Fish farming
Fish farming or pisciculture is the principal form of aquaculture, while other methods may fall under mariculture. Fish farming involves raising fish commercially in tanks or enclosures, usually for food. A facility that releases juvenile fish into the wild for recreational fishing or to supplement a species' natural numbers is generally referred to as a fish hatchery. Worldwide, the most important fish species used in fish farming are carp, tilapia, salmon, and catfish.
There is an increasing demand for fish and fish protein, which has resulted in widespread overfishing in wild fisheries, China holding 62 percent of the world's fish farming practice. Fish farming offers fish marketers another source. However, farming carnivorous fish, such as salmon, does not always reduce pressure on wild fisheries, since carnivorous farmed fish are usually fed fishmeal and fish oil extracted from wild forage fish. The global returns for fish farming recorded by the FAO in 2008 totalled 33.8 million tonnes worth about $US 60 billion. In 2005, aquaculture represented 40% of the 157.5 million tons of seafood that was produced, meaning that it has become a critical part of our world's food source even though the industry is still technically in its 'infancy' and didn't really become well known until the 1970s. Because of this rise in aquaculture, there has been a rise in the per capita availability of seafood globally within the last few decades.

Farm
A farm is an area of land that is devoted primarily to agricultural processes with the primary objective of producing food and other crops; it is the basic facility in food production. The name is used for specialised units such as arable farms, vegetable farms, fruit farms, dairy, pig and poultry farms, and land used for the production of natural fibres, biofuel and other commodities. It includes ranches, feedlots, orchards, plantations and estates, smallholdings and hobby farms, and includes the farmhouse and agricultural buildings as well as the land. In modern times the term has been extended so as to include such industrial operations as wind farms and fish farms, both of which can operate on land or sea.
Farming originated independently in different parts of the world as hunter gatherer societies transitioned to food production rather than food capture. It may have started about 12,000 years ago with the domestication of livestock in the Fertile Crescent in western Asia, soon to be followed by the cultivation of crops. Modern units tend to specialise in the crops or livestock best suited to the region, with their finished products being sold for the retail market or for further processing, with farm products being traded around the world.

Generic top-level domains (gTLDs) are one of the categories of top-level domains (TLDs) maintained by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) for use in the Domain Name System of the Internet. Farm (revenue leasing)
Farming is a technique of financial management, namely the process of commuting (changing), by its assignment by legal contract to a third party, a future uncertain revenue stream into fixed and certain periodic rents, in consideration for which commutation a discount in value received is suffered. It is most commonly used in the field of public finance where the state wishes to gain some certainty about its future taxation revenue for the purposes of medium-term budgetting of expenditure. The tax collection process requires considerable expenditure on administration and the yield is uncertain both as to amount and timing, as taxpayers delay or default on their assessed obligations, often the result of unforeseen external forces such as bad weather affecting harvests. Governments (the lessors) have thus frequently over history resorted to the services of an entrepreneurial financier (the tenant) to whom they lease or assign the right to collect and retain the whole of the tax revenue due to the state in return for his payment into the treasury of fixed sums (rent) in exchange.

Jasper Fish (buried 28 July 1791 at Sevenoaks, Kent) was a noted professional cricketer in the 18th century who was chiefly associated with Kent in the 1760s and 1770s.
Most of his career took place before cricket's statistical record began with regular scorecards in 1772 and he is recorded in only three major cricket matches in 1769, 1773 and 1777.

Fish physiology
Fish physiology is the scientific study of how the component parts of fish function together in the living fish. It can be contrasted with fish anatomy, which is the study of the form or morphology of fishes. In practice, fish anatomy and physiology complement each other, the former dealing with the structure of a fish, its organs or component parts and how they are put together, such as might be observed on the dissecting table or under the microscope, and the later dealing with how those components function together in the living fish.
Respiration
Most fish exchange gases using gills on either side of the pharynx (throat). Gills are tissues which consist of threadlike structures called filaments. These filaments have many functions and "are involved in ion and water transfer as well as oxygen, carbon dioxide, acid and ammonia exchange. Each filament contains a capillary network that provides a large surface area for exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide. Fish exchange gases by pulling oxygen-rich water through their mouths and pumping it over their gills. In some fish, capillary blood flows in the opposite direction to the water, causing countercurrent exchange. The gills push the oxygen-poor water out through openings in the sides of the pharynx.

