Coppa Europa 1968 finale Italia- jugoslavia sintesi e premiazione
Dopo il disastro dei mondiali del 1966 l' Italia organizza i campionati Europei ma prima deve qualificarsi, e ci riesce battendo Romania, Svizzera, e Cipro e dunque si giocano i quarti di finale con la Bulgaria e nella doppia partita si vince per 4 a 3. Finalmente arrivano le semifinali dove si gioca a Napoli e dove l' Italia ottiene un modesto 0 a 0 contro l' Unione Sovietica ma va comunque in finale grazie al sorteggio con una monetina neutrale cioè ne con le lire e ne con i rubli ma pare sia stata Canadese. Nella finalissima di Roma abbiamo di fronte la temibile Jugoslavia che alla fine ci impone il pareggio per 1 a 1, niente da fare bisogna ripeter la partita e questa volta si vince per 2 a 0 e siamo per la prima e unica volta campioni d' Europa

Lo sa bene anche il presidente della Juventus, Vittore Catella, che nel maggio 1968 telefona alla FIAT e ottiene una fornitura speciale di compressori marca Spreafico, da usare come merce di scambio con il cavalier Giovanni Borghi, il proprietario della Ignis, nota ditta di elettrodomestici che sta vivendo una fase di fortissima espansione e ha bisogno di compressori per aumentare la produzione dei frigoriferi.
Qual è il punto? Il punto è che il cavalier Borghi è anche il presidente del Varese, la squadra rivelazione del campionato 67-68, settimo classificato con il punto esclamativo di un clamoroso 5-0 a febbraio contro la Juventus, con tripletta di un centravanti siciliano di nemmeno vent'anni che ora è inseguito da tutte le squadre d'Italia. E come dirà Borghi, “alura ghel dem a la Juventus”: per 660 milioni di lire, più altri 400 milioni in compressori Spreafico, la Juve brucerà l'Inter che s'era illusa troppo presto di averlo comprato.
Per forza c'è bisogno di frigoriferi: sta per iniziare un'estate molto calda. In cui stanno cambiando tante cose: la Grande Inter si è sciolta al sole di Lisbona, la Juventus non ha dato continuità allo scudetto dell'anno prima, mentre è tornato su un Milan di vecchi pirati guidato da Nereo Rocco e dal centro-Sud sta arrivando una corrente di aria fresca da Napoli, da Firenze, da Cagliari. Sta cambiando tutto, non solo nel calcio. Per forza: siamo nella primavera/estate del 1968.

Dopo il disastro dei mondiali del 1966 l' Italia organizza i campionati Europei ma prima deve qualificarsi, e ci riesce battendo Romania, Svizzera, e Cipro e dunque si giocano i quarti di finale con la Bulgaria e nella doppia partita si vince per 4 a 3. Finalmente arrivano le semifinali dove si gioca a Napoli e dove l' Italia ottiene un modesto 0 a 0 contro l' Unione Sovietica ma va comunque in finale grazie al sorteggio con una monetina neutrale cioè ne con le lire e ne con i rubli ma pare sia stata Canadese. Nella finalissima di Roma abbiamo di fronte la temibile Jugoslavia che alla fine ci impone il pareggio per 1 a 1, niente da fare bisogna ripeter la partita e questa volta si vince per 2 a 0 e siamo per la prima e unica volta campioni d' Europa
