Asteroid Mystery Solved; The Largest Recent Impact Crater was Found
Approximately 790,000 years ago a cataclysm occurred which scattered large quantities of black glass across 4 continents, totaling 15% of the Earth's surface. This occurred due to an impact event, the largest known to occur in the last 2.5 million years. Yet, despite a long search, the source impact crater which was expected to be wider than 10 miles or 16 kilometers across could not be found. However, this has all changed as a large impact crater was recently discovered underneath a now dormant volcanic field in Laos, with this crater being the source of the Australasian tektites.

Decoding the Surface Age of Mars
Crater counting is the traditional method of determining the surface ages of planets throughout the solar system.
Read the full case study here: https://pawsey.org.au/case_studies/crater-counting/
This method, up to now, has gathered data painstakingly counting each crater by hand. The current published database for Mars contains hundreds of thousands of craters for diameters larger than 1km.
If we can count craters smaller than this, we will be able to target new areas of interest on Mars or date previously analysed areas with much higher precision. Manual counting becomes intractable because the rate of impacts on planetary surfaces follows a power law such that the number of small (less than 1km) craters is exponentially higher than the number of large craters (i.e. number in the m...

How Planets Show Their Age: Impact Crater Analysis on Mars
Planet Mars... Terrestrial surfaces of planets and moons are under a state of flux from, among other factors, impactors of all sizes and shapes, and intervals of time. Analysis of the visual crater density created by these impactors provides one way to gauge the age of the surface. In this SMAP Live, our students learn a technique developed by planetary scientists in the 1970s to do just that. Our SMAP students will do their analysis, comparing images captured from the highlands and lowlands of the planet Mars.
Why are these two terrains on Mars so radically different in appearance? Could it be that the lowlands were once the site of a vast water ocean long since vanished which protected the surface? What does the distribution of crater sizes tell us? Join us for Impact Crater Analy...

Manual counting becomes intractable because the rate of impacts on planetary surfaces follows a power law such that the number of small (less than 1km) craters is exponentially higher than the number of large craters (i.e. number in the millions).
To count these requires an automated tool. Here we show that we have developed such a tool. We have validated the results against current manual databases.
Importantly, and for the first time, we demonstrate that an automated crater counting tool can deliver geologically meaningful ages.

Join us for Impact Crater Analysis on Mars and see what you can learn.
Saturday Morning Astrophysics at Purdue is one of the flagship programs from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Purdue. SMAP is open to students from around the world, in grades 8-12. Check it out for details and see what you think; https://bit.ly/SMAPPurdue.

In this short video Elon Musk the owner of SpaceX and Tesla companies talking on building a Civilization on Mars and to making humans lifes multiplanetary and what is the hampers we are encountering to achieve that. The video contains the full details.
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the second-smallest planet in the Solar System, larger only than Mercury. In the English language, Mars is named for the Roman god of war. Mars is a terrestrial planet with a thin atmosphere and has a crust primarily composed of elements similar to Earth's crust, as well as a core made of iron and nickel. Mars has surface features such as impact craters, valleys, dunes, and polar ice caps. Mars has two small, irregularly shaped moons, Phobos and Deimos. Some of the most notable surface features on Mars include Olympus Mons, the largest volcano and highest-known mountain in the Solar System, and Valles Marineris, one of the largest canyons in the Solar System. The Borealis basin in the Northern Hemisphere covers approximately 40% of the planet and may be a large impact feature. Days and seasons on Mars are comparable to those of Earth, as the planets have a similar rotation period and tilt of the rotational axis relative to the ecliptic plane. Liquid water on the surface of Mars cannot exist due to low atmospheric pressure, which is less than 1% of the atmospheric pressure on Earth. Both of Mars's polar ice caps appear to be made largely of water. In the distant past, Mars was likely wetter, and thus possibly more suited for life. It is not known whether life has ever existed on Mars ...Wikipedia
Elon Reeve Musk FRS (born June 28, 1971) is a business magnate and investor. He is the founder, CEO and chief engineer of SpaceX; angel investor, CEO and product architect of Tesla, Inc.; owner and CEO of Twitter, Inc.; founder of The Boring Company; co-founder of Neuralink and OpenAI; and president of the philanthropic Musk Foundation. With an estimated net worth of around $196 billion as of February 15, 2023, primarily from his ownership stakes in Tesla and SpaceX, Musk is the second-wealthiest person in the world, according to both the Bloomberg Billionaires Index and Forbes's real-time billionaires list. Musk was born in Pretoria, South Africa, and briefly attended at the University of Pretoria before moving to Canada at age 18, acquiring citizenship through his Canadian-born mother. Two years later, he matriculated at Queen's University and transferred to the University of Pennsylvania, where he received bachelor's degrees in economics and physics. He moved to California in 1995 to attend Stanford University. After two days, he dropped out and with his brother Kimbal, co-founded the online city guide software company Zip2. In 1999, Zip2 was acquired by Compaq for $307 million and Musk co-founded X.com, a direct bank. X.com merged with Confinity in 2000 to form PayPal, which eBay acquired for $1.5 billion in 2002 ...Wikipedia