By 2050, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations predicts that the world's population will reach 9.1 billion people. This is 34% more than it is today. To eliminate mass hunger, food supplies must grow at a faster pace, and world food production must increase by 70%. Current methods of fish farming will not be able to meet the global demand for fish safely and sustainably. In this video, we will tell you how the new largest and most complex fish farm in the world works, and whether similar technologies are able to provide us with food in the future. Wild fish stocks are declining at a rapid pace. The World Wildlife Fund estimates that 53% of the fishing grounds are fully developed, and the global fleet of fishing vessels is two to three times higher than the sustainable state of the world's seas and oceans. If we do not cut back fishing in the very near future, then all types of wild commercial fish could disappear by the middle of the century.

So what is a farm, exactly? A farm is an area of land used to grow crops and raise animals to produce food. The animals that live here are different from your average house pet. This is because farm animals usually have important jobs to do to keep the farm running. For instance, many farms have horses that help farmers prepare their crops.
One farm animal you're probably very familiar with is the cow. Cows are large and eat about 25 pounds of food per day. That's six to eight times as much as the average adult human! Most dairy farms have more than a thousand cows. These animals produce milk, that farmers can then sell to dairies that produce other dairy products like ice cream and cheese.
Chickens are another common farm animal. Some chickens can produce up to 300 eggs a year! Believe it or not, chickens didn't always live in America. But now there are more chickens in the U.S. than there are people! Another animal on the farm is the sheep. Farmers can sheer the sheep's wool once a year that they can then sell to companies that make clothing. Other farm animals include pigs, ducks, donkeys, and rabbits.

Did you know that aquaculture is the fastest-growing food production sector In the world? This is as a result of seafood being one of those rare types of food that is very useful to humans and at the same time easily scalable in production. With the help of innovative technologies, such as artificial intelligence and microscopic fungi, almost every country with access to the sea will be able to completely solve the issue of its own seafood shortage. And today we will look at exactly how advanced technologies will help feed the entire planet. People have been going to the sea for food since ancient times. In the last century, fishing has become so widespread that hundreds of marine life species have become endangered. Thus, according to The International Union for the Conservation of Nature, more than 90 species of fish, including sharks, rays, and other cartilaginous fish, are at risk in European waters alone. As Nicholas Dulvy, a marine ecologist at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, Canada, points out "There's been no effective movement on fisheries management in the Mediterranean in the last decade". To make matters worse, different countries have various fishing laws and what is prohibited in one country may easily be allowed in another. This results in fishing boats being able to catch even illegal fish species and simply sell them on another market.

After more than 20 years in the IT industry, Malcolm Ong turned his hand full time to aquaculture. Today, the founder of The Fish Farmer owns 4 sea-based farms, operating on traditional methods, producing about 1,000 tonnes of fish a year - milk fish, grey mullet, red snapper, barramundi (Asian sea bass), golden pomfret and sea perch.
But he faces a challenge: How to double production sustainably? To do this he has joined hands with scientists under the Singapore Food Agency's AquaPolis R&D programme. The goal for Malcolm is to develop superior fingerlings with faster growth rates, lower mortality from common fish diseases, and higher Omega-3 content.

By 2050, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations predicts that the world's population will reach 9.1 billion people. This is 34% more than it is today. To eliminate mass hunger, food supplies must grow at a faster pace, and world food production must increase by 70%. Current methods of fish farming will not be able to meet the global demand for fish safely and sustainably. In this video, we will tell you how the new largest and most complex fish farm in the world works, and whether similar technologies are able to provide us with food in the future. Wild fish stocks are declining at a rapid pace. The World Wildlife Fund estimates that 53% of the fishing grounds are fully developed, and the global fleet of fishing vessels is two to three times higher than the sustainable state of the world's seas and oceans. If we do not cut back fishing in the very near future, then all types of wild commercial fish could disappear by the middle of the century.

