Some maps label the section of the expressway from Seputeh Interchange to Salak South Expressway as a part of the Federal Highway Route (FHR2), but the appellation is incorrect as the East–West Link Expressway was acquired by ANIH Berhad(formerly known as Metramac Corporation Sdn Bhd (MetaCorp)) and not by the PLUS Malaysia Berhad which maintains most parts of the Federal Highway. In 2007, the expressway was coded as together with the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway.
Route background
The Kilometre Zero of the expressway begins at Seputeh Interchange.
History
The construction of the East–West Link Expressway started in 1993 and was completed in 1995. The expressway was opened on 17 August 1995. On 17 May 2011, the toll collections of the expressway from Salak Interchange to Taman Connaught Interchange was abolished.
The (northern) East-West Link (Dutch: Oost-Westverbinding) is a road in Suriname between Albina in the eastern part of the country to Nieuw Nickerie in the western part, via the capital city of Paramaribo. The southern East-West Link connects Paramaribo with Apoera via Bitagron. Construction of the road link started in the 1960s.
The bridge spanning the Saramacca River between Hamburg and Uitkijk was opened on 25 June 2011.
Reconstruction
The road is in a bad state on several parts of the route, partly due to damage because of the Suriname Guerrilla War. Various revitalization projects have been started.
The East West Link is a proposed 18-kilometre tollway in Melbourne, Australia, to connect the Eastern Freeway at Clifton Hill with the Western Ring Road at Sunshine West. The Napthine Coalition Government signed a $5.3 billion contract with the East West Connect consortium in September 2014 to build the road, as the first stage of the project was due for completion by 2019-2020. A change in government at the November 2014 state election led to the project's cancellation, though it remains a part of long-term state road planning.
The project's $6 billion first stage was planned as a 4.4km tunnel from Hoddle Street, Clifton Hill to CityLink at Parkville. Work on the second stage, the western section between Parkville and the Western Ring Road, was expected to commence in late 2015 and be completed by 2023. The project's total cost was estimated at $15 billion to $17 billion.
The road project was proposed in 1999 by then PremierJeff Kennett, but gained prominence when it became one of the chief recommendations of the 2008 East-West Link Needs Assessment report, which warned that steady growth in port freight and population growth was rapidly taking Melbourne roads to capacity. The report's author, Sir Rod Eddington, said an alternative river crossing was also imperative to lessen the city's dependence on the West Gate Bridge, while an additional east-west link was needed to the city's north because of capacity constraints on the congested Monash-CityLink-West Gate corridor. Eddington said the benefits for the city included relieving congestion on Hoddle Street, reducing east-west rat running through suburban streets, assisting north-south traffic flows including public transport, and improving accessibility to city jobs for western suburbs residents.
The Blanche Marie Falls is one of the largest waterfalls of Suriname. The falls are located on the Nickerie River. The Blanche Marie Falls were discovered in 1897 by Corstiaan van Drimmelen, who was district commissioner of Nickerie at the time. Van Drimmelen named the falls after his wife. The falls are a popular tourist destination and can be reached by car via the Southern East-West Link.

Why Guyana, Suriname & Belize Part of the Caribbean?
Though Guyana, Suriname, and Belize are geographically located in South and Central America respectively, they are all considered to be Caribbean countries. Buy why?
Guyana in South America borders Venezuela, Suriname, and Brazil, and Suriname similarly borders Brazil, Guyana, and French Guiana, a French territory. It is even a more extreme case for Belize, which shares its border with only Mexico and Guatemala, and is surrounded by only Spanish-speaking countries.
So why are these countries often grouped together with the Caribbean? And what makes a region the Caribbean begin to begin with? Let’s now tackle this question.

The African Identity of Suriname
The Afro-Surinamese are the dominant people group in the South American nation of Suriname.
In official records, the Afro-Surinamese are split into 2 distinct groups.
So-called Creole and Marroons. Both are descendants of enslaved West and Central Africans.
In this video, I will give a more concise link of their language and culture to the peoples still living in Africa today. While showcasing the impact of the Dutch and British colonialist.

At the World Cup in Doha, the Dutch national team was captained by the Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk, while much of their tactical acumen comes from assistant manager Edgar Davids.
Van Dijk and Davids, along with many others at the World Cup may have represented a different nation altogether - Suriname.
This is the story of how the tiny nation of Suriname produces so many world-class players. Told by Adam Crafton, illustrated by Craig Silcock.
