Edward Burnett Tylor
Sir Edward Burnett Tylor (2 October 1832 – 2 January 1917) was an English anthropologist, the founder of cultural anthropology.
Tylor is representative of cultural evolutionism. In his works Primitive Culture and Anthropology, he defined the context of the scientific study of anthropology, based on the evolutionary theories of Charles Lyell. He believed that there was a functional basis for the development of society and religion, which he determined was universal. Tylor is considered by many to be a founding figure of the science of social anthropology, and his scholarly works helped to build the discipline of anthropology in the nineteenth century. He believed that "research into the history and prehistory of man... could be used as a basis for the reform of British society."
Tylor reintroduced the term animism (faith in the individual soul or anima of all things, and natural manifestations) into common use. He considered animism to be the first phase of development of religions.

Haplogroup E-M215 (Y-DNA)
In human genetics, Y Haplogroup E-M215, also referred to in the literature by other names such as E1b1b and E3b (see further discussion below), is a major Y-chromosome haplogroup. It is a division of the macro haplogroup E-M96, which is defined by the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) mutation M215. In other words, it is one of the major paternal lines of humanity, linking from father-to-son back to a common male-line ancestor. It is a subject of discussion and study in genetics as well as genetic genealogy, archaeology, and historical linguistics.
E-M215 has two ancient branches that contain all known modern E-M215 men, E-M35 and E-M281. Of these two, the only branch that has been confirmed in a native population outside of Ethiopia is E-M35, which in turn has two known branches, E-V68, E-Z827 which contain by far the majority of all modern E-M215 men. E-V68 and E-V257 have been found in highest numbers in North Africa and the Horn of Africa; but also in lower numbers in parts of the Middle East and Europe, and in isolated populations of Southern Africa.

Isobutane
Isobutane (i-butane), also known as methylpropane, is a chemical compound with molecular formula C
4H
10 and is an isomer of butane. It is the simplest alkane with a tertiary carbon. Concerns with depletion of the ozone layer by freon gases have led to increased use of isobutane as a gas for refrigeration systems, especially in domestic refrigerators and freezers, and as a propellant in aerosol sprays. When used as a refrigerant or a propellant, isobutane is also known as R-600a. Some portable camp stoves use a mixture of isobutane with propane, usually 80:20. Isobutane is used as a feedstock in the petrochemical industry, for example in the synthesis of isooctane.
Nomenclature
Isobutane is the trivial name retained by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) in its 1993 Recommendations for the Nomenclature of Organic Chemistry. Since the longest continuous chain in isobutane contains only three carbon atoms, the full systematic name is 2-methylpropane but the locant (2-) is typically omitted as redundant; C2 is the only position on a propane chain where a methyl substituent can be located without altering the main chain and forming the constitutional isomer n-butane.

19th Century Anthropologist Edward Burnett Tylor developed “unilineal cultural evolution”—a theory implying that cultures evolve from simple to complex forms. Unfortunately, some “Primitive” cultures could be considered “stuck” and unable to evolve.
Tylor believed that all of our cultural innovations, not only firearms, but also science, mathematics, and even religion, evolved. But in their evolution, some cultural practices, like shaking hands or saying “Bless you,” were carried into the present, even though many of their original meanings have been lost; shaking hands originally was a way to show that we came in peace and didn’t have any weapons; and we used to say “God Bless you,” because of an old belief that it was the soul trying to escape. For Tylor, cultural survivals like these proved that all cultures evolved from older “primitive” forms that look similar to what we see all over the world today. This idea that some contemporary cultures depict an evolutionary stage that ALL cultures evolved from is called uniformitarianism—which is a term borrowed from the natural sciences.
Tylor’s research focused mainly on religion. Being born into a British Quaker family, Tylor developed agnostic beliefs that led him to see religion as just another cultural and intellectual system. This is seen in his first book which is based off his observations from when he accompanied an archaeologist through Mexico. Here, Tylor (1861, 126) describes how a lot of the instability and poverty there was born out of the “doleful ignorance” that the Catholic Church perpetuated, especially as priests, who Tylor claimed concealed their own ignorance with fake wisdom and long words, had a monopoly on the educational system.
In some ways, Tylor rejected racism because his “uniformitarianism” argued that all human minds are similar, and so we can look at other humans to see older stages of culture. In his two-volume series Primitive Culture, Tylor outlines all his ideas, as well as giving what’s considered to be the first real definition of culture as: “that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, law, morals, custom and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society.”
Later anthropologists, like Franz Boas, would reject “evolution” as a proper theory altogether because it assumes way too much. Instead, Boas would argue that we need to understand the specific cultural contexts that cultures developed, and a large part of this is rooted in history.

How Do Cultures Evolve? - Anthropological Theory – Edward Burnett Tylor
19th Century Anthropologist Edward Burnett Tylor developed “unilineal cultural evolution”—a theory implying that cultures evolve from simple to complex forms. Unfortunately, some “Primitive” cultures could be considered “stuck” and unable to evolve.
Tylor believed that all of our cultural innovations, not only firearms, but also science, mathematics, and even religion, evolved. But in their evolution, some cultural practices, like shaking hands or saying “Bless you,” were carried into the present, even though many of their original meanings have been lost; shaking hands originally was a way to show that we came in peace and didn’t have any weapons; and we used to say “God Bless you,” because of an old belief that it was the soul trying to escape. For Tylor, cultural survivals like these proved that all cultures evolved from older “primitive” forms that look similar to what we see all over the world today. This idea that some contemporary cultures depict an evolutionary stage that ALL cultures evolved from is called uniformitarianism—which is a term borrowed from the natural sciences.
Tylor’s research focused mainly on religion. Being born into a British Quaker family, Tylor developed agnostic beliefs that led him to see religion as just another cultural and intellectual system. This is seen in his first book which is based off his observations from when he accompanied an archaeologist through Mexico. Here, Tylor (1861, 126) describes how a lot of the instability and poverty there was born out of the “doleful ignorance” that the Catholic Church perpetuated, especially as priests, who Tylor claimed concealed their own ignorance with fake wisdom and long words, had a monopoly on the educational system.
In some ways, Tylor rejected racism because his “uniformitarianism” argued that all human minds are similar, and so we can look at other humans to see older stages of culture. In his two-volume series Primitive Culture, Tylor outlines all his ideas, as well as giving what’s considered to be the first real definition of culture as: “that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, law, morals, custom and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society.”
Later anthropologists, like Franz Boas, would reject “evolution” as a proper theory altogether because it assumes way too much. Instead, Boas would argue that we need to understand the specific cultural contexts that cultures developed, and a large part of this is rooted in history.

The essence of Tylor’s evolutionary theory:-
He looked at cultural history as starting from primitive existence and advancing to the peak of civilization and it progressed stage by stage. The role of anthropologists is to discover that cultural history and understanding laws that regulate progress, hence understanding the culture.
He used the comparative method to chalk out the following evolutionary scheme:-
