The Isle of Portland is a limestone tied island, 6 kilometres (4mi) long by 2.7 kilometres (1.7mi) wide, in the English Channel. Portland is 8 kilometres (5mi) south of the resort of Weymouth, forming the southernmost point of the county of Dorset, England. A barrier beach over which runs the A354 road connects it to Chesil Beach and the mainland. Portland and Weymouth together form the borough of Weymouth and Portland. The population of Portland is 12,400.
Portland Harbour, in between Portland and Weymouth, is one of the largest man-made harbours in the world. The harbour was made by the building of stone breakwaters between 1848 and 1905. From its inception it was a Royal Navy base, and played prominent roles during the First and Second World Wars; ships of the Royal Navy and NATO countries worked up and exercised in its waters until 1995. The harbour is now a civilian port and popular recreation area, and was used for the 2012 Olympic Games.
The Portland was a steam tug built in Portland, Oregon, United States. This vessel was also known as Clayoquat and Phoenix.
Career
Portland was launched on April 9, 1875 in Portland, Oregon. The vessel was operated for 15 years on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers, and then was transferred to Puget Sound. From 1891 to 1895, the Portland operated out of Everett, Washington, piloted by Captain James Hastings.
Drift and recovery
In 1897, the Portland was hauled out at Ballard, Washington, for repairs. Somehow she broke free from the shipway and floated off unoccupied. Eventually, the Portland drifted north into Canadian waters, where she was recovered as a derelict by the B.C. Salvage Company. She came under the control of R.P. Rithet and Company, a prominent British Columbia shipping concern that repurposed her to a passenger steamer. She was renamed Clayoquat and ran on passenger routes out of Port Renfrew, on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Clayoquat later passed to the H.Bell-Irving Company, and was used by them as a cannery tender under the name Phoenix.
About half of the town's perimeter is made up of the Connecticut River. The town has
eight marinas and boat clubs as well as three 18-hole golf courses.
History
The Wangunk tribe lived in the area prior to European settlement, and lived in Portland continuously throughout the settler period. Wangunk descendants still live in the area today. Their name referred to the bend in the Connecticut River which curves around half of the town's perimeter.
"Something" is a song by South Korean pop duo TVXQ, also known as Tohoshinki in Japan. Serving as the lead single for their seventh Korean studio album Tense (2014), the song was produced by TVXQ's long-time collaborator Yoo Young-jin and co-written by Yoo with his brother Yoo Han-jin. Introduced as TVXQ's tenth anniversary comeback single, "Something" was released by S.M. Entertainment on January 6, 2014. Two versions of the song exist; the original Korean-language version, and a Japanese-language version, which was released by Avex Trax as a double A-sidedCD single, along with "Hide & Seek", in Japan on February 5, 2014. It served as the fourth and final single release for the duo's seventh Japanese studio album, Tree (2014). Within a week of its release, the single was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for shipments of over 100,000.
Noted for being a major musical departure from TVXQ's earlier songs, "Something" is a song that incorporates swing performance styles with modern dance-pop. The song deals with a narcissistic male protagonist who tells women that they need to have "that something" in order to attract him. The accompanying music video, filmed in early December 2013, premiered on January 1, 2014 at 6pm KST.
Something is a 1970 album by Shirley Bassey. With her career having been in decline since the latter part of the mid 1960s, Something proved to be Shirley Bassey's comeback when it was released in August 1970. The title track single became her biggest UK hit for many years, reaching No.4 and spending 22 weeks on the chart. This was actually the second single featured on the album, "The Sea and Sand" having already been released earlier. The album was similarly her biggest hit for many years in the album charts, reaching No.5 and spending 28 weeks in the top 50.
This album led to a major revival in Bassey's career, and it would see Bassey transform into mainly an album artist, recording fifteen albums in the 1970s (four of those live recordings). Of those three would be top ten albums, three others in the top fifteen, and a further four in the top 40. She would also reach the top three twice, with a pair of compilations. (UK Albums Chart)
This was also her first work with record producer Noel Rogers and producer/arranger Johnny Harris, who built on Bassey's traditional pop roots to include contemporary songs and arrangements.
Girl's Day (Hangul:걸스데이) is a four-member South Korean girl group formed under Dream Tea Entertainment, a subsidiary of Wellmade Yedang in 2010.
The group consists of four girls who perform under the stage names of Sojin, Minah, Yura and Hyeri. Their official fan club name is Dai5y, changing the S in daisy as they had 5 members when they created this name.
Career
Pre-debut
Dream Tea started Girl's Day promotions before their debut with the creation of an official blog, YouTube channel, and Twitter accounts for the group and each member.
A forum made by fans was also recognized by the company as their official international forum.
The group also had dance flash mobs before their debut at the commercial and entertainment districts of Seoul, gaining interest of the public.
On July 7, the group released their first music video for the song "Tilt My Head". Two days later their debut mini-album. Girl's Day Party 1, was also released. They went on to further promote the album by releasing a second music video on July 21 for the track titled "How About Me", which was about summer. On September 12, only two months after their debut, it was announced that members Ji Sun and Ji In had left the group to pursue their respective interests; Yura and Hyeri were then added to the group. On October 29, the new line-up released their first digital single album, Girl's Day Party 2, which includes the lead track, "Nothing Lasts Forever" (잘해줘봐야 Jalhaejwo Bwaya).

