Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge/ˈdʒɔːrdiləˈfɔːrdʒ/ is a fictional character who appeared in all seven seasons of the American science fiction television series Star Trek: The Next Generation and its four feature films. Portrayed by LeVar Burton, he served as helmsman of the USS Enterprise-D in the first season, then occupied the role of the chief engineer for the rest of the series and in the films. La Forge has been blind since birth and uses technological devices that allow him to see - a VISOR in the series and the first film, replaced by ocular prosthetic implants in the last three films.
Concept and development
Lt. (J.G.) Geordi La Forge An away-mission regular who is racially black and birth-defect blind – although with prosthetic super-high tech artificial "eyes" which can detect electromagnetic waves from all the way from raw heat to high frequency ultra-violet, making other crewpersons seem hopelessly "blind" by comparison. His closest friend is Data, and the two of them are particularly efficient when working together on away missions. Because of his "eyes", Geordi can also perform some of the functions of a tricorder.

ok guys I’m sorry about the sound quality. I recorded these clips on my phone after I had finished a few episodes at a time so the volume fluctuates. I would have fixed it if I wasn’ using imovie on my iphone😔 this is the same reason I missed some good scenes- sometimes I watched a lot in one day on my tv so there were episodes I forgot to comb through on my phone, and there were some that were so good I wanted to record the whole episode so I didn’t end up recording anything at all! unfortunately I can’t edit this video unless I want to reupload a new one, and I don’t really want to do that

Jack and La Forge stole a cloaking device from Kirk's Bird of Prey in Star Trek: Picard S03E06
Season 1 Episode 1
Episode: "Encounter at Farpoint"
Whilst on its voyage to planet Deneb IV, the Enterprise is obstructed by an immense grid. The encounter is swiftly followed by contact with a member of an omnimpotent alien race that goes by the name Q. The Q have judged humanity's expansion into the galaxy has proceeded at far too great a pace but insist on using examples from humanity's past to justify arguments supporting that the species has failed to reached anything like civilisation or enlightenment and that they should therefore retreat back to Earth. Captain Picard of course protests and offers a counterproposal, that the Q observe the behaviour of the Enterprise crew throughout their mission to Deneb IV as a means of seeing first hand just how far present-day humans have come.

We are introduced to Lieutenant Geordi LaForge, a man who has been blind since birth. Advanced 24th century medical prosthetics have therefore been employed to make it possible for LaForge to see through the application of a piece of technology known as a Visual Instrument and Sensory Organ Replacement, but of course more aptly referred to as a VISOR. LaForge actually sees more of the world around him than that of a sighted person.
