A duplexcommunication system is a point-to-point system composed of two connected parties or devices that can communicate with one another in both directions. "Duplex" comes from "duo" that means "double", and "plex" that means "structure" or "parts of"; thus, a duplex system has two clearly defined data transmissions, with each path carrying information in only one direction: A to B over one path, and B to A over the other. There are two types of duplex communication systems: full-Duplex and half-Duplex.
In a full duplex system, both parties can communicate with each other simultaneously. An example of a full-duplex device is a telephone; the parties at both ends of a call can speak and be heard by the other party simultaneously. The earphone reproduces the speech of the remote party as the microphone transmits the speech of the local party, because there is a two-way communication channel between them, or more strictly speaking, because there are two communication paths/channels between them.

What are frequency division duplex and Time Division Duplex in telecommunication?
The most frequent form of communication is bidirectional communication which allows simultaneous transmitting and receiving. A system capable of doing this is called full-duplex. One can also achieve full-duplex capability if sending and receiving do not occur simultaneously but switching between both phases is done so fast that it is not noticed by the user, i.e. both directions can be used quasi-simultaneously. Modern digital mobile radio systems are always full-duplex capable. Essentially, two basic duplex procedures are employed: Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) using different frequency bands in each direction, and Time Division Duplex (TDD) which periodically switches the direction of transmission.
Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) is a technique used in analog and digital mobile radio...

What is Simplex versus Repeater (Duplex) mode in Ham and GMRS radio. Updated Apr 5, 2022.
This is a slightly updated video of a previous video I posted. I created a dedicated channel for just Ham Radio and GMRS here.
A short and simple explanation of what the words SIMPLEX and REPEATER (DUPLEX) modes mean in 2-way radio communications. DUPLEX is another term used to describe a repeater frequency pair because the transmit and receive frequency is not the same frequency. Another meaning of DUPLEX is when some commercial grade mobile radios (ex: Motorola) can both talk and listen to a repeater at the same time, and hear themselves as they are transmitting. For this reason, the term REPEATER is more commonly used than DUPLEX. SIMPLEX & REPEATER is used in ham radio and GMRS when operating on the VHF & UHF bands. Simplex is point-to-point, line-of-sight, direct radio transmissio...

Modern digital mobile radio systems are always full-duplex capable. Essentially, two basic duplex procedures are employed: Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) using different frequency bands in each direction, and Time Division Duplex (TDD) which periodically switches the direction of transmission.
Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) is a technique used in analog and digital mobile radio systems. It divides the available frequency band into two distinct partial bands: the uplink band and the downlink band. The uplink band is used for transmitting signals from the mobile device to the base station, while the downlink band carries signals from the base station to the mobile device. By employing sharp filters, FDD ensures effective separation and minimizes interference between the uplink and downlink transmissions. This technique enhances the overall capacity and performance of mobile communication systems.
On the other hand, Time Division Duplex (TDD) achieves bidirectional communication over a single frequency channel by dividing the transmission time into alternating time slots. Each time slot is dedicated to either uplink or downlink communication. Timing synchronization between devices is crucial in TDD to ensure proper switching between uplink and downlink transmissions. TDD efficiently utilizes the available frequency spectrum and offers flexibility in allocating time slots dynamically based on communication needs and traffic conditions.

Simplex is point-to-point, line-of-sight, direct radio transmission between two or more radios all operating on the same transmit and receive frequency to talk and receive. Repeaters are typically high elevation relay stations that repeat the transmission of one radio on a frequency, and re-transmitted on a different frequency where the listening radio will be receiving and listening. This happens automatically. I will explain how the repeater frequency set up in the radio is done in more detail in another video. #ham #simplex #duplex #repeater

In this video, the different transmission modes in the communication system are explained with examples.
Types of Communication:
1) Simplex Communicaiton
2) Half-Duplex Communication
3) Full-Duplex Communication
Simplex Communication:
It is a one-way communication, where a transmission can happen only in one direction.
Examples: Radio or TV broadcasting, Communication between CPU and Display Monitor
Half-Duplex Communication:
It is a two-way communication, but both devices cannot transmit simultaneously.
Examples: Walkie-Talkie with push-to-talk button
Full-Duplex Communication:
It is also a two-way communication, but both devices can transmit simultaneously.
The full-duplex communication is achieved through either Frequency Division Duplexing or using Time Division Duplexing. In this video, both approaches have been discussed.
Examples: Satellite Communication, Cellular Networks

In this lecture, we will understand Frequency division duplex and Time division duplex In communication system.
