Mabel - Definition (Lyrics)
Shoulda known I’m the one
Shoulda known I’m a wonder
Cos he had no clue I’d do it like that
Don’t be so surprised, when I put it on ya
Cos it’s about the time you met your match
You been looking in the wrong places
Kissing all the wrong faces
And you need you a girl who does it right, mmm
I embody that good feeling
Show you the true meaning
So if you need someone to blow your mind
Look at me cos I’m the definition of a good girl, bad bitch
Nothing like your average
Something like a savage
Look no further I’m the definition of legendary
Extraordinary, check your dictionary
You’ll see me cos I’m the definition of a boss
No cap I’m a dime piece
Top top tier baby realise
I know what I want
And I know what I need
So it ain’t too hard to verbalise
You been looking in the wrong places
Kissing all the wrong faces
And you need you a girl who does it right, mmm
I embody that good feeling

"Take elements of psychedelia, jazz, folk, dixieland, science, and science fiction, and combine them into a perfect one-shot slab of vinyl, and you have this album. Definition is one of the most musically accomplished, adventurous, and literate records ever released!
In lesser hands, this amalgamation of such disparate elements could render a product that is patently unlistenable, but group frontman J. Spider Barbour more than lives up to his name. He weaves a complex web guaranteed to ensnare the listener. From the amazing high-speed piano runs of "What Will Become of the Morning?", to the poetic lyricism of "Lake Hope", to the playfulness of "Baby, Let Me Show You Where I Live", there's not a single wasted moment, even when logic and reason dictate that there should be. After all, what other album wouldn't sink under the weight of Barbour's winged insect fixation?
It shouldn't work! It should flop! It should result in nothing but howls of derisive laughter! But, somehow, Barbour is able to show you creatures that you've probably never regarded as anything but "creepy", through his eyes. The small, buzzing subject of the song "Lacewing" becomes a character so sympathetic as to almost bring a tear to one's eye. This is an album of extremes, but doesn't strike the listener as an extreme album.
It's a "hippie" album in the sense that it views the previous generation as ether hopelessly confused ("Father's Getting Old") or irredeemably bitter ("Fitzpatrick Swanson"), but doesn't pander to a messy, two-chord, hippie, stoner stereotype (as heard in the ragtime-based "30 Poplar"). It has a density (witness the lyrical content of "Cynthia Gerome", the story of a femme-fatale who has suddenly lost the magic), but isn't impenetrable in the way that, say, some of Zappa's works are. It's an album that flows along leisurely for half an hour, and then decides to take on the concept of the end of the world ("Dr. Root's Garden", which seems to be the basis for a concept album that never was, but should have been).
There are some in the rock cognoscenti who refuse to believe that anything can approach the Sgt. Pepper - Doors - Surrealistc Pillow trinity. Do yourself a favor and listen to this album before you listen to them! For my money, this beats all three. Now that the album has been reissued on CD by Rev-Ola (with eight bonus tracks to boot), everyone can hear for themselves without paying "collectors' market" coin. Delicate, intricate, and just flat-out amazing, this is one definition you won't forget."

Black Star arose from the underground movement of the late 1990s, which was in large part due to Rawkus Records, an independent record label stationed in New York City. They released one self titled album. Though the record achieved little commercial success, they (and other members of the Native Tongues Posse) helped shape underground alternative rap and helped bring it further into the mainstream eye. Both have gone on to greater commercial and critical success in separate solo careers.
Black Star's emergence into the hip-hop scene came at a crucial point in music history. Following the deaths of both Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur, hip-hop was consumed in a world of chaos. Black Star attempted to bring reconciliation in the wake of these violent deaths. The self titled album contains various references to Biggie and Tupac, and attempts to create reconciliation in the hip-hop world: "I said one, two, three. It's kinda dangerous to be an M.C. They shot Tupac and Biggie. Too much violence in hip-hop."
In 2001, Black Star performed "Money Jungle" with Ron Carter and John Patton for the Red Hot Organization's compilation album Red Hot + Indigo, a tribute to Duke Ellington, which raised money for various charities devoted to increasing AIDS awareness and fighting the disease. In 2005, hip hop website TheSituation.co.uk reported Kweli has said that a new Black Star album was "in the pipeline".[1] On Talib Kweli's Myspace he posted up a video saying that "We're going to find Mos Def and put it on camera that there will be a second Black Star album." In 2006, Mos and Kweli appeared together in the movie Dave Chappelle's Block Party, alongside Erykah Badu, Common, Jill Scott, Dead Prez and The Fugees, among others. They even contributed a new song, "Born & Raised", to the movie's soundtrack.
The first new Black Star song was leaked via DJ J Rocc from Stones Throw Records. The song is produced by Madlib and is titled "Fix Up". On October 5th 2011 they appeared on the Colbert Report and performed it for the first time.

ABOUT
In mid 2008, Violent Definition were formed by Nick P. on guitars (Vultur, ex-V8 Carburetor, ex-Crucifier) and Nick G. on drums (ex-Crucifier) and after a while they teamed up with George B."IronBeast" on vocs
(Mentally Defiled, Antidrasi).
Since then we've started to rehearse a couple of songs to play live and also for an upcoming demo. The line-up was completed in 2009, where Kostas P. (ex-Released Anger) has joined V.D. on bass.
In 2010 was recorded and released our first demo that contained 2 tracks and became sold-out within a few days. Also our first (and last 'til recently) gig took place at Thessaloniki in the same year at the first Sparks
On Fuel Festival with Dimitris C. (Released Anger) behind the drumkit.
Later on, the band paused for various circumstances until the interest was lost. Although Nick P. and Ironbeast continued here and there to keep the band's spirit alive, having both only remained from the original line-
up.
In 2013 we began recording our first full length album, while unable to find any new members for rehearsals.
Current news for 2017 is that the album is finished and it would be ready for release (2018 for sure) under the title "Life Sentence"!
On top of that, we're locked and loaded with two new beasts, John "Maelstrom" on drums (Embrace Of Thorns, Mentally Defiled, Fadom etc) and George "Wolf" on bass (Ectoplasma, Vultur) while also rehearsing and
writing some new material.
