Egypt: The WORST Country I Ever Visited – My WARNING to Future Travelers
When I visited Egypt, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was very excited to witness ancient Egypt, I've always been fascinated by the pyramids and their construction. From exploring the top ten sites, from the pyramids of Giza, the Giant Sphinx, Temple of Luxor, Temple of Karnak, avenue of Sphinxes, to the valley of kings and queens we explored it all in this travel vlog. From dangerous cities to sketchy neighborhoods, I experienced it all. In this video, I share my journey and the lessons I learned along the way. I was sad to see travelers exploited from the second they arrived in the airport. Constant solicitation and scammers take away from once a magical place. I don't even know how to begin to describe the animal cruelty I witnessed. From Cairo to Luxor there wasn't much...

New Discovery in Egypt Shakes Up Everything We Know
A new discovery in Egypt’s pyramids has left experts rethinking everything they thought they knew. Scientists recently found hidden chambers deep inside the Great Pyramid of Giza using advanced scanning technology. These rooms have never been explored and could reveal secrets about how the pyramid was built or what it was used for. The discovery is exciting because it opens up the possibility of new treasures or historical clues hidden within Egypt's most famous monument. Researchers are now planning how to carefully explore these chambers without damaging the ancient structure. This discovery could completely change our understanding of ancient Egypt!

This huge open-air construction site symbolizes the building fever that seems to be afflicting Egypt. Huge railroad construction site, the largest museum in the world dedicated to a civilization, the largest artificial river in the world ... The list of pharaonic projects currently under construction is long.
For its future, Egypt is thinking big, very big. Some economists even think it is too big, as all these investments, most of which are being made with public money, are a burden on the country's budget. The country is in a very unstable economic situation.
As you will have noticed, today we are heading to the Nile to explore the biggest construction projects in Egypt and their impact on life in this country of more than 106 million inhabitants.

From Cairo to Luxor there wasn't much of a difference, but I can definitely recommend Luxor over Cairo. This is my warning to all future travelers: tread lightly, and be prepared for anything!"

Lyrics:
Verse 1
I won’t forget
The wonder of how You brought
Deliverance
The exodus of my heart
Pre Chorus
You found me
You freed me
Held back the waters for my release
Oh Yahweh
Chorus
You’re the God who fights for me
Lord of every victory
Hallelujah, hallelujah
You have torn apart the sea
You have led me through the deep
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Verse 2
A cloud by day
A sign that You are with me
The fire by night
A guiding light to my feet
Bridge
You stepped into my Egypt
You took me by the hand
You marched me out in freedom
Into the promised land
Now I will not forget You
I’ll sing of all You’ve done
Death is swallowed up forever
By the fury of Your love
Written by Cory Asbury, Phil Wickham, Ethan Hulse, Brian Johnson, and Lee Cummings

Hello friends! Welcome to a new Happy Learning video.
As you can see in the images, today we are going to talk about pyramids, mummies and
pharaohs. Today, we are going to travel to Ancient Egypt.
Egypt is a country that still exists today, situated in North Eastern Africa, but what we call Ancient Egypt is a civilisation that started more than 5.000 years ago and lasted for approximately three thousand years.
Its origins commences with Pharaoh Narmer, also known as the Scorpion King, who in 3200 B.C. funded this country at the Nile’s bank.
The river Nile is the largest river in Africa and was the most important existing thing for egyptians, since they depended on its water to survive.
Their whole civilisation and cities rose from the river's bank.
The Nile was so important because Egypt is a country surrounded by desert, and cultivations could only take place at its shores. But it wasn’t only used for agriculture, the river was also used to fish and hunt. And they also used it, as a great road to transport goods or large stone blocks, used for their constructions.
All of this is why the Nile was considered to be a God.
Actually, Ancient Egyptians had hundreds of Gods. Some had a human’s body and an animal’s head, like the Goddess Bastet, who had a lion’s head, or God Anubis, and his jackal head.
But the most important of all, was Ra, God of Sun, who had a falcon’s head.
The pharaohs were Ancient Egypt’s Kings. There where many pharaohs over 3000 years, but the most famous one was Tutankamon. Ancient Egyptians believed in life after death, and therefore they were buried with their belongings: furniture, vases, clothes and even food. They believed that this way these things could be used in their next life. As pharaohs had the greatest power, they wanted to have the best tombs. And they got them! These tremendous pyramids were built for pharaohs tombs. Inside them, there are many tunnels, chambres and secret passageways.
When they died, pharaohs and some noblemen’s bodies were mummified to preserve their bodies after death. These are the famous mummies.
Mummies were placed in a sarcophagus, luxurious coffins that were covered in beautiful drawings and hieroglyphics. Hieroglyphics were the mysterious Egyptian writings. Their meaning was a mystery for thousands of years, but thanks to archaeologists, we can translate them and partly understand what they want to say.
The truth is everything in Ancient Egypt’s circle fascinates me.
You already know, that discovering the future makes us understand the present, and improve the future.

