A silo (from the Greek σιρός – siros, "pit for holding grain") is a structure for storing bulk materials. Silos are used in agriculture to store grain (see grain elevators) or fermented feed known as silage. Silos are more commonly used for bulk storage of grain, coal, cement, carbon black, woodchips, food products and sawdust. Three types of silos are in widespread use today: tower silos, bunker silos, and bag silos.
Types of silos
Cement storage silos
There are different types of cement silos such as the low-level mobile silo and the static upright cement silo, which are used to hold and discharge cement and other powder materials such as PFA (Pulverised Fuel Ash). The low-level silos are fully mobile with capacities from 10 to 75 tons. They are simple to transport and are easy to set up on site. These mobile silos generally come equipped with an electronic weighing system with digital display and printer. This allows any quantity of cement or powder discharged from the silo to be controlled and also provides an accurate indication of what remains inside the silo. The static upright silos have capacities from 20 to 80 tons. These are considered a low-maintenance option for the storage of cement or other powders. Cement silos can be used in conjunction with bin-fed batching plants.

Shocking moment grain store explodes after collapsing - Daily Mail
A silo filled with corn toppled over and caused an explosion at White Farms Inc in Switz City, Indiana on Monday afternoon. The terrifying explosion was caught on video and posted online. Jordan White posted the video on Monday and it quickly had millions of views. His relative Jake White said the family had owned the silo for more than five years and had filled it a number of times without any problems until Monday. The video shows the silo slowly tipping over until it finally fell and all the corn flooded out, hitting three power boxes that ignited the corn dust and created the explosion. The onlookers immediately back away and scream, but the fire extinguishes itself quickly. As the dust settles and the person filming slowly walks closer and simply says: 'Another day at the farm' before...

As the dust settles and the person filming slowly walks closer and simply says: 'Another day at the farm' before the two and a half minute video ends. By Tuesday night, the video had been viewed more than 9million times.

Efficient Grain Bunker Storage in Spring Ridge, NSW
Based in Spring Ridge, a small town in northern NSW, James Hockey from Single Tree Agriculture comes from a family tradition in farming dating back to 1948 with a predominant focus on cropping.
With a forecast of a high sorghum harvest and limited storage in silos, James needed to explore bulk storage upgrades to store grain on-farm.
James reached out to Polytex who assisted him with supply of grain tarps and everything required to setup and operate a cost-effective bunker storage solution allowing for uninterrupted operations during the critical harvest window.

How Farms Work is a YouTube channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. Our videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and GMO crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.

He walks out each morning He knows where he's going It will take ten days to get to the desert in the sea And she'll stay home waiting And she'll stay home praying That the sand turned liquid won't take him away I, I suppose that's normal I, I suppose that's average But I, I refuse to think that's life for me She walks out at night She knows where she's at And she'll take her dress off if anyone thinks She's worths twenty-five or more That's how it goes I, I suppose that's normal I, I suppose that's average And I, I refuse to think that's life for me And she'll stay home waiting And he'll stay home praying That the streets will bring her back Safe and sound I, I suppose that's normal I, I suppose that's average But I, I refuse to think that's life for me
