Eclipse is a mod for the video gameHalf-Life 2. It is a fantasy-themed action-adventure viewed in third-person. Eclipse was developed by CelTech Studios, a group of students from The Guildhall at SMU and released June 17, 2005.
Storyline
Eclipse is a third-person total conversion of Valve's Half-Life 2. Eclipse is an action/adventure game featuring puzzles and combat. The player plays a character named Violet, a young sorceress with telekinetic abilities. This ability allows Violet to pick up and throw objects; this is what the player uses to fight. Violet eventually learns new abilities like Hellstorm, an ability to summon up to three "Fairy Orbs" which can cause significant damage.
Critical reaction
Eclipse received the ModDB 2005 Editor's Choice award for released mods from Mod DB. ModDB highlighted an interesting telekinesis-based combat, gorgeous visuals, excellent level design, and original soundtrack.
Eclipse is the fourth album by extreme metal band Veil of Maya. It was released on February 28, 2012 and is the band's shortest album to date, clocking in at only 28 minutes. Eclipse was co-written and produced by Misha "Bulb" Mansoor, who is the guitarist of the Maryland-based metal band Periphery. It is the first record by the band to feature bassist Danny Hauser and the last with vocalist Brandon Butler.
Culture references
The song title "Winter Is Coming Soon" is a reference to the television series Game of Thrones.
The track "Punisher" has gained notoriety on the Internet due to a sample which was placed within the song at 2:03, of which is an excerpt of audio taken from a YouTube video of a young man criticizing djent and the band Periphery, in which album producer Misha Mansoor plays guitar.
Inspiration
A paragraph inside the physical version of the album talks about the inspiration of Eclipse. According to it, the band met a woman while touring in Italy who was blind throughout half of her life, and had her vision restored by staring directly into a solar eclipse. The paragraph goes on to say that "there is much more to the magnitude and magnificence of a solar eclipse than meets the eye." Guitarist Marc Okubo has also talked in a Guitar Messenger interview about this story as the underlying theme of the album.
Before Takemitsu started to compose Eclipse, he was reticent to use Japanese traditional instruments, because, as he puts it, their sound "always recalled the bitter memories of war". He started to use these instruments in 1962 Masaki Kobayashi's Harakiri. Since this first collaboration, Takemitsu started using these instruments more often, as seen in Shinoda's Assassination and Masaki Kobayashi's Kwaidan. He finally composed Eclipse in 1966 and premiered it that same year with Kinshi Tsuruta at the biwa abd Katsuya Yokoyama at the shakuhachi. Kinshi Tsuruta, and the shakuhachi player, Katsuya Yokoyama. The premiere took place in the Nissei Theater, in Tokyo, on May 4, 1966. It was eventually published by Éditions Salabert and has received a catalogue number W43 by James Siddons.
When Seiji Ozawa played Leonard Bernstein a tape of Eclipse, Bernstein suggested combining the instruments in a composition with the western orchestra. From this recommendation, Takemitsu eventually composed November Steps, to which this composition is strongly associated. This composition was originally performed by the same biwa and shakuhachi performers and, therefore, Eclipse is regarded as a forerunner to November Steps.

Definitions
There are at least two equivalent formal definitions of quasigroup. One defines a quasigroup as a set with one binary operation, and the other, from universal algebra, defines a quasigroup as having three primitive operations. We begin with the first definition.
A quasigroup(Q, ∗) is a set, Q, with a binary operation, ∗, (that is, a magma), obeying the Latin square property. This states that, for each a and b in Q, there exist unique elements x and y in Q such that both
a ∗ x = b
y ∗ a = b
hold. (In other words: Each element of the set occurs exactly once in each row and exactly once in each column of the quasigroup's multiplication table, or Cayley table. This property ensures that the Cayley table of a finite quasigroup is a Latin square.)
The band went through several lineup changes, with frontman Robert Hampson being the only permanent band member. They split in 1991, with the 1989–90 lineup of Hampson, John Wills, Scott Dawson and Neil Mackay reforming in 2013 for a series of gigs. In November 2014, Hampson unveiled a new lineup of the band with himself as the sole original band member.
Career
Loop were formed in 1986 by Robert Hampson (vocals, guitar), with his then-girlfriend Becky Stewart on drums. Bex was later replaced by John Wills (The Servants) and Glen Ray, with James Endeacott on guitar. Initially releasing records on Jeff Barrett's Head label, their first release was 1987's '16 Dreams', with debut album Heaven's End following later that year. The band was then signed up by Chapter 22 Records.
Loop returned with a more polished sound with the 'Collision' single in 1988. A second album Fade Out followed in 1989, reaching No.51 on the UK album chart. Endeacott left the band in 1988, Scott Dowson joined the following year. They changed labels again to Beggars Banquet subsidiary Situation Two, releasing the 'Arc-Lite' single in 1989 and the third and final studio album A Gilded Eternity in 1990.
The Loop or Darss Canal (Darßer Kanal) was an inlet of the sea between the lagoon known as the Saaler Bodden and the Baltic Sea near Ahrenshoop on the German coast. It formed the northern boundary of the region of Fischland. Originally the Loop was the northern estuarine branch of the River Recknitz.
The old inlet ran between the present villages of Ahrenshoop and Althagen. The Loop was roughly two metres deep and had posts for mooring boats and barges. Its navigability was frequently curtailed by storms and silting up. Today only a small ditch remains on the former Mecklenburg-Pomeranian border, which runs alongside a main road, the so-called Grenzweg ("border way").
The cartographer and court astronomer at the Mecklenburg court, Tilemann Stella, described the Loop thus: "Between the village of Oldenhagen [Althagen] and the Arnshope [Ahrenshoop], the waters of the Ribnitz river and lake break through into the salty sea. Beyond the beach is a large pile of rock and bricks at the place by the beach; that was the customs post, located 3 or 4 ruthen [50 metres] into the salty sea. Beyond that, forty or fifty posts stood in the salt sea, at the end of which was a large pile of rocks on which the fort stood."