Wine Review: Chateau Suduiraut Lions de Suduiraut Bordeaux Blanc Sec 2021
Today our Master of Wine David Allen is tasting a dry white wine from one of the Sauternes First Growths Chateau Suduiraut. the 2021 Lions de Suduiraut is a Bordeaux Blanc Sec.
Château Suduiraut lies in the in Sauternes region of Bordeaux, and is a highly renowned producer of sweet wines made predominantly from Sémillon. It was classified as a Premier Cru producer in the 1855 Classification of Sauternes and Barsac. Today, the vineyards are planted mostly with Sémillon, alongside small plots of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris.
The estate borders Château d'Yquem and has over 90 hectares (220 acres) under vine, on gravelly, sandy soils near the banks of the Gironde, whose humidity (and that of nearby streams) aids the development of the botrytis fungus late in the growing season.

Katrien Depuydt: DiaMaNT, a diachronic semantic lexicon of Dutch
The diachronic semantic lexicon DiaMaNT aims to enhance text accessibility and to foster research in the development of concepts, by interrelating attested word forms and semantic units (concepts), and tracing semantic developments through time. In the lexicon, the diachronic onomasiology, i.e. the change in naming of concepts and the diachronic semasiology, i.e. the change in meaning of words, will be recorded in a way suitable for use by humans and computers. The onomasiological part of the lexicon is meant to enhance recall in text retrieval by providing different verbal expressions of a concept or related concepts. The diachronic semasiological component (which charts semantic change), aims to enhance precision by enabling the user to take semantic change into account; the oldest meani...

In this video I discuss a rarely known yet extremely crucial time period when humans faced regional extinction. This is not a hypothesis as it was confirmed by several comprehensive DNA studies. This critical time period is between 20,000-15,000 years ago, when the entire human population experienced a severe reduction.
We’ve heard about the catastrophic Younger Dryas event that happened 12,000 years ago, when an asteroid probably hit Planet Earth. But surprisingly, the human population didn't de...

The French Revolution[a] was a period of political and societal change in France that began with the Estates General of 1789, and ended with the coup of 18 Brumaire in November 1799 and the formation of the French Consulate. Many of its ideas are considered fundamental principles of liberal democracy,[1] while its values and institutions remain central to modern French political discourse.[2]
French Revolution
Part of the Atlantic Revolutions
The Storming of the Bastille, 14 July 1789
Date
5 May 1789 – 9 November 1799
(10 years, 6 months, and 4 days)
Location
Kingdom of France
Outcome
Abolition of the Ancien régime and creation of constitutional monarchy
Proclamation of the French First Republic in September 1792
Reign of Terror and execution of Louis XVI
French Revolutionary Wars
Establishment of the French Consulate in November 1799
Its causes are generally agreed to be a combination of social, political, and economic factors, which the Ancien Régime proved unable to manage. A financial crisis and widespread social distress led in May 1789 to the convocation of the Estates General, which was converted into a National Assembly in June. The Storming of the Bastille on 14 July led to a series of radical measures by the Assembly, among them the abolition of feudalism, state control over the Catholic Church in France, and a declaration of rights.
The next three years were dominated by the struggle for political control, exacerbated by economic depression. Military defeats following the outbreak of the French Revolutionary Wars in April 1792 resulted in the insurrection of 10 August 1792. The monarchy was abolished and replaced by the French First Republic in September, while Louis XVI was executed in January 1793.
After another revolt in June 1793, the constitution was suspended and effective political power passed from the National Convention to the Committee of Public Safety. About 16,000 people were executed in a Reign of Terror, which ended in July 1794. Weakened by external threats and internal opposition, the Republic was replaced in 1795 by the Directory. Four years later in 1799, the Consulate seized power in a military coup led by Napoleon Bonaparte. This is generally seen as marking the end of the Revolutionary period.

