Trust (business)
A trust or corporate trust is an American English term for a large business with significant market power. It is often used in a historical sense to refer to monopolies or near-monopolies in the United States during the Second Industrial Revolution in the 19th century and early 20th century.
History
Originally, the corporate trust was a legal device used to consolidate power in large American corporate enterprises. In January 1882, Samuel C. T. Dodd, Standard Oil’s General Solicitor, conceived of the corporate trust to help John D. Rockefeller consolidate his control over the many acquisitions of Standard Oil, which was already the largest corporation in the world. The Standard Oil Trust was formed pursuant to a "trust agreement" in which the individual shareholders of many separate corporations agreed to convey their shares to the trust; it ended up entirely owning 14 corporations and also exercised majority control over 26 others. Nine individuals held trust certificates and acted as the trust's board of trustees. Of course, one of those trustees was Rockefeller himself, who held 41% of the trust certificates; the next most powerful trustee only held about 12%. This kind of arrangement became popular and soon had many imitators.

Stargate Program
The Stargate Program is a fictional special access program that plays a key role in the Stargate franchise: it surrounds the operations of the Stargate on Earth. The core of the Stargate Program is Stargate Command (SGC), based at the Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station near Colorado Springs, Colorado. During the run of Stargate SG-1, the NID is most critical of the Stargate Program, while the program is extended through the establishment of the Office of Homeworld Security/Homeworld Command and the International Oversight Advisory (IOA). The Atlantis Project as seen in Stargate Atlantis is part of the Stargate Program but works independently during season 1 of the show.
Despite alien attacks such as in "Lost City" and "Ex Deus Machina", all attempts are made throughout the series to keep the existence of the Stargate Program secret, assuming there would be mass panic if the public found out. Several alternate-universe episodes address the public reaction to the revelation of the Stargate Program. Nevertheless, some conspiracy theorists in the series assume extraterrestrial activity at the highest levels of the military. A very few select civilians such as Pete Shanahan and Jeannie Miller are also aware of the existence of the Program.

Violence: The Role-Playing Game of Egregious and Repulsive Bloodshed is a short, 32-page role-playing game written by Greg Costikyan under the pseudonym "Designer X" and published by Hogshead Publishing in 1999 as part of its New Style line of games.
Gameplay
Violence is a parody of conventional dungeon-bashing games, set in a contemporary metropolis where player characters dash from room to room killing the occupants and stealing their belongings. In a style reminiscent of Mad, it is relentlessly user-hostile, taking time out to insult the reader wherever possible (it opens with the words, "Welcome to Violence, you degraded turd") and uses a system where the user can buy experience points for cash from the designer or publisher. Despite innovative game design and exhaustive lists of equipment and weapons (including both belt and orbital sanders), monster types and possible scenarios, it is largely and deliberately unplayable because of an exhaustive rule-set. The rule-set provides information on a range of things related to killing. Weapons, combat styles, and the like are intricately detailed, considering the short length of the volume. Violence is a rant against the traditional styles of Dungeons & Dragons, MMORPGs, and the Grand Theft Auto series, written to simultaneously annoy, enrage and challenge the reader. As a game, it is of little value, but is useful as an insight into the mindset of its author and an indictment of an endemic style of role-playing.

Tear Out the Heart
Tear Out The Heart is a five-piece metalcore band from St. Louis, Missouri, founded in 2011. The band signed with Victory Records in 2012. and released their first full-length record, Violence, in 2013. They released their second full-length album, Dead, Everywhere, on January 27, 2015.
History
Tear Out The Heart self-released their first EP Tear Out The Heart in 2011, and their second EP Hell Is Empty in July 2012, just a month before announcing they had signed to Victory Records. Their debut album Violence was released on Victory Records in March 2013 and was received with predominantly positive reviews. Violence featured guest vocals from Caleb Shomo from Attack Attack! on the track "Undead Anthem", and Dan Marsala of Story Of The Year on the track "Coffin Eyes". Dory Khawand of Metal Temple, whom gave the album 8/10, stated:

As part of the joint TCD-UCD Public Sociology Lecture Series we were joined by Jan Philipp Reemtsma, professor of modern German literature at the University of Hamburg and founder and director of the Hamburg Institute of Social Research.
In his book Trust and Violence Jan Phillip Reemtsma argues that the idea that violence is abnormal is an illusion and that attempts to contain violence informed by this perspective are misguided. In order to understand violence and its place in modernity, he asserts, we must grasp its relationship to trust. Consensus about when and where violence is prohibited or sanctioned is an essential element of our concept of normality and the basis for trust. In his lecture, Reemtsma will examine the fuzzy concept of trust, how it relates to mistrust and confidence, and what occurs when trust—especially modernity's trust in its ability to allow only legitimate violence—is disappointed.
Of Reemtsma's many books on literature, history, politics, philosophy, and contemporary society, two have been published in English--More Than a Champion: The Style of Muhammad Ali (Vintage) and In the Cellar (Knopf).
This lecture was made possible with the cooperation with the UCD Centre for War Studies.
