Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev was a Russian composer, pianist and conductor who mastered numerous musical genres and is regarded as one of the major composers of the 20th century. Prokofiev was born in Sontsovka (now Krasne in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine), an isolated rural estate in Yekaterinoslav Governorate, Russian Empire. He displayed precocious musical abilities by age five. His first piano composition to be written down (by his mother), an 'Indian Gallop', was in the Lydian mode (a major scale with a raised 4th scale degree) as the young Prokofiev felt 'reluctance to tackle the black notes'. By seven he had also learned to play chess. Much like music, chess would remain a passion, and he became acquainted with world chess champions ...

Prokofiev Biography - Music | History
Prokofiev was born in 1891 in Sontsovka a remote rural estate in the Bakhmutsky Uyezd of the Yekaterinoslav Governorate of the Russian Empire. His father, Sergei Alexeyevich Prokofiev, was an agronomist. Prokofiev's mother, Maria (née Zhitkova), came from a family of former serfs who had been owned by the Sheremetev family, under whose patronage serf-children were taught theatre and arts from an early age.
She was described by Reinhold Glière, Prokofiev's first composition teacher, as "a tall woman with beautiful, clever eyes … who knew how to create an atmosphere of warmth and simplicity about her."
After their wedding in the summer of 1877, the Prokofievs moved to a small estate in the Smolensk governorate. Eventually, Sergei Alexeyevich found employment as a soil engineer, employed ...

Battle of Marinka (2015), a battle between Donetsk People's Republic and Ukrainian forces during the war in Donbas.
Battle of Marinka (2022–2023), a battle fought between Russian and DPR forces against Ukrainian ones during the 2022 Russian special military operation of Ukraine.
Marinka or Maryinka (Ukrainian: Ма́р'їнка, pronounced [ˈmɑrjinkɐ]; Russian: Марьинка) is a city located in Pokrovsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast (province), Ukraine. Population: 9,089 (2022 est.); 10,722 (2001). The city is on the frontline of the 2022 Russo-Ukrainian War and has suffered great damage as of 15.1.2023, with nearly every building of the main area bombed to the ground.
Early history
Sometime after the 1775 liquidation of Zaporizhian Sich, lands of Kalmius Palatine were initially passed to the Greek re-settlers. However, according to the general plan of the Aleksandrovsk county of the 1830s, the area of Maryinka and surrounding villages was not colonized. After the final demarcation of the government land, in the 1840s, on territory not colonized by Greeks, former Ukrainian Cossacks and state peasants (see state serf) from various counties of Poltava Governorate and Kharkov Governorate (Little Russia) moved there. After the partition of Poland, at the end of 18th century here were also exiled Polish people from the Kiev and Podolia governorates who also were under a special supervision by the local administration.[5] Unlike the state peasants who used a community land, the exiled Poles were considered as landowners ("odnodvortsy").
By 1859 there were 1,318 people. As a state village, Marinka belonged to the fourth stan of Aleksandrovsk county, Yekaterinoslav Governorate. The village administration consisted of a village senior (head of village), a tax collector, a secretary, and a supervisor.
The city was under German occupation between 1941 and 1943. Having been locked up in the police station, the Jews of the city (and the surrounding villages) were killed in a mass execution by an Einsatzgruppen. The site of the massacre is located in a pit near the cemetery.

A graduate of the Academy of Art in Berlin (1924), from 1925 he worked in Paris where he immediately attracted the attention of French critics. From the Neue Sachlichkeit style of his Berlin period he changed to postimpressionism. Besides numerous French, Italian, Dutch, and (later) Ukrainian landscapes, he also painted flowers, still life, nudes, and portraits (of Oleksander Dovzhenko and Volodymyr Vynnychenko, as well as portraits commissioned by the Soviet government of the French writers Henri Barbusse, Romen Rolland, and Victor Margueritte and the painter Paul Signac). At the beginning of the 1930s, Hlushchenko belonged to the Association of Independent Ukrainian Artists and helped organize its large exhibition of Ukrainian, French, and Italian paintings at the National Museum in Lviv. In 1936 he moved to the USSR, but was allowed to live in Ukraine only after the war when his works began to reflect official approved socialist realism. In the 1960s, having come into close contact with new artistic trends on his trips abroad, he revitalized his paintings with expressive colors, and assumed a leading position among Ukrainian colorists. Hlushchenko's work was exhibited in Berlin (1924), Paris (five exhibits 1925--34), Milan (1927), Budapest (1930, 1932), Stockholm (1931), Rome (1933), Lviv (1934, 1935), Moscow (1943, 1959), Belgrade (1966, 1968), London (1966), Toronto (1967--9), and Kiev (over 10 exhibits).
From 1943 until his death in 1977-m (October 31) M. Glushchenko lived in Ukraine, in Kiev, while he traveled Europe and Soviet republics.
Only in 1990 it became known that the famous painter was a Soviet scout who for six months before the legendary Richard Sorge (Zorge) handed to the country's thorough materials about Nazi Germany's attack the USSR.

