The World In 2050, The Real Future Of Earth (BBC & Nat Geo Documentaries)
Can you imagine our world in 2050? Can you imagine the earth in 2050? Can you imagine people in 2050? Do you want to know the future of earth? By mid-century there will likely be 9 billion people on the planet, consuming ever more resources and leading ever more technologically complex lives. What will our cities be like? How will we eat in the future of Earth? Will global warming trigger catastrophic changes, or will we be able to engineer our way out of the world climate crisis?
In the future world demographic changes will certainly be dramatic. Rockefeller University mathematical biologist Joel Cohen says it's likely that by 2050 the majority of the people in the world will live in urban areas of the earth, and will have a significantly higher average age than people today.
We generally publish: BBC Documentaries HD, History Channel Documentaries, National Geographic and Discovery Channel Documentaries.

From the end of the Roman occupation through the Anglo-Saxon and Viking invasions - a new way of testing DNA in ancient bones could force a rethink of key moments in Britain's early history, say researchers.
Scientists could already track big alterations in DNA that occur over thousands or millions of years, helping us learn, for example, how early humans evolved from ape-like creatures.
Now researchers can identify subtler changes over just hundreds of years, providing clues as to how people migrated and interacted with locals.
They are using the new method to analyse human remains found in Britain, including from the time when Romans were replaced by an Anglo-Saxon elite from Europe.
Prof Peter Heather, from Kings College London, who is working on the project with the developers of the new DNA technique at the Francis Crick Institute in London, said the new technique could be "revolutionary".
While the project will analyse the DNA of more than 1,000 ancient human remains of people who lived in Britain during the past 4,500 years, researchers have homed in on the time after the Romans left as a particularly interesting era to study.
What happened in this period more than 1,500 years ago is unclear from written and archeological records. Historians are divided in their views about the scale and nature of the Anglo-Saxon invasion, whether it was large or small, hostile or co-operative.
"It is one of the most contested and therefore one of the most exciting things to work on in the whole of British history," according to Prof Heather.
"[The new method] will allow us to see the type of relations that are being found with the native population," he said. "Are they co-operative, is there interbreeding, are the locals able to make their way into the elite?"

(HD) Shanice Wilson's Vocal Showcase - Discovery: E♭3 - E♭6 (Debut Studio Album, 1987)
In English:
Discovery is the first studio album by singer Shanice Wilson, famous for using the registry Whistle in the United States, as well as Debelah Morgan, Chanté Moore, Mariah Carey and the late Minnie Riperton. Their first album is simply stunning. She arrived in Music making noise and calling attention to itself. Notes towering in Chest Voice with Beltings that are strongly linked to Patti LaBelle. No doubt, a great singer from the beginning of his career.

JYF Cribs | The Discovery
Join Ashley, one of our ships’ crew, as she introduces the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation’s replica ship Discovery. This replica Discovery was built in Boothbay Harbor Shipyard in Maine in 2006 and delivered to the Foundation in 2007 for the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown.
The Discovery was the smallest of the three vessels that set sail for Virginia in December 1606, having a cargo capacity of 20 tun, compared to Godspeed’s 40 tun and Susan Constant’s 120 tun. Discovery was purchased by the Virginia Company and intended to stay and serve the colonists in the waterways of Virginia, while the Susan Constant and Godspeed returned to England. Often overlooked, a fourth vessel – a shallop – was also brought for service in Virginia as well, which was packed on one of the ships a...

DISCOVERY -THE SHIP THAT TOOK THE FIRST EUROPEANS TO AMERICA .
It's not everyday you find a ship so far from water, but to find one among the trees that has such a huge world history is amazing.
The Discovery was one of three ships that took the first English-speaking colony to America in 1606. Commissioned by the East India Company and launched in 1602, the Discovery was a 38 foot, 20 ton, twin-mast small fly-boat (a Dutch designed light cargo vessel) used for trading goods between the ports of Britain and Europe. In 1606, alongside the Susan Constant and the Godspeed, she set out to colonise the New World. Captain Christopher Newport of the Discovery landed in Jamestown in 1607, and the new colony of Virginia was formed. When Captain Newport returned to London, he left the Discovery in the New World as her shallow draft made her perfect for explori...

