The Ganga is the most sacred river to Hindus. It is also a lifeline to millions of Indians who live along its course and depend on it for their daily needs. It is worshipped as the goddess Ganga in Hinduism. It has also been important historically, with many former provincial or imperial capitals (such as Pataliputra,Kannauj,Kara, Kashi, Patna, Hajipur, Munger, Bhagalpur, Murshidabad, Baharampur, Kampilya, and Calcutta) located on its banks.
The Ganga was ranked as the fifth most polluted river of the world in 2007. Pollution threatens not only humans, but also more than 140 fish species, 90 amphibian species and the endangered Ganga river dolphin. The Ganga Action Plan, an environmental initiative to clean up the river, has been a major failure thus far, due to corruption, lack of technical expertise, poor environmental planning, and lack of support from religious authorities.
The Jamuna is a braided stream characterised by a network of interlacing channels with numerous sandbars enclosed in between them. The sandbars, known in the Bengali as chars do not, however, occupy a permanent position. The river deposits them in one year very often to destroy and redeposit them in the next rainy season. The process of deposition erosion and redeposition has been going on continuously making it difficult to precisely demarcate the boundary between the district of Pabna on one side and the district of MymensinghTangail and Dhaka on the other. Breaking of a char or the emergence of a new one is also a cause of much violence and litigation.
The epic journey to find the source of the Ganges reaches the temple of Gangotri - the place where Hindus believe that Ganges first appeared on Earth. The river here is already wide and very powerful and fed by one of the Himalayas' largest glaciers. To reach the farthest extremity of the river, the determined few journey even higher.

India Wants To Use Flesh Eating Turtles To Rid The Ganges Of Decomposing Bodies (HBO)
India’s Ganges river is the main source of water for half a billion people. It’s also holy to the country’s almost 1 billion Hindus, who bathe in the river to be cleansed of their sins and believe that if a body is cremated and released into the water at Varanasi it can escape the cycle of reincarnation.
But the river’s cleansing abilities are limited by the fact that the Ganges is one of the world’s most polluted waterways: A billion gallons of raw sewage and industrial waste currently pour into it every day.
The Indian government’s most recent initiative to tackle the pollution problem, Namami Gange, was announced in 2014 and promised $3 billion in funding. So far, it has yielded very few results, and a 2017 investigation concluded that just $205 million had been spent.

The Ganges is one of the world''s most revered rivers in the world, but also one of the dirtiest. This may sound like a paradox but consider that some of the pollution is from religious ceremonies. Add this to industrial waste, sewage and plastic. The river is still a lifeline for 500 million people. India is attempting to tackle the issue.

Still, the government has launched some pretty outlandish plans, including breeding thousands of flesh-eating turtles to deal with the 200 tons of half-cremated, decomposing bodies that enter the river at Varanasi every year, and commissioning an official pop anthem for the river to rouse patriotic sentiment.
With a growing scandal on its hands, Narendra Modi’s government is scrambling to finish planned Ganges projects before the 2019 general elections. But environmental scientist and campaigner Rakesh Jaiswal said he hasn’t seen any change so far. “The situation is worsening, and in the last 24 years I have seen no improvement at all,” he told VICE News.

Add this to industrial waste, sewage and plastic. The river is still a lifeline for 500 million people. India is attempting to tackle the issue.

"POLON" to próba wprowadzenia polskiego akcentu do brzmienia europejskiego hip-hopu i okiełznania niemal nieograniczonych możliwości dla dobra materiału - tak aby różnorodność pogodzić ze spójnością, brawurę ze real talkiem, a osiedlówę z wrażliwością. O sile oddziaływania najbardziej polskiego z pierwiastków przekonacie się odpalając jeden z najmocniejszych albumów ostatnich lat w polskim rapie. Nadchodzi POLON!

The Jamuna River is one of the three main rivers of Bangladesh. It is the lower stream of the Brahmaputra River, which originates in Tibet as Yarlung Tsangpo, before flowing into India and then southwest into Bangladesh. The Jamuna flows south and joins the Padma River (Pôdda), near Goalundo Ghat, before meeting the Meghna River near Chandpur. It then flows into the Bay of Bengal as the Meghna River.
