The Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario (French:Parti progressiste-conservateur de l'Ontario), often shortened to Ontario PC Party or PC, is a right-of-centre political party in Ontario, Canada. It governed the province for 80 of the 148 years since Confederation, including an uninterrupted run from 1943 to 1985. It is the Official Opposition in the current Legislative Assembly of Ontario.
History
Origins
The first Conservative Party in Upper Canada was made up of United Empire Loyalists and supporters of the wealthy Family Compact that ruled the colony. Once responsible government was granted in response to the 1837 Rebellions, the Tories emerged as moderate reformers who opposed the radical policies of the Reformers and then the Clear Grits.
A landslide victory is an electoral victory in a political system, when one candidate or party receives an overwhelming majority of the votes or seats in the elected body, thus all but utterly eliminating the opponents. The winning party has reached more voters than usual, and a landslide victory is often seen in hindsight as a turning point in people's views on political matters, as for instance when Tony Blair won a landslide election in 1997 in the U.K. In Denmark, the general election in 1973 was dubbed the landslide election (Danish: Jordskredsvalget) because several new parties enjoyed considerable popularity while the older parties suffered severe losses.
Part of the reason for a landslide victory is sometimes a bandwagon effect, as a significant number of people may decide to vote for the party which is in the lead in the pre-election opinion polls, regardless of its politics.
The term is borrowed from geology, where a landslide takes almost everything with it on its way.
This is a list of past and present Senators of Canada representing the province of Ontario. Ontario has had an allocation of 24 senators since the time of Confederation. The province is also one of four regional Senate divisions under Section 26 of the Constitution Act that allows for the expansion of the Senate by one or two senators per region.

Ontario (Human Rights Commission) v Etobicoke (Borough of)
Ontario (Human Rights Commission) v Etobicoke (Borough of), [1982] 1 S.C.R. 202 is a leading Supreme Court of Canada decision on age discrimination. Several firemen challenged a mandatory retirement policy under the Ontario Human Rights Code. The Court found that the employer did not sufficiently justify the policy as a bona fide occupational requirement.
Background
Harold Hall and Vincent Gray were firemen in the borough of Etobicoke, Ontario. As part of the collective agreement between the borough and the union, all firefighters were required to retire at the age of 60. When Hall and Grey were forced to retire they brought a complaint for age discrimination under section 4(1) of the Ontario Human Rights Code which prohibited discrimination in recruitment or dismissal based on age among other grounds.
The respondents defended their actions by arguing that the rule was a bona fide occupational requirement (BFOR). Namely, that the rule was required to maintain an acceptable standard for firefighting.
Decision Ontario: 55% of voters want different party leaders as Conservatives pull ahead, poll finds
Fifty-five per cent of Ontario voters would prefer a different set of party leaders, according to a new poll conducted by Ipsos.
The survey, conducted exclusively for Global News, also suggests that Progressive Conservatives have “pulled away” from the rest of the pack as the election gets underway.
If held tomorrow, the poll finds that the Progressive Conservative (PC) Party under Doug Ford would garner 38 per cent of the decided popular vote. Marianne Dimain explains the results.

Ontario election 2022: Doug Ford's Progressive Conservatives win another majority government | FULL
The Ontario Progressive Conservatives have won a second consecutive majority government, with the party leading or elected in 83 ridings as of late Thursday.
“Tonight’s victory, it isn’t about me, it isn’t about the party. This victory belongs to every worker who knows they deserve better. It belongs to every family who knows that they can dream bigger. But most of all, this victory belongs to each and every one of you,” Premier Doug Ford said as he took the stage.
The NDPs are projected to form the official opposition once again as they are expected to win the second-most number of seats, but it wasn’t enough for party leader Andrea Horwath who announced she would be stepping down as leader after failing to form government in her fourth election cycle heading the party.

From fall to serious signs of winter in no time. In Bracebridge, Ont., about 24 inches of snow fell in just a day and a half according to the town’s mayor.
North of Toronto, the snow was so intense provincial police shut down Hwy 11 between Washago and Bracebridge.
The highway closure left big rigs parked waiting indefinitely while other drivers were forced to turn around and back in the other direction.

It was another poor showing for the Liberals as party leader Steven Del Duca failed to win in the riding of Vaughan-Woodbridge, also announcing his resignation as party leader.
At least 63 seats are required to form a majority government. In the 2018 election, the PCs won 76 ridings.

Two candidates from the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party spoke at an election roundtable event on May 17, hosted by the Jewish Federation of Ottawa in partnership with CIJA. All local candidates were invited to attend.
Both candidates, incumbent Jeremy Roberts for Ottawa West-Nepean and Scott Healey for Ottawa Centre, spoke in detail about experiences within the Ottawa Jewish community, including such agencies as the Bess and Moe Greenberg Family Hillel Lodge and Tamir.
While Doug Ford's popularity has skyrocketed over the past eight months during the COVID-19 pandemic, some conservatives are less than pleased. They fear he's moved too far to the middle and abandoned true conservative principles. Has Ford turned his back on his previous, disruptive populist instincts in favour of a more moderate, pragmatic progressive conservatism?
Doug Ford was named the new leader of Ontario’s Progressive Conservatives after a delay that lasted more than seven hours as party officials reviewed the results of the vote.
A pattern of Progressive Conservative no-shows at local provincial election debates. Cynthia Mulligan unearths a high-level PC strategy. Opponents are calling it anti-democratic, or is it smart political strategy?

Lyrics
Hold all in your holdall,
bring your foal.
Cold shawl, near swallow
skin and soul.
All preying on your old scrawl
of your front crawl, on your bone.
Oh, painted on your own wall
in an oval, ring your goal.
All your love overgrown,
all your body undersold,
all above, all your waiting coming home.
Hollow all your arrows,
all aglow.
Follow, you’re Apollo,
us below,
all praying in your
shallows, I’ll hallow,
overflow,
oh, scaling all your shadows
to your marrow,
to atone.