Guide to Oregon Part 1: Portland Victory
Watch Part 2: http://bit.ly/1IgOarO
In the MUNCHIES Guide to Oregon, host Gabi Chai traverses the state to uncover the natural culinary bounty of the state of Oregon. Overflowing with great wine, coffee, food trucks, seafood, and more strip clubs per capita than any city in the world, this gem of America’s Pacific Northwest is just begging to be explored.
Gabi kicks off her journey with a caffeinated history lesson about coffee and Portland from Duane Sorenson—founder of Stumptown Coffee Roasters—before popping next door to his restaurant, The Woodsman Tavern, to partake in another Oregon specialty: a tower of fresh-caught seafood. She also eats her way through a few of Portland’s 600 food trucks to understand the regional phenomenon that has created an entirely new dining scene. And no ...

Portland is a city that prides itself on being different, and this video showcases that in spades. We start our journey with the Witch's Castle, a mysterious stone structure tucked away in the woods of Forest Park. Is it haunted? Is it just an old restroom? The legends surrounding it are as captivating as the structure itself. From there, we delve into the city's underground past with a look at the Shanghai Tunnels, a network of underground pathways that hold secrets of a darker time in Portland's history.
But it's not all eerie and mysterious; Portland also knows how to have fun in the most unique ways. Ever thought you'd find a vegan strip club? Well, Portland has one, and it's as intriguing as it sounds. And let's not forget the 24-Hour Church of Elvis, a coin-operated art gallery that offers a one-of-a-kind experience for fans of the King of Rock 'n' Roll.
Foodies will also find something to love in this city. From Voodoo Doughnut, where you can get married and enjoy a bacon maple bar, to Ota Tofu, the oldest tofu shop in the United States, Portland's culinary scene is as diverse as its attractions. And if you're into literature, prepare to get lost in Powell's City of Books, a bookstore so massive it takes up an entire city block.
We also venture a bit outside the city to explore the Oregon Vortex, a place where the laws of physics seem to take a backseat, offering a mind-bending experience that has to be seen to be believed.
So, whether you're planning a trip to Portland or just love discovering quirky places from the comfort of your home, this video offers a glimpse into the weird and wonderful world that is Portland, Oregon. From its unique eateries and museums to its historical landmarks with a twist, Portland truly is a treasure trove of the unusual, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to experience something out of the ordinary.

And no visit to Portland is complete without a meal prepared by Gabriel Rucker, the 2011 James Beard Award Rising Star Chef of the Year and 2013 Best Chef: Northwest—we get the VIP treatment and enjoy a home-cooked meal with Gabriel and his family.

Take a guided nature walk to boost your physical and mental health, wellness and happiness.
Andrea Kreiner has devoted her life to the outdoors. She spent decades doing work on climate change and sustainability initiatives before moving to Oregon with her family five years ago, shifting gears to focus on what she truly loves the most: helping people connect with nature. She started Red Cedar Forest Therapy to help families, couples and groups of all ages immerse themselves in the natural world in a meaningful way — and find better health, joy, tranquility and inspiration while they’re at it. She’s one of about eight guides in Portland certified by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy, plus more across the state of Oregon. Here are five questions with Andrea about forest therapy in Oregon.