The Spotted Flycatcher
The Spotted Flycatcher (Muscicapa striata) is a small passerine bird that belongs to the flycatcher family. These birds are known for their elegant appearance and exceptional hunting skills. They have a distinct plumage, featuring pale underparts, a brownish-gray upper body, and conspicuous dark spots on their crown and back.
As its name suggests, the Spotted Flycatcher is an adept flycatcher. It uses its keen eyesight to spot flying insects and then launches into quick flights to capture them mid-air. After catching its prey, it returns to its perch to consume it.

Nesting Spotted Flycatchers | Muscicapa striata | British Birding
In this video I follow nesting Spotted Flycatchers feeding their chicks over a period of eight days watching them grow and fledge. Watch the flycatcher chicks growing up day by day at a remarkable rate and make the parent birds work hard in catching insects to feed them. Spotted Flycatcher, Muscicapa striata, is a small songbird found in Europe and parts of Asia but becoming an increasingly scarce sight in British birding, making watching them nesting a special experience. While Spotted Flycatcher is not a colourful bird it is interesting for its migratory habits and tendency to often nest close to humans.

The Spotted Flycatcher's High-pitched Call - Bird Sounds #shorts
The Spotted Flycatcher's high-pitched call. This charismatic little bird is a late Spring arrival in the UK. If you're lucky enough to encounter them, they'll take little notice of you as they sally out constantly to catch insects mid-flight.
The Spotted Flycatcher is a declining bird in the UK. They are only seen in the UK from May to September and they spend winter in Africa and S Asia.

Why Was Ancient Egypt Crucial for the Roman Empire
#Documentary #Rome #romanempire #history #ancientegypt
Ancient Egypt held immense significance for the Roman Empire due to its strategic, economic, and cultural importance. Firstly, Egypt was the breadbasket of the empire, supplying grains vital to feeding Rome's vast population. The Nile's fertile lands facilitated abundant agricultural production, ensuring stability in food supply. Additionally, Egypt's wealth derived from its production of papyrus, a crucial material for record-keeping and communication in the ancient world. Moreover, Egypt's strategic location provided control over trade routes connecting Africa, Europe, and Asia. Culturally, Egypt was a melting pot, enriching Roman society with its traditions, beliefs, and knowledge. Its conquest solidified Roman power in the Me...

