Jericho Road is a Latter-day Saintboy band that sings religious music. The band's members are Abe Mills (from St. Louis, Missouri), Dave Kimball (Sandy, Utah), Justin Smith (Parma, Idaho), and Bret Bryce (Knoxville, Tennessee).
Biography
The band members met at Brigham Young University while performing in the group The Young Ambassadors, and developed close friendships performing together. After expressing strong desires to use their performing talents in a way that would be both entertaining and inspiring, they decided to form a new group, Jericho Road.
When Abe Mills, Bret Bryce, Dave Kimball, and Justin Smith stepped onto the music scene as Jericho Road in August 2001, they were met with immediate success. Their self-titled debut release broke all sales records for their label Shadow Mountain, selling over 10,000 copies in its first week. Nearly 150,000 copies later, the band continues to share their music and conviction with fans of all faiths throughout the world.
Jericho Road has been fortunate to team up with many award-winning songwriters and musicians. These include Christian artists Steve Siler, Lowell Alexander, and Scott Kripayne.
Route 417 (Hebrew:כביש 417, "Kvish Arba'-Achat-Sheva'") is an intercity road in Israel and the West Bank that stretches from the west side of Jerusalem to Ma'ale Adumim and Highway 1 east to the Jordan Valley.
History
Most of the road serves as a local thoroughfare within Jerusalem and East Jerusalem. The road has been non-contiguous since the construction of the Israeli West Bank barrier through Abu Dis in 2006. Route 417 used to be the main route from the west to the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea, bypassing downtown Jerusalem. With the opening of Jerusalem Road 9 (Derech Yitzhak Shamir and Yigal Yadin Boulevard) and the Ma'ale Adumim Road, the historic route lost that distinction. With the closure of the road in Abu Dis, the route no longer serves that option at all.
Route
The route's name changes many times along the way. From west to east:
Named after the biblical prophet, the route begins at Weizmann Boulevard at the base of the Strings Bridge, an area known historically as the western "Jerusalem Gate", the main entrance to the city from the west. It passes the beginning of Jaffa Road near the Jerusalem Central Bus Station and the headquarters of Magen David Adom. It then winds through the Romema neighborhood as a commercial and light-industrial four-lane divided boulevard.
Joan Baez is the self-titled debut album by folk singer Joan Baez. The album was recorded in the summer of 1960 and released the same year. The original release featured 13 traditional folk songs, later reissues included 3 additional songs.
In 2015, the album was selected for induction into National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress for special recognition and preservation as one of the sound recordings in over 130 years of recording history that has "cultural, artistic and/or historical significance to American society and the nation’s audio legacy".
History
Though Baez was reportedly offered a contract with Columbia at the time, she chose to go instead with the independent Vanguard label, hoping for increased artistic license. Baez recorded the album in the summer of 1960 when she was nineteen. Most of the songs featured only Baez' vocals and guitar, with a second guitar (played by Fred Hellerman, of The Weavers), added to some songs. Despite the lack of strings and horns, backup singers and hit singles, the album went gold, although it did not make the Billboard 200 chart until 1962, following the success of her second album, Joan Baez, Vol. 2. Joan Baez peaked at number 15 and spent 140 weeks on the chart.
Jericho (/ˈdʒɛrɪkoʊ/; Arabic:أريحاʾArīḥā[ʔaˈriːħaː]; Hebrew: יְרִיחוֹYeriẖo) is a city located near the Jordan River in the West Bank. It is the administrative seat of the Jericho Governorate. In 2007, it had a population of 18,346. The city was occupied by Jordan from 1949 to 1967, and has been held under Israeli occupation since 1967; administrative control was handed over to the Palestinian Authority in 1994. It is believed to be one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world.
Archaeologists have unearthed the remains of more than 20 successive settlements in Jericho, the first of which dates back 11,000 years (9000 BCE), almost to the very beginning of the Holocene epoch of the Earth's history.
