House is a Canadian drama film, released in 1995. Written and directed by Laurie Lynd as an adaptation of Daniel MacIvor's one-man play House, the film stars MacIvor as Victor, an antisocial drifter with some hints of paranoid schizophrenia, who arrives in the town of Hope Springs and invites ten strangers into the local church to watch him perform a monologue about his struggles and disappointments in life.
The original play was performed solely by MacIvor. For the film, Lynd added several other actors, giving the audience members some moments of direct interaction and intercutting Victor's monologue with scenes which directly depict the stories he describes. The extended cast includes Anne Anglin, Ben Cardinal, Patricia Collins, Jerry Franken, Caroline Gillis, Kathryn Greenwood, Nicky Guadagni, Joan Heney, Rachel Luttrell, Stephen Ouimette, Simon Richards, Christofer Williamson and Jonathan Wilson.
Between 1989 and 1995, Babes in Toyland released three studio albums; Spanking Machine (1990), the commercially successful Fontanelle (1992), and Nemesisters (1995), before becoming inactive in 1997 and eventually disbanding in 2001. While the band was inspirational to some performers in the riot grrrl movement in the Pacific Northwest, Babes in Toyland never associated themselves with the movement.
In August 2014, Babes In Toyland announced that they would be reuniting.
History
Formation and early years (1987-1991)
Babes in Toyland formed in 1987, after frontwoman Kat Bjelland met drummer Lori Barbero at a friend's barbecue. Originally from Woodburn, Oregon and a former resident of San Francisco, Bjelland had moved to Minneapolis to form a band. Over the following months, Bjelland convinced Barbero to play drums and formed Babes in Toyland in winter 1987. In its initial formation in 1987, in addition to Bjelland and Barbero, the band included Kris Holetz on bass and singer Cindy Russell. It has been widely believed that, following the departures of Holetz and Russell, the band briefly recruited Bjelland's friend - and former bandmate of the band Pagan Babies - Courtney Love on bass. However, it is known that Love had lied to the press on multiple occasions about her involvement with the band. Love, who later went on to form the successful band Hole, only stood in Minneapolis a number of weeks before leaving as she was not in the band, but rather a roommate of Barbero's. She then stole money from the band and left Minneapolis. Bjelland, in an interview, once stated:
The 1790 House, originally on Main Street, has been moved closer to the canal to make room for a hotel. It now faces more south than its original facing of southwest.
History
The Federal style house was originally built in 1790 on the banks of the Middlesex Canal, for Woburn lawyer Joseph Bartlett. Shortly before completion it was purchased by Col. Loammi Baldwin, noted engineer, who hoped to convince expatriate scientist and inventor Benjamin Thompson, Count Rumford, to return to his home town. Although this idea never came to fruition, author Frances Parkinson Keyes, who later spent childhood summers in the home, refers to it repeatedly in her memoirs as the Count Rumford House. The house also features in her autobiography, Roses in December.
Empty is the first studio album released by Christian rock band Tait. This album features Pete Stewart from Grammatrain, who is absent in the next album. Several songs are influenced by the passing of Michael Tait's late father Nathel, for whom the band is named.
The advance pre-release copy for this album contained slightly different mixes to the released CD and omitted the track "Altars" as well as both hidden tracks. "Altars" is the only song from this album to be turned into a music video; "Loss For Words" was featured on the soundtrack for the movie Extreme Days.
There are two hidden tracks on this CD, one an instrumental piece that appears after the closing track "Unglued," the other in the pregap (or "zero" index) before the opening track "Alibi," which can be accessed by pressing the 'rewind' button on the CD player when track one begins. The disc scans back 6 minutes and 48 seconds into negative numbers revealing answering machine messages with Michael Tait doing various character impersonations. There is also a short joke-oriented piece in this hidden track.
"Empty" is The Click Five's third single for Thailand and the Philippines and the second single for Singapore and Malaysia taken from their album Modern Minds and Pastimes.
Songwriter/keyboardist Ben Romans told Songfacts: "This is a song that actually came right before the record. And I remember it was one of those weird melody things. I have a studio in Boston and I kept hearing this melody, and I had to pull over when I was singing in the car. But fortunately I didn't forget it."
"First" is a song by American actress and singer-songwriter Lindsay Lohan, taken from her debut studio album, Speak (2004). It was released as the album's third and final single on May 10, 2005 (see 2005 in music). The song was released to help promote Lohan's film, Herbie: Fully Loaded, in which it appears on the soundtrack. The song failed to chart in the United States, but it performed well in other countries such as Taiwan.
The song is about wanting to come first in her boyfriend's life. The song incorporates high pop punk oriented instrumental sounds, but it also conserves her typical teen pop touch. The song was the least successful single from its parent album.
Background
"First" was written and produced by hit-makers Kara DioGuardi and John Shanks, who would later produce her second album A Little More Personal (Raw). The song was recorded in Lohan's trailer on the set of Herbie: Fully Loaded in September 2004. She had been recording and filming the movie back-to-back. Kara DioGuardi and Cory Rooney, who wrote and produced Lohan's first single, provided background vocals for the song.

This classic video – originally titled as "House Search" – is a dramatized spy training film produced by the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the intelligence agency of the United States during World War 2, and the predecessor of the modern Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). It was released between circa 1942 and circa 1945.
The film demonstrates proper and improper methods of searching houses, apartments, and hotel rooms for hidden information by contrasting the behavior of two fictional agents stationed in "a neutral capital in Europe." It shows creative ways to hide evidence of espionage activities, to trick counter agents so you know your place has been searched, to pass information to other agents in unsuspicious manner. It lists rules to follow during a house search, explains where to look for evidence, how to make it appear as if room has not been searched, what tools to have on hand and much more.
Plot:
The story begins with an American industrialist working in a neutral European country, who is working as an undercover OSS agent. He has hidden a purloined chemical sample and other info in his apartment, which is soon searched by an enemy agent, who knows a few things, but doesn't know enough to find what he's after. The tables are then turned and the enemy agent's rooms are searched by OSS operatives, who do a much better job finding secret information.
BACKGROUND / CONTEXT
Warrantless searches are searches and seizures conducted without search warrants. In the United States, warrantless searches are restricted under the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution, part of the Bill of Rights, which provides that, "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
Espionage & Counterintelligence:
Espionage (colloquially, spying) is the obtaining of secret or confidential information without the permission of the holder of the information. Spies help agencies uncover secret information. Any individual or spy ring (a cooperating group of spies), in the service of a government, company or independent operation, can commit espionage. The practice is clandestine, as it is by definition unwelcome and in many cases illegal and punishable by law. Espionage is a subset of "intelligence" gathering, which includes espionage as well as information gathering from public sources.
One of the most effective ways to gather data and information about the enemy (or potential enemy) is by infiltrating the enemy's ranks. This is the job of the spy (espionage agent). Spies can return all sorts of information concerning the size and strength of enemy forces. They can also find dissidents within the enemy's forces and influence them to defect. In times of crisis, spies can also oblige to steal technology and sabotage the enemy in various ways. Counterintelligence is the practice of various means of thwarting enemy espionage and intelligence-gathering. Almost all nations have strict laws concerning espionage and the penalty for being caught is often severe. However, the benefits through espionage are often great enough that most governments and many large corporations make use of it to varying degrees.
