The Gaza Strip (/ˈɡɑːzəˈstrɪp/;Arabic:قطاع غزةQiṭāʿ Ġazzah[qɪˈtˤɑːʕ ˈɣazza]), or simply Gaza, is a
small self-governing Palestinian territory on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, that borders Egypt on the southwest for 11 kilometers (6.8mi) and Israel on the east and north along a 51km (32mi) border. Gaza, together with the West Bank, comprise the Palestinian territories claimed by the Palestinians as the future sovereign State of Palestine. The territories of Gaza and the West Bank are separated from each other by the territory of Israel. Both fall under the jurisdiction of the Palestinian Authority, but Gaza has since June 2007 been governed by Hamas, a Palestinian Islamic organization which came to power in free elections in 2006. It has been placed under an Israeli and U.S.-led international economic and political boycott from that time onwards.
The territory is 41 kilometers (25mi) long, and from 6 to 12 kilometers (3.7 to 7.5mi) wide, with a total area of 365 square kilometers (141sqmi). With around 1.85 million Palestinians on some 362 square kilometers, Gaza ranks as the 6th most densely populated polity in the world. An extensive Israeli buffer zone within the Strip renders much land off-limits to Gaza's Palestinians. Gaza has an annual population growth rate of 2.91% (2014 est.), the 13th highest in the world, and is often referred to as overcrowded. Due to the Israeli–Egyptian blockade, the population is not free to leave or enter the Gaza Strip, nor allowed to freely import or export goods. Sunni Muslims make up the predominant part of the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.
The film focuses on 13-year-old Mohammed Hejazi, a second-grade dropout the filmmaker encountered at the Karni crossing in the Gaza Strip, where Palestinian children often gather to throw stones. The director has made this film available for free online streaming on the official site, below.
The fifth season of the American political drama television series The West Wing aired in the United States on NBC from September 24, 2003, to May 19, 2004, and consisted of 22 episodes. This was the first season with executive producer John Wells as showrunner after series creator Aaron Sorkin departed the series after the conclusion of the previous season.
Cast
The fifth season had star billing for nine major roles, all nine of these were filled by returning main cast members from the fourth season. Martin Sheen receives the "and" credit for his role as President Josiah Bartlet. The rest of the ensemble are credited alphabetically, while Channing is only credited for the episodes in which she appears
The Gaza Empire (1824–1895) was an African empire established by the powerful general Soshangane and was located in southeastern Africa in the area of southern Mozambique and southeastern Zimbabwe, as well as parts of South Africa (sections of Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces). The Gaza Empire, at its height in the 1860s, covered all of Mozambique between the Zambezi and Limpopo rivers.
History
In the 1820s, during a period of severe drought, after the abolition of slavery caused the Great Trek, Nguni armies, Southern (Xhosa) and especially Northern Nguni (Zulu, Swazi, Shangani, Gaza, Matabele or Ndebele, and Ngoni) people who speak related Bantu languages and inhabit southeast Africa from Cape Province to southern Mozambique, began to migrate to Mozambique from what is now South Africa. One Nguni chief, Nxaba, established a short-lived kingdom inland from Sofala, but in 1837 he was defeated by Soshangane, a powerful Nguni rival. Eventually Soshangane established his capital in the highlands of the middle Sabi River in what is present day Zimbabwe. Soshangane named his empire "Gaza" after his grandfather.
Israeli airstrike on Gaza school and shelter kills more than 100 Palestinians in capital
More than 100 Palestinians were killed and dozens others wounded on Saturday following an Israeli airstrike on a school in Gaza’s capital.
Tabeen, the Gaza City institution, was serving as a shelter for thousands amid Israel’s continued offensive against Hamas militants. It was struck by “three missiles” as displaced Palestinians were “getting ready for their dawn prayers,” according to Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal.
Israel’s military confirmed Saturday's attack, claiming it targeted a supposed Hamas command centre within the school.
Israel has claimed militants hide among civilians, operating from within schools, hospitals and designated humanitarian zones. Palestinian groups including Hamas, however, deny this allegation.