Jamestown VA Susan Constant Go Pro Below Decks
The original Susan Constant, Godspeed and Discovery set sail from London on December 20, 1606, bound for Virginia. The ships carried 105 passengers and 39 crew members on the four-month transatlantic voyage. A 17th-century source noted that a total of 71 people were aboard the Susan Constant, 52 aboard the Godspeed and 21 aboard the Discovery. The expedition was sponsored by the Virginia Company of London, a business venture that had been organized to form a colony in Virginia. The fleet reached the Virginia coast in late April and, after two weeks of inland waterway exploration, arrived at the selected settlement site on May 13, 1607.

Jamestown
On May 14,1607, 104 men and boys, along with 39 sailors, selected Jamestown Island to be their starting point for settling in the New World. They departed their three ships -- The Godspeed, The Susan Constant and The Discovery -- and named their new colony, Jamestown. It is regarded as the first permanent English settlement in America.
The Jamestown settlers chose the site on the James River for a few reasons, but location was key. It was on the end of a peninsula, surrounding the colonists with water on three sides, making it easy to defend. Sometimes the peninsula would even flood, making it an actual island. Another reason? The location provided a port, which would be valuable and essential to the settlement's success.
Another important factor in deciding the location of the Jamesto...

The World's Most Dangerous Sea Route - Bypassing Cape Horn and Crossing the Drake Passage
An old sailing saying goes, “Below 40 degrees latitude, there is no law; below 50, there is no God.”
Cape Horn lies at fifty-six degrees South latitude. The Drake Passage is even lower. Their reputation is so bad that it's hard to imagine a worse one. Today you will discover the location of the most powerful ocean current, why sailors were honored to wear an earring in their left ear, and how a private company could oppose entire states?
Cape Horn, located on the like-named island, is the southernmost point of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago. There are more than 500 miles from it to Antarctica. Although it is often mistakenly referred to as the southernmost point of the continental landmass of America itself, but this is not exactly true.
Such a point is Cape Froward, while Cape Horn...

Often overlooked, a fourth vessel – a shallop – was also brought for service in Virginia as well, which was packed on one of the ships and assembled once the fleet had arrived in Virginia.

When Captain Newport returned to London, he left the Discovery in the New World as her shallow draft made her perfect for exploring bays and rivers.
Of course this is just a replica, built in Jamestown, USA. She was built to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Virginia's founding, and was shipped back to the UK as part of the celebrations. On the 19th December 2008 she was officially handed to Westenhanger Castle in Kent, 402 years to the day after she first left London bound for the New World. The link to Westenhanger Castle being that it once belonged to the owner of the East India Company.

The Susan Constant and Godspeed returned to England in June 1607, while the Discovery remained in Virginia and was used for Chesapeake Bay and coastal exploration.

Another important factor in deciding the location of the Jamestown settlement was the fact that there were no Indians living there. In fact, they were so relieved that there were no Indians living there that they overlooked the obvious question, why weren’t there any Indians living there? For starters, it was a swamp with brackish water, typhoid fever, and dysentery. It was also an Indian hunting ground.
Disease, famine, and continuing attacks from neighboring Algonquians took a tremendous toll on the Jamestown population, but there were times when the Powhatan Indians revived the colony with food in exchange for copper and iron implements. It also appears that the leadership of Captain John Smith kept the colony from dissolving.
The winter of 1609 was a starving time and only 60 of the original Jamestown settlers survived. That June, they decided to bury cannon and armor and abandon the town. However, the arrival of the new governor Baron De La Warr and his supply ships helped turn things around. The colony was reborn, but the suffering at Jamestown reoccurred for decades.

Such a point is Cape Froward, while Cape Horn is located on an island. The word "on the edge of the world" is just the right term for such points on the planet. Two oceans meet here: the Atlantic and the Pacific, which creates a unique, but very treacherous climate for the navigator.
The weather on the island tends to be windy and overcast, with almost no sun. There are more than 280 rainy days a year. Temperatures range from 28.4 to 57.2 degrees Fahrenheit. The average wind speed is 95 miles per hour. Just to be clear - even the average wind strength on the island is a category 1 hurricane according to the Saffir-Simpson scale, which is why many call the climate in the Cape Horn area the worst on earth.
So get comfy. We're gonna tell you all about it.