Roman rule in Egypt
Maps of Roman Egypt
Northern Africa under Roman rule
The Roman Empire during the reign of Hadrian (117 – 138). Two legions were deployed in the imperial province of Ægyptus (Egypt) in the year 125.
As a key province, but also the 'crown domain' where the emperors succeeded the divine Pharaohs, Egypt was ruled by a uniquely styled Praefectus augustalis ('Augustal prefect'), instead of the traditional senatorial governor of other Roman provinces. The prefect was a man of equestrian rank and was appointed by the Emperor. The first prefect of Aegyptus, Gaius Cornelius Gallus, brought Upper Egypt under Roman control by force of arms, and established a protectorate over the southern frontier district, which had been abandoned by the later Ptolemies.
The second prefect, Aelius Gallus, made an unsuccessful expedition to conquer Arabia Petraea and even Arabia Felix. The Red Sea coast of Aegyptus was not brought under Roman control until the reign of Claudius. The third prefect, Gaius Petronius, cleared the neglected canals for irrigation, stimulating a revival of agriculture. Petronius even led a campaign into present-day central Sudan against the Kingdom of Kush at Meroe, whose queen Imanarenat had previously attacked Roman Egypt. Failing to acquire permanent gains, in 22 BC he razed the city of Napata to the ground and retreated to the north.
From the reign of Nero onward, Aegyptus enjoyed an era of prosperity which lasted a century. Much trouble was caused by religious conflicts between the Greeks and the Jews, particularly in Alexandria, which after the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 became the world centre of Jewish religion and culture. Under Trajan a Jewish revolt occurred, resulting in the suppression of the Jews of Alexandria and the loss of all their privileges, although they soon returned. Hadrian, who twice visited Aegyptus, founded Antinoöpolis in memory of his drowned lover Antinous. From his reign onward buildings in the Greco-Roman style were erected throughout the country.
Under Antoninus Pius oppressive taxation led to a revolt in 139, of the native Egyptians, which was suppressed only after several years of fighting. This Bucolic War, led by one Isidorus, caused great damage to the economy and marked the beginning of Egypt's economic decline. Avidius Cassius, who led the Roman forces in the war, declared himself emperor in 175, and was acknowledged by the armies of Syria and Aegyptus.
On the approach of Marcus Aurelius, Cassius was deposed and killed and the clemency of the emperor restored peace. A similar revolt broke out in 193, when Pescennius Niger was proclaimed emperor on the death of Pertinax. The Emperor Septimius Severus gave a constitution to Alexandria and the provincial capitals in 202.[clarification needed]
Caracalla (211–217) granted Roman citizenship to all Egyptians, in common with the other provincials, but this was mainly to extort more taxes, which grew increasingly onerous as the needs of the emperors for more revenue grew more desperate.
There was a series of revolts, both military and civilian, through the 3rd century. Under Decius, in 250, the Christians again suffered from persecution, but their religion continued to spread. The prefect of Aegyptus in 260, Mussius Aemilianus, first supported the Macriani, usurpers during the rule of Gallienus, and later, in 261, became a usurper himself, but was defeated by Gallienus.
Zenobia, queen of Palmyra, took the country away from the Romans when she conquered Aegyptus in 269, declaring herself the Queen of Egypt also. This warrior queen claimed that Egypt was an ancestral home of hers through a familial tie to Cleopatra VII. She was well educated and familiar with the culture of Egypt, its religion, and its language. She lost it later when the Roman emperor, Aurelian, severed amicable relations between the two countries and retook Egypt in 274—following an unsuccessful four-month siege of the defenses of Zenobia—and only by waiting until her food supplies became exhausted.
Two generals based in Aegyptus, Probus and Domitius Domitianus, led successful revolts and made themselves emperors. Diocletian captured Alexandria from Domitius in 298 and reorganised the whole province. His edict of 303 against the Christians began a new era of persecution. This was the last serious attempt to stem the steady growth of Christianity in Egypt, however.

THE ANCIENT ROMAN CHALLENGE: Take a shot every time a province produced wine.
Wow, I cannot believe I finally managed to pull this video out, it took me weeks of research to finish it.
There might be some discrepancies about regions/provinces. Why are some listed provinces merged (Gaul, Hispania...) and others are not? Isn't that unfair??
Given the historical situation the borders of the provinces changed over time (look at Diocletian reforms, Balkans suddenly becomes like 30 provinces) I needed to make some cuts (or merges rather) in order to make the video interesting as well as historical. The best solution I came up with are those 18 provinces/regions you see in the vid.
Here you can find the map I used: https://forums.totalwar.com/discussion/68772/rome-ii-campaign-map-drawings-canomer

Its conquest solidified Roman power in the Mediterranean.