Copious springs in and around the city have attracted human habitation for thousands of years and Jericho is described in the Hebrew Bible as the "City of Palm Trees".
Etymology
Jericho's name in Hebrew, Yeriẖo, is thought to derive from Canaanite word Reaẖ ("fragrant"), though an alternative theory holds that it is derived from the word meaning "moon" (Yareaẖ) in Canaanite, or the name of the lunar deityYarikh, for whom since the city was an early centre of worship.
Christopher Keith Irvine (born November 9, 1970), better known by the ring nameChris Jericho, is a Canadian professional wrestler, musician, media personality, actor, author, and businessman, currently signed to WWE. He also performed for Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and international promotions in Canada, Germany, Japan, and Mexico. Jericho is known for his over-the-top, rock star persona – dubbed "The Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla" – and for a contrasting run as an aloof, manicured villain in the late 2000s and early 2010s.
Jericho has won 30 championships between WWE, WCW, and ECW – the three most prominent American wrestling promotions in the 1990s and early 2000s. He is credited as being the first UndisputedWWF Champion, having unified the World Championship (formerly the WCW Championship) and the WWF Championship by defeating The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin on the same night in 2001. He is also the ninthTriple Crown Champion, as well as the fourthGrand Slam Champion in WWE history. In addition, he was the 2008 Superstar of the Year Slammy Award winner and (along with Big Show as Jeri-Show) won the 2009 Tag Team of the Year Slammy Award – making him the only winner of both Superstar and Tag Team of the Year in WWE history.
Paul Robeson considered Jericho one of his most positive accomplishments in projecting a screen image of a Black man with courage, honor, self-sacrifice and intelligence who achieves success and happiness. Robeson’s first British film Sanders of the River ended up being an embarrassment for the actor, its story turning into a celebration of British colonialism. Robeson felt betrayed by the production team and sought without success to buy all circulating prints. As a result, Robeson demands artistic control over the final cut of the film. For example, the ending was to be that Jericho, homesick, agreed to help clear the captain’s name in the United States. After their plane crashes in the desert, Jericho dies trying to save Captain Mack. Instead, Robeson simply requested that the movie ends with the captain flying off alone.
From her new CD, Joan Baez performs a stunning rendition of Steve Earle's Jericho Road. I created a walking meditation video for the song.

Joan Baez - King's Highway
Joan Baez - King's Highway , Dark chords on a big guitar (2003)
Lyrics:
I might just change my mind
Sometimes you can never tell
Where a story will unwind
How deep is the shallow ground
Sometimes you would never guess
Who's all talk and who just might
Find a way or lose themselves
On the king's highway tonight
I am just like many more
Who lie in bed, still and numb
Waking up and I can see
Just how dark it has become
Who knows no better angels now
Who knows none but earthly light
Who is waiting for a stranger
On the king's highway tonight
It wasn't how I had it planned
When it finally came around
I took a man with my own hands
But I held him close when he went down
He hadn't time to be afraid
His look was only of surprise
Staring up from where he lay
On the king's highway tonight

Let's drink to the hard working people Let's drink to the lowly of birth Raise your glass to the good and the evil Let's drink to the salt of the earth Say a prayer for the common foot soldier Spare a thought for his back breaking work Say a prayer for his wife and his children Who burn the fires and who still till the earth When I search a faceless crowd Swirling mass of grey, black and white They don't look real to me In fact they look so strange Raise your glass to the hard working people Let's drink to the uncounted head Let's think of the wavering millions Who want leaders but get gamblers instead Spare a thought for the stay-at-home voter His empty eyes gaze at strange beauty shows And a parade of gray suited grafters A choice of cancer or polio And when I search a faceless crowd Swirling mass of grey, black and white They don't look real to me In fact they look so strange Let's drink to the hard working people Let's think of the lowly of birth Spare a thought for the ragtaggy people Let's drink to the salt of the earth Let's drink to the hard working people Let's drink to the salt of the earth Let's think of the three thousand million
