The First Baptist Church in America is the First Baptist Church of Providence, Rhode Island, also known as First Baptist Meetinghouse. The oldest Baptist church congregation in the United States, it was founded by Roger Williams in Providence, Rhode Island in 1638. The present church building was erected in 1774–75 and held its first meetings in May 1775. Located at 75 North Main Street in Providence's College Hill neighborhood, it is a National Historic Landmark.
History
Roger Williams had been holding religious services in his home for nearly a year before he converted his congregation into a Baptist church in 1638. This followed his founding of Providence in 1636. For the next sixty years, the congregation met outside in nice weather or in congregants' homes. Baptists in Rhode Island through most of the 17th century declined to erect meetinghouses because they felt that buildings reflected vanity. Eventually, however, they came to see the utility of some gathering place, and they erected severely plain-style meetinghouses like the Quakers.
First Baptist Church, historically named Shiloh Baptist Church, is a historic church at 506 E. 8th Street in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The congregation was organized in 1866 as Shiloh Baptist Church by a group of men who had served as soldiers in the Union Army during the Civil War. Initially they worshiped in a blacksmith shop; subsequently they met for worship in members' homes.
Church Square is a city block in downtown Columbus, Georgia home to two churches: First Baptist Church of Columbus and St. Luke United Methodist Church. The block, located between 2nd and 3rd Avenues and 11th and 12th Streets, is significant because it is the only remaining square designated for church use by Edward Lloyd Thomas, who surveyed the area in 1828 and drew up the original city plan. The square was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 2, 1980.
History
The town of Columbus was established by an act of the Georgia legislature on December 24, 1827, one of only four cities in the state to be formed by government action. The area was surveyed by Edward Lloyd Thomas under the supervision of then-Georgia governorJohn Forsyth the following year. The city, which was to be located on the Chattahoochie River at Coweta Falls, was established to bring pioneers out to the western portion of the state, serving as an agricultural, industrial, and transportation hub, using the river as the source for all three of these operations. The 1828 plan included a rectangular grid of city blocks thirteen long and eight wide which encompassed the area bounded by what is now 17th Street, 10th Avenue, and the river, much of which is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Columbus Historic District. At several locations throughout the area were "squares" dedicated to civic, religious, and academic use, among them Church Square between 2nd and 3rd Avenues and 11th and 12 Streets. Of the squares designated for religious use, Church Square is the only one to still be used for that purpose at present.

LIVE: "Are We Living In The End Times?: What Events Will Signal The End Times?" | Nov 19 | 11am CT
Last time we discovered that technically we are not living in the “end times,” yet we are living in what the Bible calls “the last days” that immediately precede the end times. How will we, or future generations, know we are living in the “end times” that will climax with the Second Coming of Jesus Christ?

I grew up, here in America Where good people worked hard And everyone got along I thought things were fine, here in America But I was wrong It seems it's all black and white, here in America Either the color of money, or the color of your skin Used to know wrong from right, here in America And we will again We can all live together With Christ as Lord And us united in Him We will all live forever When the King of Kings comes again Through the eyes of our God, I see America With no black and white None in bondage or free Because Jesus is Lord, here in America And He'll always be- Oh yeah! We can all live together
