The Gong Show (1978) NBC Burbank - RARE SOUNDCHECK with Milton Delugg and the Band With A Thug
When Chuck Barris' "The Gong Show" had its network daytime run, the show was taped at NBC Burbank - and here is a copy of a VTR air copy with the first 2 minutes featuring the band warming up on-stage in this episode while Chuck can be heard muttering about not "caring about that stuff". Hear the trumpeter (I'll assume it was Bob Findley) warming up to "The Peanut Vendor" with the rhythm section playing a few bars together of a song I can't think of (let me know, folks) at the moment.
That's Milt Delugg whining about "That's why we lost Miami". You'll hear him in the first act shouting "Go get 'em, Arthur!".

Course Hero Literature Instructor Russell Jaffe provides an in-depth analysis of the plot, characters, symbols, and themes of Washington Irving's short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
Download the free study guide and infographic for The Legend of Sleepy Hollow here: https://www.coursehero.com/lit/The-Legend-of-Sleepy-Hollow/infographic/
Narrated by Diedrich Knickerbocker, a fictional historian, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is set in the dreamy Hudson River Valley in the 1790s. The area is supposedly haunted by a ghostly Headless Horseman killed in the American Revolution.
Weaving social commentary with creepy mythology, Irving creates an evocative portrait of 19th-century New England. His scathing portrayal of the foolish schoolmaster Ichabod Crane and his place in local society is set against a grim local legend about the ghost of a headless horseman.
Crane, who is obsessed with gossip and ghost stories, is ultimately pursued by the hostile spirit following a humiliating episode at a party.
Terrifying and silly in equal measure, the story illuminates both the unique superstitions and the social foibles of early bourgeois America. Washington Irving proves unequivocally that comedy and suspense aren't mutually exclusive qualities in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
American writer Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow was first published in 1819-20. The “first American man of letters,” Irving established credibility for American literature when his stories received praise abroad as well as at home—especially The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. In the tale, Irving combines comedy and horror to gently mock modern American values while examining the act of storytelling.
The short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow contains many important themes, including nature’s bounty. The lush countryside and rich farmlands are idealized. Another theme is the supernatural, as ghosts and witches are all prominent in the tales told by the people of Sleepy Hollow. The narrative also explores the unreliability of stories, as the original storyteller disbelieves half of the Headless Horseman story. Symbols include music and books.

CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Baltus (Michael Gambon) tells the tale of how the Hessian Horseman (Christopher Walken) was killed with his own sword.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Washington Irving's tale of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman gets a few new twists in a screen adaptation directed by Tim Burton. In this version, Ichabod (Johnny Depp) is a New York City detective whose unorthodox techniques and penchant for gadgets make him unpopular with is colleagues. He is sent to the remote town of Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of bizarre murders, in which a number of people have been found dead in the woods, with their heads cut off. Local legend has it that a Hessian ghost rides through the woods on horseback, lopping off the heads of the unsuspecting and unbelieving. Ichabod refuses to believe in this legend, convinced that there must be a logical explanation for the murders. In time, Ichabod becomes smitten with a local lass, Katrina Van Tassel (Christina Ricci), who is the sweetheart of the burly Brom Bones (Casper Van Dien), and he becomes determined to capture the murderer to prove his bravery and win her heart. Christopher Walken, Jeffrey Jones, and Christopher Lee highlight the supporting cast; Lee's appearance is particularly apt, since Burton has cited the Hammer films of the 1960s as a major influence in making this film. Andrew Kevin Walker and Tom Stoppard contributed to the screenplay.

This is a quick book summary of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving. This channel discusses and reviews books, novels, and short stories through drawing...poorly.
Transcript: This is a story about a man named Ichabod Crane, a smart and friendly teacher who moves to Tarry Town, a country town near the haunted valley of Sleepy Hollow. Ichabod opens a schoolhouse for the local children, who love and adore him, and he also teaches singing to some pupils.
As he begins to get to know the townspeople, Ichabod meets Katrina Van Tassel, a beautiful girl who is the daughter of a rich farmer. Ichabod wants to win her heart and so he hopes to get to know her better as her singing teacher. However, another man named Brom Van Brunt also pursues her and becomes Ichabod’s rival.
As his rival continues to persecute him, Ichabod sticks to his plan of slowly trying to win Katrina’s heart. And when Ichabod is invited to a party at Katrina’s house, he dresses up and tries to make the most of the opportunity by being social and impressing Katrina with his dancing. The townspeople close the night by sharing scary stories, including the story of the Headless Horseman, the legendary spectre with a pumpkin head that haunts Sleepy Hollow and Tarry Town.
Feeling good about himself, Ichabod leaves the party on horseback and heads home. As he nears a bridge, he sees a dark figure. He tries to talk to the mysterious figure, but it says nothing. Then, scared and panicking, Ichabod steers his horse to gallop faster and faster. However, the figure chases him and then Ichabod realizes that the figure is the Headless Horseman. The Horseman chases him and just as Ichabod thinks he escaped, the Horseman throws his pumpkin head at Ichabod and it attaches itself to his head.
In the end, the townspeople are left wondering what happened to Ichabod and his story is added to the lore of Sleepy Hollow.

Heather Ordover narrates legendary American author Washington Irving's enduring classic, "Sleepy Hollow," originally published in 1820 in Irving's collection, The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent. The tale, among the earliest examples of American fiction with enduring popularity, is set in 1790 in the countryside around the Dutch settlement of Tarry Town (historical Tarrytown, New York), in a secluded glen called Sleepy Hollow. Sleepy Hollow is renowned for its ghosts and the haunting atmosphere that pervades the imaginations of its inhabitants and visitors. The most infamous spectre in the Hollow is the Headless Horseman, said to be the ghost of a Hessian trooper who had his head shot off by a stray cannonball during "some nameless battle" of the
American Revolutionary War, and who "rides forth to the scene of battle in nightly quest of his head."
