The show achieved a spot in the Nielsen Top 30 for four of its six seasons.TV Guide named the show one of the 20 best of the 1980s. After only six episodes aired, The Wonder Years won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 1988. In addition, at age 13, Fred Savage became the youngest actor ever nominated as Outstanding Lead Actor for a Comedy Series. Production
Conception
The series was conceived by writers Neal Marlens and Carol Black. They set out to create a family show that would appeal to the baby-boomer generation by setting the series in the late 60s, a time of radical change in America's history. They also wanted the series to tie this setting in to the life of a normal boy growing up during the period. After writing the script for the pilot episode, Marlens and Black began shopping the series to television networks. None of them were interested, except for ABC, with whom Marlens and Black reached an agreement. This show is one of the last of the family oriented comedy shows produced while at the same time the family was somewhat dysfunctional. Some described the show as a rough-around-the-edges version of Leave It To Beaver.
The Wonder Years: Music from the Emmy Award-Winning Show & Its Era
The Wonder Years: Music From the Emmy Award-Winning Show & Its Era is a soundtrack album to the TV series The Wonder Years. This album, released in 1989, contains seven modern cover songs rather than simply original music from the series, which earned it many unfavorable reviews.
The fifth season of The Wonder Years aired on ABC from October 2, 1991 to May 13, 1992. In this season many changes were made to the show. For example, Kevin and Paul go to a new school and Kevin gets a deeper voice.
The Wonder Years is an American pop punk band from Lansdale, Pennsylvania that formed in July 2005. Since their conception, they have released five full-length albums, two EPs, and several splits/compilations. The group is currently signed to Hopeless Records. Their name originates from a paper that lead vocalist, Dan 'Soupy' Campbell, read that was written by one of his after-school educators titled "The Wonder Years."
History
Formation, the early years (2005–06)
The Wonder Years were born in 2005 out of the remnants of an old Lansdale, PA band called The Premier. The Premier consisted of Dan "Soupy" Campbell, Matt Brasch, Nick Steinborn, Matt Hittinger, Dave and CJ Morgan. Dave, CJ, and Matt didn't join The Wonder Years. Their first practice was in Mike Kennedy's basement on July 5, 2005. On that day they wrote their first song, "Buzz Aldrin: The Poster Boy for Second Place".
In their first two years, two relatively unknown split EPs with other local bands were released. Their first (with Emergency and I) was released in 2005, featuring three songs. Two of those were later re-recorded on their first full-length album Get Stoked on It!. ("I Fell in Love with a Ninja Master" and "Buzz Aldrin: The Poster Boy for Second Place"). The other song on the split was "Cowboy Killers".

Working all day for a mean little man With a clip-on tie and a rub-on tan He's got me running 'round the office like a dog around a track But when I get back home, You're always there to rub my back Hey Julie, Look what they're doing to me Trying to trip me up Trying to wear me down Julie, I swear, it's so hard to bear it And I'd never make it through without you around And I'd never make it through without you around Hours on the phone making pointless calls I got a desk full of papers that means nothing at all Sometimes I catch myself staring into space Counting down the hours 'til I get to see your face Hey Julie, Look what they're doing to me Trying to trip me up Trying to wear me down Julie, I swear, it's so hard to bear it And I'd never make it through without you around No, I'd never make it through without you around How did it come to be That you and I must be Far away from each other every day? Why must I spend my time Filling up my mind With facts and figures that never add up anyway? They never add up anyway Working all day for a mean little guy With a bad toupee and a soup-stained tie He's got me running 'round the office Like a gerbil on a wheel He can tell me what to do But he can't tell me what to feel Hey Julie, Look what they're doing to me Trying to trip me up Trying to wear me down Julie, I swear, it's so hard to bear it And I'd never make it through without you around No, I'd never make it through without you around