Have you ever heard of the Candace (Kandake) Amanirenas? And how she faced the Romans in combat in the southern borders of the Egyptian Roman province first and then further south?
Have you ever heard of the stolen bronze statue of emperor Augustus and of the actual letters exchanged between the emperor and the queen?
If not, then this is going to be a great tale for you. Get ready to deep dive.
The Kingdom of Kush was an ancient African civilization located in what is now Sudan and southern Egypt. Here's a brief overview:
The Kingdom of Kush existed from around 2700 BCE to 350 CE.
It was centered in the Nile Valley, primarily in Nubia (modern-day northern Sudan and southern Egypt).
The kingdom had two main capital cities over its history:
Kerma (2700-1550 BCE)
Napata (1000-590 BCE)
Meroe (590 BCE-350 CE)
Relationship with Egypt: Kush had a complex relationship with Ancient Egypt, including periods of Egyptian domination, Kushite rule over Egypt (25th Dynasty), and cultural exchange.
Kushite culture was influenced by Egyptian civilization but maintained its own distinct identity, including unique artwork, architecture, and religious practices.
Kush was known for its gold mines and iron production. It also engaged in trade with Egypt, the Mediterranean world, and other parts of Africa.
The Kushites built their own pyramids, which were steeper and smaller than Egyptian pyramids. There are more pyramids in Sudan than in Egypt.
The kingdom declined in the 4th century CE, possibly due to overuse of natural resources, climate change, and pressure from neighboring kingdoms.
Amanirenas was a notable kandake (queen or queen mother) of the Kingdom of Kush who ruled in the 1st century BCE. Here's what we know about her:
Title: "Kandake" was the Meroitic term for queen or queen mother, similar to "Candace" in Greek sources. It was a title of great importance in Kushite society.
Amanirenas ruled from approximately 40-10 BCE, during a time when Kush was in conflict with the Roman Empire.
Her reign coincided with the Roman conquest of Egypt under Augustus Caesar, which brought Roman power to the borders of Kush.
Roman-Kushite War: Amanirenas is best known for leading Kushite resistance against Roman expansion into Nubia. This conflict, sometimes called the Meroitic War, lasted from about 27-22 BC .
She personally led Kushite armies against the Romans, demonstrating the significant military and political roles women could hold in Kushite society.
Amanirenas initially had success against the Romans, capturing the cities of Syene, Elephantine, and Philae in southern Egypt.
Roman counterattack: The Romans eventually pushed back, invading Kushite territory and sacking the city of Napata.
Despite setbacks, Amanirenas successfully negotiated a favorable peace treaty with Augustus. This treaty established a buffer zone between Roman Egypt and Kush and exempted Kush from paying tribute to Rome.
The Roman province of Egypt was established after the conquest of Ptolemaic Egypt by Octavian (later Augustus) in 30 BCE. Here's an overview of this important Roman province:
Egypt became a Roman province in 30 BCE following the defeat of Mark Antony and Cleopatra VII at the Battle of Actium and the subsequent conquest of Alexandria.
Egypt was unique among Roman provinces. It was considered the personal property of the emperor, governed by a prefect of equestrian rank appointed directly by the emperor, rather than a senatorial governor.
Alexandria remained the capital and largest city of Roman Egypt.
The province retained much of its existing bureaucratic structure from the Ptolemaic period, with a mix of Roman and Egyptian officials.
A relatively small Roman force (about 3 legions) was stationed in Egypt, primarily to maintain internal order and defend against external threats.
Roman Egypt had a complex social hierarchy, with Romans at the top, followed by Greeks, and then native Egyptians.
Egypt remained a Roman province until the Arab conquest in 641 CE, though it came under Eastern Roman (Byzantine) control after the division of the empire in 395 CE.
Scientific and intellectual center: Alexandria continued to be a major center of learning, with its famous library and museum attracting scholars from across the Mediterranean world.

Fans of history, welcome back! Today, we set out on a fascinating tour of the vast and varied Roman provinces, taking us from the hazy coasts of Britain to the warm continent of Africa. Join me as we explore the geographical wonders, cultural kaleidoscopes, and distinctive political structures that made up the powerful Roman Empire. Let's start now!
Let's first comprehend the significance of Roman provinces and how they came to be, before we get into detail about particular provinces. When the Roman Republic became an Empire, it was necessary to find a more effective means to manage and keep order over its enormous lands. Consequently, the idea of provinces developed. These areas were important for preserving control and gathering resources for the empire, and they were governed by governors that Rome selected.
Conquering the Northern Frontier with Britannia
Britannia, the Roman Empire's most northern province, serves as the starting point of our expedition. Britannia was a severe obstacle to Roman conquest due to its foggy vistas and rough beauty. The Celtic tribes first resisted the Romans tenaciously, but they eventually succeeded in establishing their dominance, leaving a rich cultural heritage in their wake.
Roman conquest was extremely difficult in this area of foggy coastlines and untamed terrain, but it also had immense appeal and potential. Let's investigate the intriguing tale of the Roman conquest and shaping of Britannia.
The topographical variety of Britannia was impressive, ranging from undulating hills and lush woods to expansive coasts. Celtic tribes like the Iceni and Brigantes, who zealously defend their territories and way of life, initially met the Romans with ferocious hostility. But finally, the Roman military apparatus under the command of generals like Julius Caesar and then Emperor Claudius, cemented their dominance.
Britannia saw considerable modifications as a result of Roman occupation. To ease military movements and trade, the Romans built a vast network of roads, including the well-known Fosse Way and Watling Street. To keep control of and defend the frontier, massive structures like Hadrian's Wall in the north and the Antonine Wall further south were built.
Under Roman authority, the province saw economic prosperity, with lively cities like Londinium (modern-day London) rising as thriving trading hubs. Modern agricultural methods were established by the Romans, which enhanced production and sparked the expansion of a robust agricultural industry. The development of mines produced precious materials including lead, tin, and iron.
Britannia's culture was a complex fusion of Roman, Celtic, and indigenous customs. Roman architecture, language, and customs were introduced to the area, leaving a permanent mark. Temples, theatres, and bathhouses, among other magnificent buildings, dot the landscape, displaying the splendour of Roman civilisation.
