A string orchestra is an orchestra consisting solely of a string section. The instruments of such an orchestra are most often the following: the violin, which is divided into first and second violin players, the viola, the cello, and the double bass. String orchestras can be of chamber orchestra size ranging from between 12 (4.3.2.2.1 = 12) and 21 musicians (6.5.4.4.2 = 21) sometimes performing without a conductor, or consist of the entire string section of a large symphony orchestra which could have 60 musicians (16.14.12.10.8 = 60; Gurre-Lieder calls for 84: 20.20.16.16.12).
A twentieth-century development has been the reappearance of the concerto grosso pitting of soloists against the full ensemble. During the past eras of pop music, it also employed up to 65-piece string orchestras (Two Tribes).
101 Strings Orchestra was a brand for a highly successful easy listeningsymphonic music organization, with a discography exceeding a hundred albums and a creative lifetime of roughly thirty years beginning in 1957. 101 Strings had a trademark sound, focusing on melody with a laid-back ambiance, most often featuring strings. Their LPs were individualized by the slogan "The Sound of Magnificence", a puffy cloud logo and sepia-toned photo of the orchestra. The 101 Strings orchestra included 124 string instruments, and was conducted by Wilhelm Stephan. The orchestra's famous official photograph was taken in the MusikhalleHamburg.
History
Miller and rock and roll
Record label mogul David L. Miller (born on 4 July 1925, son of Albert L. Miller and Olive-Jane (Bardsley) Miller in Philadelphia, died 24 May 1985 in London) came to prominence by releasing the first Bill Haley & His Comets’ records in 1952–1953 on his own Essex label (followed by Trans-World, then Somerset Records). In this capacity, Miller played a role in the creation of rock and roll.
Budding composer Tendou Kawahara flees to Mongolia after being belittled by renowned composer Gen Mikami. In Mongolia, Tendou meets Kanon, a Japanese girl who has a talent for playing the violin. After her mother's untimely death, Kanon moves to Japan with Tendou in search of her father. Tendou attempts to bring out Kanon's talent without success. Soon after, Kanon's mother's sister gives Kanon 3 pictures of her possible father. One of them dies of a heart attack soon after, another is homosexual and a third, Kent Gregory, lives in the United States and has been gravely ill for a long time.
Ultimately, Kanon goes to the United States, only to find Kent on his deathbed. Following his funeral, she returns to Japan. There an unusual twist is discovered; none of the three people Kanon sought is her father. However, Gen Mikami decides he wants Kanon as one of his musicians. After losing in a challenge to Mikami, Tendou enrolls Kanon in a music school where Mikami is the manager. There, Kanon falls in love with Mikami, only to learn that he is her father.
The Kanonanime, which encompasses two television series produced by different studios and an original video animation (OVA), is based on the visual novelKanon by the Japanese visual novel brand Key. The story follows the main character Yuichi Aizawa, who has returned to the town where seven years ago he would spend his school vacations. As he used to do back then, he is living with his aunt Akiko Minase and his cousin Nayuki, but has forgotten many of the details regarding his previous visits. Over the course of the series Yuichi slowly regains these memories as he meets new friends and is reacquainted with others from his past.
Thirteen episodes were produced for the first Kanon anime series by Toei Animation and directed by Takamichi Itō. The episodes were broadcast between January and March 2002, and were later released to Region 2DVD between April and October 2002 by Frontier Works. Spanning seven volumes, each volume contained two episodes except the first which had one. The series was re-released as a seven-disc DVD box set in December 2004 by Frontier Works in limited and regular editions in Japan. In March 2003, an OVA episode, Kanon Kazahana, was released on DVD. It was also produced by Toei Animation and directed by Takamichi Itō.

Johann Sebastian Bach
Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, BWV 1068
II. Air on the G String
Orquesta Reino de Aragón
Conductor: Ricardo Casero
"Air on the G String", also known as "Air for G String" and "Celebrated Air", is August Wilhelmj's 1871 arrangement of the second movement of Johann Sebastian Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, BWV 1068. The arrangement differs from the original in that the part of the first violins is transposed down so that it can be played entirely on a violin's lowest string, i.e., the G string.
