Leskovac (Serbian Cyrillic: Лесковац, pronounced[lě̞skɔ̝v̞at͡s]) is a city in southern Serbia. It is the administrative center of the Jablanica District of Serbia. According to the 2011 census, the city has 60,288 inhabitants, while the Municipality has 144,206.
History
Traces of life of the Brnjica culture (8th century BC) is seen at the Hisar Hill (Hisar Leskovac) that was protected by a deep moat with a palisade on its inner side, a fortification similar to that of another fortification on the Gradac site in Lanište in the Velika Morava basin.
A later Iron Age settlement existed at Hisar dating from the 6th century BC until the 4th century BC. Besides Greek fibula and pottery, Triballi (Thracian) tombs have been excavated in 2005.
Archeological findings from the multi-layer sites indicate that the Scordisci and Triballi inhabited the Leskovac valley before the Roman conquest in the 1st century BC. Famous cultural-historic monuments in this area are: the Romannecropolis in Mala Kopasnica originating from 2nd century AD, the Eastern Roman town of Justiniana Prima built in 535 AD. Slavs settled the region in the 6th century, and the town was known as Dubočica.
Leskovac Airport (Serbian:Аеродром Лесковац / Aerodrom Leskovac) (IATA: LES,ICAO: LYLE), also known as Mira Airport (Serbian:Аеродром Мира / Aerodrom Mira) is an airport in Serbia, located in the vicinity of the city of Leskovac (2.5 kmnorth of the centre, near the road 158 that connects Leskovac–Niš). The airport is mainly used for pilot training and sportparachutingjumping.
Leskovac Airport is airport which is primarily used for sport, tourist and agronomic purposes although there are plans to expand the airport in the small cargo airport, and then the small airport passenger characters. At the airport there is an air-taxi service, which aims to carry passengers to any destination in any country and Europe.

Exploring Leskovac | The Best Of Southern Serbia 🇷🇸
Our first impressions of beautiful Serbia were here in the far southeast in a small city called Leskovac. Famous for its legendary BBQ food (which is unbelievably good btw) the city has a lot more to offer than just food, we stayed for over a week and just enjoyed the slow paced local life, hit the markets and pretty much just relaxed.
Leskovac definitely warrants more than just a day visit for sure. So far we bloody love Serbia and the amazing friendly people we have met.