The château takes its name from a former owner: 16th Century nobleman, Léonard de Suduiraut. The estate has had a checkered history, from being ransacked during the Fronde uprisings of the 17th Century to having its ornamental gardens designed by Le Nôtre (the famed landscape-gardener who designed the gardens of the Versailles palace, outside Paris).
It was acquired by investment firm AXA Millésimes in 1992. AXA holdings include Château Pichon Baron in the Médoc, Domaine de l’Arlot in Nuits Saint-Georges and Quinta do Noval in the Douro.
A second wine, Castelnau de Suduiraut, is made from grapes that are generally expressive earlier in the season, and the wine itself is approachable in its youth. Confusingly, since 2011, the Château has made a third wine, a Sauternes labelled as Lions de Suduiraut. - Take care if you are purchasing to buy the Bordeaux Blanc Sec if you want to purchase the same wine as David is tasting here.

The diachronic semasiological component (which charts semantic change), aims to enhance precision by enabling the user to take semantic change into account; the oldest meaning of appel is ‘a fruit’. Potential applications benefiting digital humanities include enhancing retrieval by using semantic relations in search, and word sense disambiguation in historical text.

This article is about the breed of cattle. For other uses, see Holstein (disambiguation).
Holstein Friesians (often shortened to Holsteins in North America, while the term Friesians is often used in the UK and Ireland) are a breed of dairy cattle that originated in the Dutch provinces of North Holland and Friesland, and Schleswig-Holstein in Northern Germany. They are known as the world's highest-producing dairy animals.
Holstein Friesian cattle
Holstein Friesian cows now dominate the global dairy industry. The Holstein-Friesian has the highest milk production of all breeds worldwide.

Cattle
Bos primigenius
Dutch and German breeders developed the breed with the goal of producing animals that could most efficiently use grass, the area's most abundant resource, as their food. Over the centuries, the result was a high-producing, black-and-white dairy cow.
The Holstein-Friesian is the most widespread cattle breed in the world; it is found in more than 150 countries.[1] With the growth of the New World, a demand for milk developed in North America and South America, and dairy breeders in those regions at first imported their livestock from the Netherlands. However, after about 8,800 Friesians (black pied German cows) had been imported, Europe stopped exporting dairy animals due to disease problems.[2]
Today, the breed is used for milk in the north of Europe, and for meat in the south of Europe. After 1945, European cattle breeding and dairy products became increasingly confined to certain regions due to the development of national infrastructure. This change led to the need to designate some animals for dairy production and others for beef production. (Previously, milk and beef had been produced from dual-purpose animals.) Today, more than 80% of dairy production takes place north of the line between Bordeaux and Venice, and more than 60% of the cattle in Europe are found there as well. Today’s European breeds, national derivatives of the Dutch Friesian, have become very different animals from those developed by breeders in the United States, who use Holsteins only for dairy production.
As a result, breeders have imported specialized dairy Holsteins from the United States to cross-breed them with European black-and-whites. Today, the term "Holstein" is used to describe North or South American stock and the use of that stock in Europe, particularly in Northern Europe. "Friesian" is used to describe animals of traditional European ancestry that are bred for both dairy and beef use. Crosses between the two are described as "Holstein-Friesian".

But surprisingly, the human population didn't decline much during that time. Younger Dryas is considered a global level cataclysm with worldwide cooling and massive biomass burning. If this disastrous event didn’t seriously dwindle the human population, then what kind of event could? What happened 20,000-15,000 years ago that caused this major population crisis?
I started researching the population bottleneck because I believe there had been at least one advanced civilization before ours. World-wide megalithic phenomenon could be proof of the existence of a previous highly-advanced civilization. For the entire existence of anatomically modern humans, there was only one world-wide population decrease significant enough to be considered the ending point of a previous advanced civilization. That was between 20-15,000 years ago. Could this period be the ending of a previous advanced civilization?
This is my YouTube Channel “Curious Being.” I have diverse and interesting topics to share, such as lost civilizations, prehistoric cultures, megalithic sites such as the Great Pyramids, Petra and lesser-known ones, NDE, DMT, aliens/UFO/UAP, and other related fascinating studies. History vs. Mystery revealed! Thank you for watching.
