Teens arrested after crashing stolen car in Lockport
Dec. 4—Four teenagers are facing charges after they were caught running from a stolen car they crashed in the City of Lockport early Sunday morning.
A New York State Police trooper said they spotted a '02 Toyota Camry run a stop sign at Ohio Street and West Avenue around 3 a.m. Sunday. The trooper said they tried to initiate a traffic stop but the Camry driver kept driving, leading the trooper on a brief chase that ended when the Camry drove into a fence on Vine Street.
The teens ran from the crashed vehicle but were located with assistance from the Lockport Police Department and Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
The four juveniles, all age 14, were charged with criminal possession of stolen property and two were charged with resisting arrest.
The vehicle had recently been stolen with troopers noting the car was left unlocked with the keys in the vehicle.
The four juveniles were issued tickets to Family Court.
