on several tours to promote the album, including the Friends or Enemies Tour, the Honda Civic Tour, and the Young Wild Things Tour. In the wake of the album's leak on the internet, the band included a download code for Leaked in London, a live extended play, with each purchase made during the first week of its initial release.
Flight dynamics is the study of the performance, stability, and control of vehicles flying through the air or in outer space. It is concerned with how forces acting on the vehicle influence its speed and attitude with respect to time.
In fixed-wing aircraft, the changing orientation of the vehicle with respect to the local air flow is represented by two critical parameters, angle of attack ("alpha") and angle of sideslip ("beta"). These angles describe the vector direction of airspeed, important because it is the principal source of modulations in the aerodynamic forces and moments applied to the aircraft.
Spacecraft flight dynamics involve three forces: propulsive (rocket engine), gravitational, and lift and drag (when traveling through the earths or any other celestial atmosphere). Because aerodynamic forces involved with spacecraft flight are very small, this leaves gravity as the dominant force.
Aircraft and spacecraft share a critical interest in their orientation with respect to the earth horizon and heading, and this is represented by another set of angles, "yaw," "pitch" and "roll" which angles match their colloquial meaning, but also have formal definition as an Euler sequence. These angles are the product of the rotational equations of motion, where orientation responds to torque, just as the velocity of a vehicle responds to forces. For all flight vehicles, these two sets of dynamics, rotational and translational, operate simultaneously and in a coupled fashion to evolve the vehicle's state (orientation and velocity) trajectory.