These individuals had only recently returned to their homes after a previous warning to evacuate, and now the same area is once again being targeted for evacuation.

A multi-story underground tunnel route spanning about two miles was located and dismantled in central Gaza, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The IDF said the tunnel consisted of multiple branches with several rooms, weapons and means for long-term stay used by terrorist operatives.
The discovery comes as the Israeli military has once again urged Palestinians to evacuate Khan Younis and get to a humanitarian zone.
The IDF began its third invasion of Khan Younis on Thursday following December’s first invasion and another that wrapped up about a week ago.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country will send a delegation to either Cairo or Doha next week to finalize the framework and details of a deal to stop the war in Gaza and free the remaining hostages.
Netanyahu’s comments came in response to a joint statement released Thursday by President Joe Biden and the leaders of Egypt and Qatar, urging Israel and Hamas to continue negotiations and quickly accept a deal.
Brian Katulis, the senior fellow US foreign policy at the Middle East Institute in Washington DC joined LiveNOW from FOX’s Josh Breslow to discuss the latest developments on the Israel-Hamas war, as well as the developments between Israel and Hezbollah.
The two also discussed the potential for an attack on Israel by Iran following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

Gaza’s Civil Defence reports that an Israeli bombing has hit the al-Zahraa School and the Abdel Fattah Hamoud School, both in the eastern area of Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip.
The rescue organisation says that seven people were killed in the al-Zahraa School and five in the Hamoud School, bringing the death toll across both of these attacks to 15.
The Israeli military says it struck Hamas command centres embedded in the areas of the two schools in the Gaza Strip.
Israel’s military has urged Palestinians to flee from numerous areas in and around Khan Younis, claiming Hamas fighters are firing rockets from there and that Israel will respond “forcefully”.
There is a state of panic among Palestinians, particularly in the eastern parts of Khan Younis, after receiving leaflets and warnings from Israeli forces to evacuate to the western parts of Khan Younis in al-Mawasi. These individuals had only recently returned to their homes after a previous warning to evacuate, and now the same area is once again being targeted for evacuation.
Al Jazeera’s Hind Khoudary joins us live from Khan Younis for the latest updates.

Israel has expanded its operations in Lebanon even as it continues its campaign in the GazaStrip, vowing to destroy Hamas, which is also backed by Iran...Israeli strikes hit Beirut suburbs and kill 31 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, medics say.
JERUSALEM — The United States decided not to punish Israel over the dire humanitarian situation in the GazaStrip after giving it an ultimatum to increase aid entering the territory ... shipments in Gaza.
The outgoing US administration appears keen to secure a ceasefire in Lebanon, even as efforts to end Israel's related war in the GazaStrip appear totally adrift ... in parallel with the Gaza war.
At least 17 Palestinians, including two children, were killed on Friday in Israeli shelling targeting various areas of the GazaStrip...Israel has continued its devastating offensive against Gaza since a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct.
Dozens of citizens have been killed and others were injured since the early morning hours in Israeli shelling on various areas of the GazaStrip governorates ... In Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, a man ...
At least nine Palestinians were killed and several injured Friday in Israeli airstrikes across the GazaStrip, according to medical sources ... northwest of the Gaza Strip, said medics and witnesses.
... in the GazaStrip ... Since the start of the ongoing Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, the Israeli occupation has been working to destroy all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip.
According to the ministry, the toll includes 28 deaths in the past 24 hours, adding that 103,490 people have also been wounded in the GazaStrip since the war began on October 7, 2023.
He adds that Israel, if it met Netanyahu’s goal of maintaining a presence in the so-called Philadelphi corridor that separates Gaza and neighboring Egypt, would have “soldiers in the Gaza Strip just containing Hamas in posterity.”.
"There is a frightening difficulty in [obtaining] media coverage inside GazaCity and the northern Gaza Strip," Al-Zwaidi told CPJ... "But I am convinced that my presence as a journalist in the northern Gaza Strip to convey the image is very important.
These initiatives include educating people about illnesses and injuries brought on by Israeli aggression, offering families in the GazaStrip medical advice, and preparing local cadres to handle emergency situations in spite of significant obstacles.
