"Is There Anybody Out There?" is a song from the Pink Floyd album, The Wall.
Music
The first half of the piece has the same concept of "Hey You", being a distress call from Pink. Musically, it's a droning bass synthesizer with various sound effects layered on top, and a repeating chorus of "Is there anybody out there?". The shrill siren-like sound effect used during this song is also used in an earlier Pink Floyd work, "Echoes". The noise was originally used as a sort of whale call for the deep-water-based "Echoes", and is created by David Gilmour using a wah-wah pedal with the cables reversed.
The second half of the song is an instrumental classical guitar solo. Interestingly, it is not widely known who played it: In several interviews, David Gilmour has said that he tried to perform it, and was not satisfied with the final result ("I could play it with a leather pick but couldn't play it properly fingerstyle"). Accordingly, session musician Joe DiBlasi was brought in by Michael Kamen to play with the rest of the orchestra. He was ultimately wrongly credited as "Ron DiBlasi" on the album sleeve because Roger Waters only remembered that it was a three-letter name; Ron was the closest name he could remember to Joe when creating the record.
Is There Anybody Out There? is the debut album from American pop duo A Great Big World. Its single "Say Something" achieved considerable success after Christina Aguilera heard the song, decided to collaborate on the song and a re-recorded version was released.
Critical reception
The reception to the album has been mixed. Timothy Monger of Allmusic thought that the duo Ian Axel and Chad King tackled "some classic pop territory with a wide-eyed sincerity that is ultimately appealing if occasionally trite," that the production is "concise and full of punch," but there are moments that could "benefit from some subtlety." Jason Lipschutz of Billboard said that the album is "as uniformly earnest as the sombre lead" single "Say Something," but also has songs that offered "quirky optimism and snappy tempo." Glenn Gamboa of Newsday found the album filled with surprises and thought it musically and lyrically "eclectic." He judged the duo to have approached the album "with such passion and joyfulness on "Is There Anyone Out There?"(sic) that you end up going along for the wild ride and enjoying it." Elysa Gardner of USA Today was equally positive and thought the tunes in the album "smartly crafted," the singing of the duo blended "seamlessly," and that their more driving tracks "establish this pair as pop contenders."

Is There Anybody Out There? - Pink Floyd - The Wall - 4K Remastered
"Is There Anybody Out There?" is a song from the Pink Floyd album, The Wall.
At this point in the plot, the bitter and alienated Pink is attempting to reach anybody outside of his self-built wall. The repeated question "Is there anybody out there?" suggests that no response is heard.

In the film, during the ominous opening to the song, Pink is standing in front of the completed wall, and throws himself against it several times as if trying to escape. Is There Anybody Out There? - Official Trailer
My body is extremely unusual, and I’ve never seen another like my own. ‘Is There Anybody Out There?’ is a personal documentary following my search to track down other individuals with the same rare disability as me. The film also explores the experience of being a disabled pregnant woman as well as the emotional process of becoming a mother, when I unexpectedly find out I am pregnant. Perhaps more than anything however, this story is about ableism – about living in a world where you’re seen as less than human – and what it takes to love yourself fiercely despite this.

LYRICS
I was born as a bastard, no father, no master,
A shadow in silence left searching for answers
Put up for adoption and left with no option
Another kid fostered to fester forgotten
Take a look into these desperate eyes
As they’re cast into the wretched hive
But I ain’t going down alone
Is there anybody out there?
Anybody listening to me?
Is anybody else scared?
The paranoia, drops me to my knees
Does anybody feel lonely?
Disconnected from the things I see
Is there anybody out there?
Anybody out there just like me?
I’m choking on these words and I can’t breathe
Now I stand as a father, to men with no honor
Ashamed of the racists I used to call brothers
Cause no flag can mean bravery,
when bloodied by slavery,
The rebel, a devil, disguised as a savior
And the sickening feeling in the air
Is the fear to speak that no one dares
So will I stand here all alone?
Is there anybody out there?
Anybody listening to me?
Is anybody else scared?
The paranoia, drops me to my knees
Does anybody feel lonely?
Disconnected from the things I see
Is there anybody out there?
Anybody out there just like me?
I’m choking on these words and I can’t breathe
Live my life like I’ll die tonight
Dream like I’ll live forever
I have roared at the world for years
Doesn’t anybody hear me?
This burden suffered, I’ve paid the cost
Not all who wander are lost
Is there anybody out there?
Anybody listening to me?
Is anybody else scared?
The paranoia, drops me to my knees
Does anybody feel lonely?
Disconnected from the things I see

My body is extremely unusual, and I’ve never seen another like my own. ‘Is There Anybody Out There?’ is a personal documentary following my search to track down other individuals with the same rare disability as me.
In pitch dark I go walking in your landscape Broken branches trip me as I speak Just cos you feel it doesn't mean it's there Just cos you feel it doesn't mean it's there There's always a siren singing you to shipwreck (don't reach out, don't reach out Stay away from these rocks we'd be a walking disaster (don't reach out, don't reach out Just cos you feel it doesn't mean it's there (there's someone on your shoulder Just coz you feel it doesn't mean it's there (there's someone on your shoulder Feel it Why so green And lonely Heaven sent you To me We are accidents waiting Waiting to happen We are accidents waiting