Fish farming
Fish farming or pisciculture is the principal form of aquaculture, while other methods may fall under mariculture. Fish farming involves raising fish commercially in tanks or enclosures, usually for food. A facility that releases juvenile fish into the wild for recreational fishing or to supplement a species' natural numbers is generally referred to as a fish hatchery. Worldwide, the most important fish species used in fish farming are carp, tilapia, salmon, and catfish.
There is an increasing demand for fish and fish protein, which has resulted in widespread overfishing in wild fisheries, China holding 62 percent of the world's fish farming practice. Fish farming offers fish marketers another source. However, farming carnivorous fish, such as salmon, does not always reduce pressure on wild fisheries, since carnivorous farmed fish are usually fed fishmeal and fish oil extracted from wild forage fish. The global returns for fish farming recorded by the FAO in 2008 totalled 33.8 million tonnes worth about $US 60 billion. In 2005, aquaculture represented 40% of the 157.5 million tons of seafood that was produced, meaning that it has become a critical part of our world's food source even though the industry is still technically in its 'infancy' and didn't really become well known until the 1970s. Because of this rise in aquaculture, there has been a rise in the per capita availability of seafood globally within the last few decades.

Have you ever visited a farm? Or perhaps you live on a farm! Farm Animals for Kids explores facts about some of the animals that live on farms and what they do. You might learn some fun facts along the way that you didn't know before! For instance, did you know
So what is a farm, exactly? A farm is an area of land used to grow crops and raise animals to produce food. The animals that live here are different from your average house pet. This is because farm animals usually have important jobs to do to keep the farm running. For instance, many farms have horses that help farmers prepare their crops.
One farm animal you're probably very familiar with is the cow. Cows are large and eat about 25 pounds of food per day. That's six to eight times as much as the average adult human! Most dairy farms have more than a thousand cows. These animals produce milk, that farmers can then sell to dairies that produce other dairy products like ice cream and cheese.
Chickens are another common farm animal. Some chickens can produce up to 300 eggs a year! Believe it or not, chickens didn't always live in America. But now there are more chickens in the U.S. than there are people! Another animal on the farm is the sheep. Farmers can sheer the sheep's wool once a year that they can then sell to companies that make clothing. Other farm animals include pigs, ducks, donkeys, and rabbits.

The aim of this video is to explain what gTLDs are, why you need as many as possible, the various phases of their release and the manner in which they can be purchased with 123-reg.
The acronym gTLD stands for generic Top Level Domain. To understand what one is, you need to know what a Top Level Domain is. Stemming from the early 2000s, the top level domain nomenclature comprises extensions such as .com, .org, .net or .au.
The existing TLDs are classified by ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) into several categories, among which the most known are:
• Generic (gTLD): .com; .net; .org;
• Country-Code (ccTLD): .au; .uk; .us;
• Sponsored (sTLDS): .tel; .mobi; .jobs;
• Infrastructure (iTLDs): .arpa;
• Reserved: .test; .example; .invalid;
Returning to gTLDs, they represent the most common type of Top Level Domains and 23 such extensions have been introduced into use since 2004. However, for a period of time, no new ones have been created. This, nevertheless, is about to change starting with 2014, as a new series of gTLDs will be released, triggering the opportunity for 1500 new extensions to be used on the Internet in the following years.
The necessity of introducing more gTLDs is owed to the continuous expansion of the information flow and businesses in the online environment. To keep up with the new requirements, new extensions need to be delivered. Their introduction implies a set of benefits, among which we mention:
- The simplification of domain names used for new or existing businesses and individuals (e.g. www.myexample-businesslondon.com can become www.examplebusiness.london);
- Increase of visibility through relevant extensions (such as .builder, .plumbing) prior to the actual accessing of your related site;
- Immediate identification of the locality of your business through extensions such as .london, helping visitors to gain related insight.
To obtain a gTLD, the principle of fist come -- first served is applied. The release of such domains depends on the type of the customer. There are four major phases of release with slight degrees of variations depending on the registry of each gTLD. These are:
• The Sunrise phase -- trademark owners and established businesses are enabled to safeguard their identity before the domain extensions become available to the general public;
• The landrush and early access stages -- refer to the period when higher value, shorter and memorable denominations for domains are put on sale at premium prices;
• The stage of general availability -- the point where the new gTLDs are taken by the first customer to request one at an advantageous price.
All of the above are preceded by a pre-order period, but it is important that the four phases to follow the mentioned order.