Eventually, Sergei Alexeyevich found employment as a soil engineer, employed by one of his former fellow-students, Dmitri Sontsov, to whose estate in the Ukrainian steppes the Prokofievs moved.
By the time of Prokofiev's birth, Maria—having previously lost two daughters—had devoted her life to music; during her son's early childhood, she spent two months a year in Moscow or St Petersburg taking piano lessons.
Sergei Prokofiev was inspired by hearing his mother practising the piano in the evenings, mostly works by Chopin and Beethoven, and wrote his first piano composition at the age of five, an "Indian Gallop", which was written down by his mother: it was in the F Lydian mode (a major scale with a raised 4th scale degree), as the young Prokofiev felt "reluctance to tackle the black notes". By seven, he had also learned to play chess.
Chess remained a passion of his, and he became acquainted with world chess champions José Raúl Capablanca, whom he beat in a simultaneous exhibition match in 1914, and Mikhail Botvinnik, with whom he played several matches in the 1930s. At age nine, he was composing his first opera, The Giant, as well as an overture and various other pieces.
In 1902, Prokofiev's mother met Sergei Taneyev, director of the Moscow Conservatory, who initially suggested that Prokofiev should start lessons in piano and composition with Alexander Goldenweiser.
Unable to arrange that, Taneyev instead arranged for composer and pianist Reinhold Glière to spend the summer of 1902 in Sontsovka teaching Prokofiev. The first series of lessons culminated, at the 11-year-old Prokofiev's insistence, with the budding composer making his first attempt to write a symphony.
The following summer, Glière revisited Sontsovka to give further tuition. When, decades later, Prokofiev wrote about his lessons with Glière, he gave due credit to his teacher's sympathetic method but complained that Glière had introduced him to "square" phrase structure and conventional modulations, which he subsequently had to unlearn.
Nonetheless, equipped with the necessary theoretical tools, Prokofiev started experimenting with dissonant harmonies and unusual time signatures in a series of short piano pieces he called "ditties" (after the so-called "song form", more accurately ternary form, on which they were based), laying the basis for his own musical style.
In 1914, Prokofiev finished his career at the Conservatory by entering the 'battle of the pianos', a competition open to the five best piano students for which the prize was a Schroeder grand piano; Prokofiev won by performing his own Piano Concerto No. 1.
In the summer of that year, Prokofiev composed his first symphony, the Classical. The name was Prokofiev's own; the music is in a style that, according to Prokofiev, Joseph Haydn would have used if he were alive at the time. The music is more or less Classical in style but incorporates more modern musical elements (see Neoclassicism).
Prokofiev died at the age of 61 on 5 March 1953, the same day as Joseph Stalin. He had lived near Red Square, and for three days the throngs gathered to mourn Stalin, making it impossible to hold Prokofiev's funeral service at the headquarters of the Soviet Composers' Union.
Because the hearse was not allowed near Prokofiev's house, his coffin had to be moved by hand through back streets in the opposite direction of the masses of people going to visit Stalin's body.
The leading Soviet musical periodical reported Prokofiev's death as a brief item on page 116. (The first 115 pages were devoted to the death of Stalin.) Prokofiev's death is usually attributed to cerebral hemorrhage. He had been chronically ill for the prior eight years.

Four-stroke internal combustion engines frequently employ a mechanical governor system to control engine speed and maintain a constant RPM (revolutions per minute) under a variety of load circumstances. To maintain smooth operation and avoid overspeeding or underspeeding, the governor system helps regulate the fuel flow to the engine.
A four-stroke engine's mechanical governor system is described in the following manner:
The mechanical governor system consists of the following essential components:
Flyweights, a control lever, and the governor shaft are all part of the governor assembly.
The throttle regulates how much gasoline and air are injected into the engine.
Control Springs: The governor system requires a certain amount of tension from these springs in order to function properly.
The governor assembly is joined to the throttle mechanism by linkages.
Sensing Engine Speed: The governor system keeps track of the engine speed. This is accomplished either by a governor gear installed on the flywheel or by a magnetic pickup that measures the engine's rotational speed. The governor assembly is connected to the governor gear, also known as the magnetic pickup. Two flyweights are a part of the governor assembly and are fastened to the governor shaft. The flyweights are subjected to an increase in centrifugal force as engine speed rises. The governor shaft is rotated by this force, which also causes the flyweights to travel outward.
Control Lever and Linkages: A control lever that is attached to the throttle mechanism is connected to the governor shaft. The control lever is engaged when the flyweights shift outward as a result of increasing engine speed, and it changes the throttle position appropriately. The control lever limits the throttle if the engine speed is too high, decreasing the fuel supply to the engine. The control lever closes the throttle to decrease the fuel flow when the engine speed rises.
The governor system works on the basis of a feedback mechanism. The engine speed is impacted as the throttle position is changed by the control lever. The governor gear or magnetic pickup detects a change in engine speed, and the flyweights adjust to maintain the correct RPM.
The governor mechanism also makes adjustments for changes in load. The governor system detects the decrease in engine speed when the engine sees an increase in load, such as when more devices are connected or the workload increases. In response, it opens the throttle to give the engine more fuel, making up for the extra load and keeping the appropriate RPM.
Overall, a four-stroke engine's mechanical governor system is crucial for controlling engine speed and guaranteeing reliability. The governor system keeps the RPM steady so that the engine can run smoothly and efficiently under a variety of load conditions by monitoring engine speed, spotting variations, and regulating the throttle position.
I hope you gain something from this.
Many thanks indeed
