The journal covers astronomy, astrophysics, cosmology, planetary science, solar-terrestrial physics, global and regional geophysics, and the history of these subjects. It also publishes thematic articles regarding interdisciplinary research, science policy, news, opinions, correspondence, and book and software reviews. Royal Astronomical Society communications about events and people and obituaries are also within this journal's purview.
Furthermore, in keeping with the tradition of the Quarterly Journal of the Royal Astronomical Society, it publishes discussions of fundamental science and scientific debates. The journal also functions as a channel of communication between the membership, the Council, and the Society's Officers.
Some research studies may refer to this gene variation as a C/T SNP, while others refer to it as a G/A polymorphism in the promoter region, thus writing it as, e.g., −1438 G/A or 1438G>A.
As of 2008, meta-analysis of research studies indicates that people with the A-allele may have slightly elevated risk of schizophrenia.
Remix: Making Art and Commerce Thrive in the Hybrid Economy is Lawrence Lessig's fifth book. It is available as a free download under a Creative Commons license. It details a hypothesis about the societal effect of the Internet, and how this will affect production and consumption of popular culture.
Summary
In RemixLawrence Lessig, a Harvard law professor and a respected voice in what he deems the "copyright wars", describes the disjuncture between the availability and relative simplicity of remix technologies and copyright law. Lessig insists that copyright law as it stands now is antiquated for digital media since every "time you use a creative work in a digital context, the technology is making a copy" (98). Thus, amateur use and appropriation of digital technology is under unprecedented control that previously extended only to professional use.
Lessig insists that knowledge and manipulation of multi-media technologies is the current generation's form of "literacy"- what reading and writing was to the previous. It is the vernacular of today. The children growing up in a world where these technologies permeate their daily life are unable to comprehend why "remixing" is illegal. Lessig insists that amateur appropriation in the digital age cannot be stopped but only 'criminalized'. Thus most corrosive outcome of this tension is that generations of children are growing up doing what they know is "illegal" and that notion has societal implications that extend far beyond copyright wars. The book is now available as a free download under one of the Creative Commons' licenses.
The Jīva or Atman (/ˈɑːtmən/; Sanskrit:आत्मन्) is a philosophical term used within Jainism to identify the soul. It is one's true self (hence generally translated into English as 'Self') beyond identification with the phenomenal reality of worldly existence. As per the Jain cosmology, jīva or soul is also the principle of sentience and is one of the tattvas or one of the fundamental substances forming part of the universe. According to The Theosophist, "some religionists hold that Atman (Spirit) and Paramatman (God) are one, while others assert that they are distinct ; but a Jain will say that Atman and Paramatman are one as well as distinct." In Jainism, spiritual disciplines, such as abstinence, aid in freeing the jīva "from the body by diminishing and finally extinguishing the functions of the body."
Jain philosophy is essentially dualistic. It differentiates two substances, the self and the non-self.
Real Self
According to the Jain text, Samayasāra (The Nature of the Self):-
On the Soul (GreekΠερὶ Ψυχῆς, Perì Psūchês; LatinDe Anima) is a major treatise by Aristotle on the nature of living things. His discussion centres on the kinds of souls possessed by different kinds of living things, distinguished by their different operations. Thus plants have the capacity for nourishment and reproduction, the minimum that must be possessed by any kind of living organism. Lower animals have, in addition, the powers of sense-perception and self-motion (action). Humans have all these as well as intellect.
Aristotle holds that the soul (psyche, ψυχή) is the form, or essence of any living thing; that it is not a distinct substance from the body that it is in. That it is the possession of soul (of a specific kind) that makes an organism an organism at all, and thus that the notion of a body without a soul, or of a soul in the wrong kind of body, is simply unintelligible. (He argues that some parts of the soul—the intellect—can exist without the body, but most cannot.) It is difficult to reconcile these points with the popular picture of a soul as a sort of spiritual substance "inhabiting" a body. Some commentators have suggested that Aristotle's term soul is better translated as lifeforce.

Single-nucleotide polymorphism
A Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP, pronounced snip; plural snips) is a DNA sequence variation occurring commonly within a population (e.g. 1%) in which a Single Nucleotide — A, T, C or G — in the genome (or other shared sequence) differs between members of a biological species or paired chromosomes. For example, two sequenced DNA fragments from different individuals, AAGCCTA to AAGCTTA, contain a difference in a single nucleotide. In this case we say that there are two alleles. Almost all common SNPs have only two alleles. The genomic distribution of SNPs is not homogenous; SNPs occur in non-coding regions more frequently than in coding regions or, in general, where natural selection is acting and fixating the allele of the SNP that constitutes the most favorable genetic adaptation. The study of SNPs is also important in crop and livestock breeding program. SNPs do not usually function individually, rather, they work in coordination with other SNPs to manifest a diseased condition.
enetic Marker Type # 2.
Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP):
Restriction fragment length polymorphism, commonly pronounced “rif-lip”, special types of SNPs, are gene markers which result in a restriction site being changed. When digested with a restriction endonuclease the loss of the site is revealed because two fragments remain joined together.
Genetic Marker Type # 3.
Amplified Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (AFLP):
Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism is a PCR-based tool used in genetics research, DNA fingerprinting, and in the practice of genetic engineering. AFLP- PCR is a highly sensitive method for detecting polymorphisms in DNA. The technique was originally described by Vos and Zadeebeau in 1993.
Genetic Marker Type # 4.
Random Amplification of Polymorphic DNA (RAPD):
The RAPD, pronounced “rapid”, utilizes short synthetic oligonucleotides of random sequences as primers to amplify Nano gram amounts of total genomic DNA under low annealing temperatures by PCR. Amplification products are generally separated on agarose gels and stained with ethidium bromide.
Simple Sequence Repeats (SSR): Microsatellites:
