According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,190 square miles (3,100km2), of which 241 square miles (620km2) is land and 948 square miles (2,460km2) (80%) is water. It is the third-smallest county in Wisconsin by land area. It is watered by the Milwaukee, Menominee, and Root rivers. The surface is undulating, and the soil calcareous and fertile.
The Milwaukee Union Station was dedicated on August 3, 1965 by the Milwaukee Road to replace their previous Everett Street Depot. The Chicago and North Western Railroad closed their Milwaukee station (Lake Front Depot) and moved their passenger operations to the new Milwaukee Road depot in 1966. The depot was built on West St. Paul Avenue in a modernistic style that proved unpopular quickly after it was erected.
Milwaukee has a rich history of involvement in professional and sports, going back to the 19th century. Currently, its major sports teams include:
Throughout the sports world, Milwaukee is perhaps best known for its tradition of tailgating before Brewers baseball games. The Brewers made their first post-season appearance in 1981 and won the American League pennant in 1982. In 1998, they became the first Major League team in modern history to switch leagues, doing so to accommodate the expansion franchises of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. They also have the distinction of being the only team to have played in four of the six current Major League divisions.
The Bucks won the 1971 NBA Championship, a mere three years after joining the league. They made it back to the Finals in 1974, but soon developed a reputation as "next year's champions," winning at least one playoff series for the next 15 years, but having yet to return to the Finals.
Wisconsin's geography is diverse, with the Northern Highland and Western Upland along with a part of the Central Plain occupying the western part of the state and lowlands stretching to the shore of Lake Michigan. Wisconsin is second to Michigan in the length of its Great Lakes coastline.
Wisconsin is known as "America's Dairyland" because it is one of the nation's leading dairy producers, particularly famous for cheese. Manufacturing, especially paper products, information technology (IT), and tourism are also major contributors to the state's economy.
The commission to create the statue of Wisconsin on the top of the dome was originally promised to Helen Farnsworth Mears, originally of Wisconsin. When Daniel Chester French agreed to produce the finial figure, the commission was switched to him.
Description
This work, often referred to as the "Golden Lady", consists of an allegorical figure reminiscent of Athena, dressed in Greek garb, her right arm outstretched to symbolize the state motto, "Forward", and wearing a helmet topped by a badger, the Wisconsin state totem.
The figure's left hand holds a globe with an eagle perched on top. Across the eagle's chest is a large W, for Wisconsin, a detail hard to discern.
Wisconsin is 15ft 5in (4.70m) tall and weighs 3 short tons (2.7t).
The lady is also in a mural in the House of Representatives.
Wisconsin is the second album by the hardcore punk band The Crucifucks. The album is noted for having a more "mellow" sound compared to The Crucifucks debut, although its lyrics maintain a stridently anarchist political viewpoint.

For the final stop in this batch of stations we have Milwaukee Intermodal, the second most popular station in the midwest and 18th in the entire country. With the highest frequency service outside the NEC and California, it's easy to see why.
Opening August 3rd 1965, the station replaced the Everett St Station, which stood about a block to the north and served both the Milwaukee Road and Chicago Northwestern. In 2007 the facility underwent a massive renovation and expansion, adding a bus terminal, larger waiting area, and ADA compliance. Currently, it sees 7 Hiawathas a day between the city and Chicago, plus the Empire Builder from Chicago to Seattle. There's currently plans to add 3 more...

There's currently plans to add 3 more round trips to Chicago in the next few years, along with extending some of them to St Paul. The station lives up to its name, with both local (Blue line , 12, 31, 34, 57) and intercity (Amtrak Thruway, Badger Bus, Greyhound Lines, Indian Trails, Jefferson Lines, Lamers Bus Lines, Megabus, Tornado Bus Company, Wisconsin Coach Lines) bus connections, as well as a nearby streetcar stop and bike sharing services. There is a station agent, ticket kiosk, and checked baggage as well.
Anyway, we'll be back sometime next year! Probably for the Twin Cities Hiawatha start. I'd be back sooner but I have a day job and need money and the holidays are always nuts

Got it in under the wire. No reason it took longer, I just didn't start editing until this morning.
On February 21st 2023, Amtrak Empire Builder #8 was towing #7 eastbound to Chicago as #7 could not continue west of Glasgow Montana because of avalanche danger. Builder #7 had Amtrak ALC-42 Phase VII 309 and 314 which were to be transferred to be used on the Coast Starlight service. Builder #8 had ALC-42 Phase VI 304 on point.
The video was filmed in the Milwaukee Intermodal Station as the super train arrived in Milwaukee almost five hours late which allowed for the dramatic night video in the light snow storm. You can see as the train pulls in the distance a loaded ethanol train heading east to pass through the station where you see the engine in-between the Amtrak cars at the 2:38 mark.
The best way to enjoy the video is on your 4K TV in surround sound as the audio is mastered to fill your Dolby Atmos systems.
The video was filmed with a handheld Samsung S22 Ultra with the audio recorded in stereo on a Tascam DR-40X Linear PCM Recorder.

Welcome aboard Amtrak Hiawatha Service #334 with service to Chicago Union Station from Milwaukee Intermodal Station! Our stops along the way today will be Milwaukee General Mitchell International Airport, Sturtevant, and Glenview. Today our train is led by an ex-F40PH NPCU "Cabbage" #90221 cab-control unit painted in the unique veteran's livery, a red, white, and blue paint scheme that honors U.S. Military personnel for their service.
Amtrak's Hiawatha Service is the shortest route in the entire Amtrak system after the New Haven-Springfield shuttle's 2019 extension. The distance between both endpoints of the Hiawatha service is only 86 miles (138 km) and all trains take on average around 90 minutes to complete the journey, even when minor delays are included. The Hiawatha Service is currently Amtrak's 9th busiest route overall and the busiest route in the Midwestern United States. Amtrak's Empire Builder, a long-distance train that runs from Chicago to Seattle/Portland, also uses the same line as Hiawatha Service trains, although the Empire Builder does not permit local traffic between Chicago and Milwaukee and also does not stop at Sturtevant or Milwaukee Airport. The entire line that both the Hiawatha Service and the Empire Builder use from Chicago to Milwaukee is called the Chicago and Milwaukee (C&M) subdivision, and is owned and operated by the Canadian Pacific Railroad (CP) through their U.S. subsidiary the Soo Line Railroad. As a result, CP freight trains of all different kinds are a frequent sight along this route.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the journey!
