The head of Ofcom has told Sky News misogyny is a problem in "public discourse" but the media regulator does not "shoot from the hip" when launching investigations.
Dame Melanie Dawes' interview with Sophy Ridge came in a week when GB News suspended presenters Dan Wootton and Laurence Fox over comments made about a female journalist.
Ofcom says it is investigating the incident - Laurence Fox apologised on Twitter on Thursday evening and said he was facing the sack from the broadcaster.

GB News: Ofcom Launches Formal Investigation Following 7300 Complaints | Good Morning Britain
Ofcom has launched a formal investigation into GB News after the regulator received thousands of complaints about Laurence Fox's comments on Dan Wootton's show on Tuesday. The announcement came after Dan Wootton's contract as a columnist for MailOnline was terminated, according to a spokesperson for the news website's parent company. In a statement, Ofcom said: "We have launched an investigation into GB News under our rules on offence, after receiving around 7,300 complaints about Tuesday's episode of Tonight with Dan Wootton." Wootton was suspended by GB News on Wednesday, after a row over comments made by actor-turned-political-activist Fox, who had been a fellow presenter for the channel.
It comes as a Conservative MP Caroline Noakes said GB News should be taken off air.

Our spectrum teams are gearing up for a summer of varied events across the country. And the year’s busy period kicked off with the Coronation in London followed by Europe’s biggest musical bash which took place in Liverpool over consecutive weekends.
Our colleagues’ presence was vital in making sure these events go smoothly on the day and also to helped global audiences enjoy them as they’re broadcast.
