Fly fishing is an angling method in which an artificial "fly" is used to catch fish. The fly is cast using a fly rod, reel, and specialized weighted line. I this video I went fly fishing with my buddies Allen and Micah in an attempt to catch some colored up native brook trout and we caught an awesome wild rainbow trout or two along the way!
So as you can see on this day of fishing the water was raging. Just to throw in a little context this fishing trip happened in the direct aftermath of Helene, which absolutely demolished the southern Appalachian Mountains. We were lucky up to be up far enough north that we didn’t get as much of the flooding, and honestly just got a bunch of much needed rain. But we were still dealing with high water. I was also fishing with my buddies Allen and Micah, who you’ll see throughout this video.

Incredible Fly Fishing for BIG Rainbow Trout in a Stunning River!!
The fly fishing, for big rainbow trout, in this backcountry river is pretty incredible. We sight fished for and landed a bunch of solid trout. Fly fishing with a dry dropper rig did most of the work but we did get a couple nymphing as well.
