Amplifier

An amplifier, electronic amplifier or (informally) amp is an electronic device that can increase the power of a signal.

It does this by taking energy from a power supply and controlling the output to match the input signal shape but with a larger amplitude. In this sense, an amplifier modulates the output of the power supply to make the output signal stronger than the input signal. An amplifier is effectively the opposite of an attenuator: while an amplifier provides gain, an attenuator provides loss.

An amplifier can either be a separate piece of equipment or an electrical circuit within another device. The ability to amplify is fundamental to modern electronics, and amplifiers are widely used in almost all electronic equipment. The types of amplifiers can be categorized in different ways. One is by the frequency of the electronic signal being amplified; audio amplifiers amplify signals in the audio (sound) range of less than 20 kHz, RF amplifiers amplify frequencies in the radio frequency range between 20 kHz and 300 GHz. Another is which quantity, voltage or current is being amplified; amplifiers can be divided into voltage amplifiers, current amplifiers, transconductance amplifiers, and transresistance amplifiers. A further distinction is whether the output is a linear or nonlinear representation of the input. Amplifiers can also be categorized by their physical placement in the signal chain.

Amplifier (Amplifier album)

Amplifier is the debut album of the Manchester alternative rock band Amplifier.

Originally released by Music For Nations on June 6, 2004, it was re-released by the German-based label SPV in May 2005 after the collapse of the former. The Music For Nations release came in two formats: jewel case with 10 tracks, and digipack with 13 tracks. Unlike normal special editions, the 13-track version's bonus tracks are in the middle of the album, apparently forming the "true" album as the band intended it. The SPV release contains a bonus EP with four additional tracks (all previously released) and videos of two songs from the original.

The critical reception of the album was generally positive, with comments such as:

"A British rock-scene altering record. Enjoy it in all its infinite glory" Kerrang!

"No other record this year will have the audacity to field such lofty ambitions, let alone have the skills to fulfil them" NME

  Hi folks, in this video, we show you the almighty Disambiguation by Drunk Beaver, a pedal with a unique design. The Disambiguation is a "Rat-into-Muff" kind of pedal; it has a Rat gain stage (Soviet LM308 clone chip, without filter and clipping diodes). Then it has two Big Muff gain stages like the Russian Big Muff (with the same transistors and diodes, KT3102EM and KD521A). After that, the Disambiguation has a Big Muff tone stack (closer to Ram's Head). The last gain recovery stage is based on JFET. Long story short, this pedal has a HUGE sound and, unlike a standard Muff, it's dynamic, versatile, and retains some of the natural tones of your guitar.   The premise of the song comes from exploring the idea of God more than a crisis of faith. I titled this piece with the intention of holding two meanings. In the first, 'essential' means 'needed', i.e. the idea of the afterlife and God must be clarified (disambiguated). Too often I find myself biting my tongue when discussing my religious beliefs, and I feel a victim of a double standard when people are welcomed to preach theirs. Therefore, I think it essential to challenge the belief in order to further clarify and understand the question 'what is God?'. Growth comes from facing the difficult. Too often I find myself biting my tongue when discussing my religious beliefs, and I feel a victim of a double standard when people are welcomed to preach theirs. Therefore, I think it essential to challenge the belief in order to further clarify and understand the question 'what is God?'. Growth comes from facing the difficult. I'm always attracted to discussing faith with deep believers in order to mutually inspire thought and progress. 'Essential' can also refer to the 'essence', or soul, which create the title's second meaning. What is a soul? Is there something ethereal inside all of us or are we just animated organisms stimulated by electric currents? If God exists, I think the soul would be the closest relation that we humans could ever have to something virtuous. So, of all possible lifelong activities, the pursuit of understanding the soul should be top priority. Something to think about whilst listening. Otherwise, just enjoy the noise! I'm really proud of the amount of time and effort I put into this song. Not only has it humbled me in appreciating the energy needed to create a complete piece of music, but it also marks a pretty big milestone for me as a musician. There is always much to improve, but I feel accomplished where I currently stand. Amplifier

An amplifier, electronic amplifier or (informally) amp is an electronic device that can increase the power of a signal.

It does this by taking energy from a power supply and controlling the output to match the input signal shape but with a larger amplitude. In this sense, an amplifier modulates the output of the power supply to make the output signal stronger than the input signal. An amplifier is effectively the opposite of an attenuator: while an amplifier provides gain, an attenuator provides loss.

An amplifier can either be a separate piece of equipment or an electrical circuit within another device. The ability to amplify is fundamental to modern electronics, and amplifiers are widely used in almost all electronic equipment. The types of amplifiers can be categorized in different ways. One is by the frequency of the electronic signal being amplified; audio amplifiers amplify signals in the audio (sound) range of less than 20 kHz, RF amplifiers amplify frequencies in the radio frequency range between 20 kHz and 300 GHz. Another is which quantity, voltage or current is being amplified; amplifiers can be divided into voltage amplifiers, current amplifiers, transconductance amplifiers, and transresistance amplifiers. A further distinction is whether the output is a linear or nonlinear representation of the input. Amplifiers can also be categorized by their physical placement in the signal chain.

  The premise of the song comes from exploring the idea of God more than a crisis of faith. I titled this piece with the intention of holding two meanings. In the first, 'essential' means 'needed', i.e. the idea of the afterlife and God must be clarified (disambiguated). Too often I find myself biting my tongue when discussing my religious beliefs, and I feel a victim of a double standard when people are welcomed to preach theirs. Therefore, I think it essential to challenge the belief in order to further clarify and understand the question 'what is God?'. Growth comes from facing the difficult. I'm always attracted to discussing faith with deep believers in order to mutually inspire thought and progress. 'Essential' can also refer to the 'essence', or soul, which create the title's second meaning. What is a soul? Is there something ethereal inside all of us or are we just animated organisms stimulated by electric currents? If God exists, I think the soul would be the closest relation that we humans could ever have to something virtuous. So, of all possible lifelong activities, the pursuit of understanding the soul should be top priority. Something to think about whilst listening. Otherwise, just enjoy the noise! I'm really proud of the amount of time and effort I put into this song. Not only has it humbled me in appreciating the energy needed to create a complete piece of music, but it also marks a pretty big milestone for me as a musician. There is always much to improve, but I feel accomplished where I currently stand.
